Rabelais takes a swing at his critics, then begins the story of Gargantua's gestation. After too much tripe, Gargantua exits his mother’s ear and calls for drink, drink, drink! His papa dresses him in the finest Aristotelian white and blue. Gargantua shows the guests his hobby horse stables. Grandgousier is impressed by his son’s wiping techniques. Gargantua reads the great books. Gargantua rings Parisian bells and the theologian makes an awful noise.
