Ok, I need to pick a trilogy for a challenge that I'm doing. It can't be a series, just a trilogy. I was thinking of The Orphan Trilogy because, at some point in time, I had heard that it was really good. I was wondering if any of you guys had any suggestions for other good trilogies. Maybe Matched?? I think that is going to be just a trilogy, but I'm not sure. Most of the books I think of have longer series. Any thoughts?

Kristie I haven't read either one of those trilogies. I've heard Matched is good and it's on my TBR list. I've also heard good things about the Legend trilogy, but the last book isn't coming out until November. You could also read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Those books are pretty intense though and I had to take long breaks between them. I'm such a wimp. ;)

Kristie, the Unearthly trilogy by Cynthia Hand is pretty good, and it's a quick read, perfect for a challenge :)
The Maze Runner trilogy is also a good option, and well, if you really feel like reading a lot, there's always The Lord of the Rings lol

I've only read the 1st books of Legend and Matched, if you were going for either of those choose Legend. It's a much better first book.

I assume you've read The Hunger Games? If not then that's the one you should read!

I can recommend The Midnighters Series: The Secret Hour Touching Darkness Blue Noon

That's off the top of my head .... I will think some more.

Isn't the Divergent series we are currently reading a trilogy too?

So far Divergent is a trilogy; the problem with books yet to be released is that what often is originally a trilogy turns into 5, 6 , 20 book series down the road. A trilogy is usually a trio of books, already published, with a clear ending (so that it's clear no new books will be added to the series.)

I think that Leviathan series is a trilogy, there are three books that I've recently read, these are quick reads about alternative history of the First World War with interesting mixture of inventions, people from that era and some teenage love story in the background. A gripping and full of twists and turns story with great illustrations.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I didn't realize that The Maze Runner was a trilogy. Somehow, I thought it was a longer series. I never even thought of Unearthly, Leviathon, or Legend, which I know a lot of people like. I didn't think of Lord of the Rings either. lol That might be a bit much for me right now, though it is on my TBR. And I never even heard of the Midnighters series! I'm so glad I asked! :)

Divergent is a trilogy (though Cathie makes a good point!), but I read the first book before the start date of my challenge, so I can't use it! Otherwise, that would have been perfect. And yes, I've read the Hunger Games too.

I tried reading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and had difficulty getting into it. I want to try it again, but I don't want to obligate myself to it for a challenge.

I'll look into all your suggestions a bit more before I make my decision. Thank you for all your help everyone!!

Oh, I think you may have read it but just in case ... the Delirium trilogy.

(I know Kristie has read this but for anyone who is going to take suggestions from these, the Graceling trilogy is excellent)

I loved the Maze Runner trilogy; at least the first 2 books (I still have to read the 3rd). It was the first trilogy outside of Lord of the Rings that I wanted to continue on reading. It's a quick, easy, action-packed read (as most YA books are).

I also read Uglies trilogy by Scott Westerfeld and I really liked it, it is a quick but gripping dystopia. I flew through it in July.

I just adored Delirium trilogy. I gave it five stars. Another amazing read, full of emotions and tension, especially the first book, but the other two are great as well.

I went and saw The Butler last night. Amazing movie; will probably be many Academy award nominations for this one. An amazing A list of stars in different roles; I hadn't realized it had that many before seeing it.

No, but I'm going to see Mud at the library tomorrow. They show new releases every so often for free. I haven't heard of The Butler. I'll have to look into it.

I went to see The Mortal Instruments today and wasn't expecting much .... I was pleasantly surprised! They've done a good job of adapting the book.

It's really good Kristie. Has Forest Whitaker, Terrance Williams, Vanessa Redgrave, Robin Williams, Oprah, Billy Dee Williams, John Cusak, Clarence Williams III (remember him from The Mod Squad anyone...gawd, I'm showing my age, lol) Mariah Carey and so many more I can't think of right now.

The acting was superb and the story line spans from the 1920s right up to present day. I always marvel when actors can play aged parts and get them so right (posture, eyes, movements, etc.).

We went to a Saturday evening early show and the place was filled, which surprised me. And people actually clapped at the end which I haven't seen in a long time.

What is Mud about? I haven't heard of that one.

Mud looks interesting. It's with Matthew McConaughey and he is a fugitive, named Mud, living in this little abandoned boat that is stuck in a tree on a tiny island in the middle of the Mississippi River in Arkansas. Two young boys find him and befriend him. The police are looking for Mud, but the boys don't tell them where he is. Instead they decide to help him. Reese Witherspoon plays his girlfriend or ex-girlfriend. I'm not really sure about the details, since I haven't seen it yet, but it's gotten good reviews. I'll let you know what I think after the show.

I've wanted to see The Mortal Instruments for some time, and Lynn, it is indeed a good news it is not disappointing :), especially that I wasn't under huge impression after reading City of Bones.

Cathie, I haven't heard about The Butler, but I will have my eyes open for this one as it seems to be a great movie.

Kristie, let me know what you think about Mud, I think I would like to see this one as well.

After a little search it appears that Mud was released in May, The Butler will be released in September and Mortal instruments mid-October (in France).

Here in Poland Mortal Instruments film was released last week. I don't know of the others, but I will be checking on them.

We saw Mud at the library. It is a new release on DVD here. It was a good movie, though a bit slow in parts. It was similar to Stand By Me in genre. Boys, coming of age, having an adventure.

I have watched 50% of Mud so far, as it was too slow. So watching it 20 minutes a day like it's a tv-show.
But watched a flick called "Clear History" recently, which was rather amusing. Seinfeld and Curb guy Larry David, John Hamm, Kate Hudson etc in it. Unnecessarily huge cast ...

Happy weekend everyone!!! It's Labour Day weekend here in Canada, which means that a)I get 5 days off and b)the kids go back to school on Tuesday!!! I'm not sure which I'm happier about!! My friends have taken it upon themselves to keep me busy while I'm off...lots of girly lunches, dinners, dancing and no boys...because they suck! Hopefully, I'll be able to squeeze some reading time in there too!

What does everyone have planned for the weekend? Anything fun?

I have a quiet, family weekend ahead, and on Monday my children come back to kindergarten after summer break, so we are going to have partly busy and partly relaxing time (busy for them, relaxing for parents LOL).
