anyone else really annoyed with the casting?

Saoirse Ronan is an amazing actress and I enjoyed her movies very much, but she don't really look like Mel. But at least she is an awesome actress.

And I'm reeeeeeally disapointed with Ian. Jake Abel is nothing like an gorgeous irish..

when they first announced the cast i was a bit skeptical but i'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt. Saorsie is AMAZING and i think that she's going to do a good job. in my mind i have a very different image of Melanie, but like the situation with Twilight - had i read the book first, i'm sure that i would have thought that Bella and Edward should have been different, but in seeing the movie, i can't picture it being anything different.

I latched onto the way that Ian was described in the book: tall, muscular, sapphire eyes and dark hair. Jake Abel just looks dusty (there is really no other way to put it). But after watching the trailer I was so excited I realized I honestly didn't care what any of the cast looked like. Max Irons is sort of how I pictured Jared, if not older. While Saoirse Ronan isn't exactly Mel, she was great in Hanna. Jeb and Maggie are perfect.

And where the hell are Kyle and Jamie in the trailers?(complete side-note)

Kyle is the one shooting and looking in the binoculars and Jamie is barely seen with Wanderer, when they're looking at water or something in the caves.

I disagree with the notion of casting and opinions on casting based on the actors' physical traits. I think Saoirse Ronan will do a great job as Melanie/Wanderer; she's certainly a capable actress. I'm still reserving judgment for when I actually see the movie, though.

I'm really looking forward to this movie so hope I'm not disappointed!
After reading all the Twilight books which I ended up really enjoying and preferring to the movies (although I started reading them after the first movie), I read The Host.
As much as I enjoyed the Twilight Saga, I LOVED this book so I've got my fingers crossed they don't change too much of it!
Also, huge fan of the TV show Supernatural so think Jake Abel is cool but yeah, he doesn't fit the description physically but maybe thats the point. Maybe they wanted him to appear a bit more differently to Jared's character or something. Who knows.
Really hope The Host isnt disappointing compared to the book. Fingers crossed :)

I feel Jared should have been older and a bit more 'man' if you understand what I mean? And I never ever pictured Saoirse Ronan as Melanie/Wanda...I actually think she would have been perfect with her blonde hair as Pet. I always thought Melanie would be hardier than what Saoirse portrays.

Ian is nothing like I pictured in my head. Same with Mel, especially Mel. But I'll be shocked if I don't love the movie. The previews look so good!

I am totally fine with the casting. I think Saorirse Ronan is a great actress and I don't know much about Max Irons or Jake Abel but they look fine in the previews. I think they did a much better job with this casting than Twilight's cast.

I have to admit I'm disappointed with the cast. I don't think the actors playing Mel, Jared and Ian are anything like the book characters. To me Saoirse Ronan looks more like Wanda at the end of the book than Melanie. the guys playing Ian and Jared, personally, I don't think they're handsome enough, that's my opinion on that. Especially Ian, I'm really disappointed with that one. They are all good actors and hopefully that'll make up for it. The Seekers, can anyone tell me why are they dress in white, because it I remember correctly they're suppose to be wearing black? That I'm upset about.

The white is suppose to represent the Purity of the Souls.

I was super excited when I heard they were going to make The Host into a movie, but slightly dissapointed when I saw the preview. The characters did not look like what I pictured in my mind when reading the book. I hope they can act and that the movie does the book justice.
