It is hard to follow sometimes on our devices! The picks are due by tomorrow morning at 10 - I hope you will be able to make them for Nadine!

message 453: by amelia (new)

amelia (getlostinanovel) Nadine, could you tell me some of the other genres you read? I've looked through your read collection and it's mostly erotica, and with me being fourteen and a paranormal/fantasy/romance kind of person it's difficult to reccommend books you will like.

Milly, if you would be more comfortable, I can have someone else make Nadine's picks.

message 455: by amelia (new)

amelia (getlostinanovel) Sorry in advance Nadine, these really aren't books that you would maybe pick up off the shelf, they are all YA and non-erotica, but it was really difficult to find books that you seemed to like that fitted the requirements of the challenge and that I'd read. So here goes, feel free to look and say no, not interested, it's okay ;)

Red: When You Were Mine-Rebecca Serle. I saw you read Shakespeare and this is like a modern day contempory twist?
The Boy Who Sneaks In My Bedroom Window- Kirsty Molesly. Not my favourite book personally but about as steamy as it gets ;)
The Perfect Game- JS Sterling

I couldn't find any orange, sorry!

Yellow: Stolen by Lucy Christopher and The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han, both nice summery books

Green: The Perks Of Being A Wallflower-Stephen Chobsky (can't spell his name). A cute book that deals with loads of different situations really well, I think the cover is a bit green? Holes-Louis Sachar. Has a great naturey backdrop

Blue: Torn/Undone by Cat Clarke. Both of these books are amazing and very very loosely related to water ;)

Indigo: Journey To The River Sea-Eva Ibbotson. A young but beautiful book about the Amazon. The hunger games by Suzanne Collins- pretty dark and suspenseful ;)

Violet: shiver by Maggie Stiefvater, very wintry :)

Sorry they aren't really to your tastes but it would be great if you had a go at one or two and tell me how you found them?

message 456: by amelia (new)

amelia (getlostinanovel) It's fine, I've done it now, someone else could maybe reccommend a few erotica on top of mine?

VIOLET - Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor

RAINBOW - The Weight of Silence - This is definitely not a romance but it is a book that will stick with you after you have read it.

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 4192 comments Valerie ~Varuca~

These are the books I have read so far:

Cut & Run (Cut & Run #1) by Abigail Roux -- I listened to this audio and STILL devoured it! It usually takes me a at least 3 days to get through audio but I listened to this all day. It was definitely different than the M/M I'm used to reading because the sex really was an afterthought but it was such an awesome story. I immediately got book 2 on audio and started listening to it. Thanks for recommending it. Now I know what everyone is talking about it. :)

I still have these left to read:
Gambling Men The Novel by Amy Lane , Laid Bare (Brown Siblings, #1) by Lauren Dane , and A Reason To Believe by Diana Copland

I'm not sure when I will get to these because I have a few review books to read this weekend, so it likely won't be until next week. Maybe we can do that buddy read then if you're able to?

MountainKat | 31598 comments Wow! I think this is a first - at least for me - 100% of the people made their picks! I still have a little bit of business though...

Penney volunteered to make picks for her kindred spirit Debra!
Christina volunteered to make new picks for Kami.
And I've asked Ty to spice things up a bit for Nadine.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered, it is always so nice to see all the generous spirit in this group! I will get the list updated to show the current status later, but right now I need to get ready for a birthday party! =)

message 476: by Ty (new)

Ty | 1943 comments Hey Nadine!
I tried to go one from your TBR and one off. Hope you like your picks!

RED
(spicy) - Club Shadowlands - so spicy you will need to drown in milk. okay, maybe that's not very appetizing...
(cover) - Seduction and Snacks - one of the funniest books I read last year. Instant pimping-out-to-friends.

ORANGE
(cover) - Cry No More - this title is a lie. You will CRY. SO. HARD.
(cover) - As You Desire - an all-time fave of mine. I love the alternate setting, I love the characters. and I love the eventual HEA. :)

YELLOW
(cover) - He Loves Lucy - Not sure if this was set in the summertime, but it's such a sweet story!
(summer) - Summer Loving - Number one on your TBR!

GREEN -
(cover/outdoor) - Lumberjack In Love - The cover is beyond cheesy but everyone has good things to say about this one. wouldn't mind doing a BR on this!
(author) - Beautiful Creatures - hey, there's a movie!

BLUE
(cover) - Release Me
(cover) - Seducing Cinderella - my current obsession is MMA stories. so hawwt.

INDIGO
(cover) - Secrets of a Summer Night - you have Mine Till Midnight on your TBR, but you really should start with the prequel series of the Wallflowers. This one was excellent!
(cover) - Mystery Man - I believe it is my job is convince more people to join the KA train. This is the book that did it for me!

VIOLET
(winter) - Gio - they're wearing wintry apparel on the cover, so maybe it's cold? haha
(cover) - The Secret - I really do love all things Garwood.

RAINBOW
(cover) - Wallbanger - I hereby propose that this book be REQUIRED reading for this group. Just saying. It is THAT good.
(lgbt) - Cut & Run - this one has been mentioned multiple times so far in this thread... :)

message 477: by Penney (new)

Penney (pschoener) | 3553 comments Ok Debra I'm finally ready. I had fun with these picks, one because I had the time to play and two, because there's just so much I wanted to pick for you. I had so much room to play that I decided to stick strictly with the color theme. I've included plenty from your TBR so it's within your comfort zone, but then I wanted to include some outside of that comfort zone. Although not too far out...

RED:
Beguiling the Beauty (Fitzhugh Trilogy, #1) by Sherry Thomas , I have one more to read in this series and I love it. Her heroines are not your typical historical heroines.
Cry No More by Linda Howard , Don't listen to the cover. You're going to cry and love every minute of it.

ORANGE:
Dragonfly in Amber (Outlander, #2) by Diana Gabaldon , my all time favorite series. Jaime should've been on MK's list because he's the dreamiest of all the heroes. Hands down!
The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley , a great mix of contemporary and historical.

YELLOW:
He Loves Lucy by Susan Donovan , very enjoyable contemporary romance. I think you'll like this one.
The Lost Recipe for Happiness by Barbara O'Neal , I was pleasantly surprised by this one. It wasn't what I was expected and I thoroughly enjoyed it :)

GREEN:
The Witness by Nora Roberts , I just read this recently and I liked it, among other things, because it wasn't Nora Roberts' typical fare. Very refreshing. (don't get me wrong, I like Nora)
The Frog Prince by Elle Lothlorien , another one of those surprise reads. First of all it was an Amazon freebie and those are always hit or miss, but this was a huge hit. Things you thought were going to happen didn't and I hate when I can see things coming a mile away.

BLUE:
To Taste Temptation (Legend of the Four Soldiers, #1) by Elizabeth Hoyt , LOVE this series!
The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie (Highland Pleasures, #1) by Jennifer Ashley , saw it on your TBR and it's just a must read. Enough said.

INDIGO:
Secrets of a Summer Night (Wallflowers, #1) by Lisa Kleypas , another of my fav series also on your TBR.
On Dublin Street (On Dublin Street, #1) by Samantha Young , I don't know why I was surprised to see this one on your TBR. A great read!

VIOLET:
The Wolf and the Dove by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss , Oldie but goodie :)
Warprize (Chronicles of the Warlands, #1) by Elizabeth Vaughan , this one may be a stretch for you but it was a great book. Actually it's the first of a true trilogy so if you decide to try it out and like it, be prepared to read the next two.

RAINBOW: Ok, let's introduce you to two more members of MK's Hero Hottie List...
Naked in Death (In Death, #1) by J.D. Robb , you absolutely MUST meet Roarke. This series is very heavy on the mystery, but the romance is to. die. for.
Cut & Run (Cut & Run #1) by Abigail Roux , A great m/m read that's not too focused on the sex, but instead focuses on the relationship between two of the hottest FBI agents ever...Ty & Zane (and some hot sex).

Ok, I hope you find something here that excites and delights you. I had fun coming up with all of these picks, but don't forget you only have to read one to complete the challenge.
HAPPY READING!!

I just finished (gulped it down more like) A Rogue by Any Other Name (The Rules of Scoundrels, #1) by Sarah MacLean and loved it! It's so hard to resist a bad boy in need of saving, and the reasons behind both characters' motivations were incredibly compelling to me. I just had to keep reading to see how it would all work out. I'll definitely be reading the next of the series soon. Thanks for the recommendation!

Christina (christinaovallsbooks) | 384 comments For Kami

Red: If I Were You by Lisa Rene Jones
Wicked Appetite by Janet Evanovich. I don't think that you have read her books before, but I like them. They are easy light reads that usually make me laugh.

Orange: Firelight by Kristen Callihan
Shadow's Claim by Kresley Cole. This was one of the bvest books I have read recently and the first in her new series. I had never read anyof her other books, but I understand that this is a spin-off of one of her other seires.

Yellow: The Undesirable by S. Celi
The Help by Kethryn Stockett. This is a book that was not on your TBR, but one that I loved even though this is not a romance novel.

Green: Phantom Evil by Heather Graham.

Blue: Storm Front by Jim Butcher. This is a series that is new to you. He is a sorcerer and I thought the first book was very good and verry funny at points.
A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
Frost Burned by Patricia Briggs. You seem to have loved the rest of the series and other people have said that they love this one.

Indigo: Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione. I loved this book and I noticed that you read the first book in the Lords of Deliverance series. This is the first book from the previous series.

Violet: The Girl in the Clockwork Collar by Kady Cross. You loved the previous book and this is the nest in the series.
Born of Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon. This is my favorite series by her. It is a little sci-fi, but the characters are amazing.

Rainbow: A Shimmer of Angels by Lisa M. Basso. I love the colrs in this book.

I hope that you like some of the picks. I kept most of them from your TBR and took a few from the books that I loved this year. Please let me know if you don't find something you like.

If I Were You (Inside Out Trilogy, #1) by Lisa Renee Jones Wicked Appetite (Lizzy & Diesel, #1) by Janet Evanovich Firelight (Darkest London, #1) by Kristen Callihan Shadow's Claim (The Dacians, #1) by Kresley Cole The Undesirable (Undesirable, #1) by S. Thank you so much for recommending Silent in the Grave. I loved it! It has been on my bedside TBR-ASAP stack for a while because a friend keeps pushing me to read it, and now I have to admit she was right. I love reading books set in the Victorian Age about women who are ahead of their time, and this was one of those. Plus the mystery was good, too, and although I had that figured out early in the story, there were some other surprises. I can't wait to read the next book in the series! Thanks for the recommendation.

I have started to read another of your recs, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, and so far, I am liking it, also.
