That's fine, I told you not to wait (it was not available for me at the beginning of the month). Hope that you liked it?

Megan L Harnett | 806 comments Hi Ruby,

I finished another one of my picks Hot Rocks. While I usually love Nora Roberts this wasn't one of my favorites. It was ok. I felt the story was too rushed and the characters fell in love to quickly. It wasn't really believable. Thanks for the pick!

message 657: by Kami (new)

Kami (aidansmama) | 988 comments I finished my third pick The Undesirable. I liked it but it wasn't as good as I wanted it to be. I like my dystopias to be darker and this one ended happily. I still gave it four stars because I did enjoy it.

Why, oh why can't The Perfect Play be as good as it's cover?!?! I mean, The Perfect Play (Play by Play, #1) by Jaci Burton ...that just sells the book right there, doesn't it?

Unfortunately, I found the story itself to be boring and predictable. I didn't particularly love Tara and Nathan either. Mick was ok, but could have been SO much better. For $12.99 I think I deserved a hell of a lot more. It's not even lendable! So, I will continue to look at and love this cover, but I will not spend another $12.99 on the next book. 2 stars. As always, though, thanks for giving me the push to satisfy my curiosity about this one. :)

I completely agree with you. That cover is so freaking lickable, it was seriously one of the best eye-candies for me of 2012.... and then you delve inside... le sigh.

message 663: by Katie (new)

Katie | 2083 comments I know, it's so sad. I was ready for it to blow me away and it was SO far from doing that. Ah well, still an amazing cover.

I haven't read Perfect Play yet - but I felt the same way about other Jaci Burton books I have read...she just doesn't do it for me

I've been eying that cover and book for two years but the price has always pulled me up short of buying it. Looks like I'll just leave it on my wishlist and perv on the eye-candy instead of actually reading it ;)

Katie | 2083 comments Yeah, apparently me either, Dee.

I think that's probably a good plan, Jane!

I'm sorry you didn't like it, Katie - I actually did, quite a bit. Guess that's why there are so many different books and authors out there, something for everyone! But whatever anyone thinks of the content, the cover is amazing, isn't it? :D

I would say the same--the premise is really odd--hard to believe that one would mascarade as a courtesan and be accepted at balls, etc. as one. Otherwise, I liked the characters and the romance.

message 676: by Carla (new)

Carla (carlacollette) | 347 comments I just finished my fourth PIFM book this month, When You Give a Duke a Diamond (Jewels of the Ton, #1) by Shana Galen , recommended by Karen.

It has an odd premise (women pretending to be courtesans), but otherwise I liked the story and really liked the hero and heroine. I've ordered the next in the series. Thanks for the recommendation, Karen!

~KarenH~ | 11338 comments I've finished 2 more picks in the last couple of days - Making Promises, which I'd been looking forward to and it didn't disappoint. I listened to the audiobook, and I have to say that the narration was almost painful at first, it was so slow and draggy, but once I turned it up to the faster speed on my mp3 player, it was actually fairly good! And, I finished Zero at the Bone yesterday, which I also liked a lot, although it was kind of like the Energizer Bunny of books - it just kept on going and going and going...I was beginning to wonder if it was ever going to end. Fortunately that's not a bad thing when you're enjoying the book! :)

Thanks for the great picks this month, Brandilyn - I might even fit in another one!

message 680: by Inge (new)

Inge Hi Bre,

I am so happy that you enjoyed most of the picks.
I know what you mean about The Sea of Tranquility, it is an awesome read. I haven't read Comming Home but will defenetely give it a shot.
I also agree with your comment on Never Too Far, I liked it but it wasn't as good as the first, I think the story moved too fast and lacked in the end.
I don't remember if I mentioned this when I picked Flat-Out-Love for you but I did not like it. Just like you, I figured out the "secret" from the beggining. But so much people love it that I thought you might like it.

I haven't read Painted Faces, but people have recommended it so much that I think it's going to be my next read.

Again, Im really glad you enjoyed your reads!

Best part of PIFM challenge is discovering new authors. When you decide to read the next one, PM me and I'd be happy to do a buddy read.

To everyone, sorry I haven't updated this challenge lately. Our Internet connection has been flaky for the last week or so and I fell like I am always behind with things. Hopefully it will be better next week when I get back to my computer.
