Rod Horncastle I just noticed your Book review of this Lee. It sounds fascinating.

I don't have time to read this thing - I'm trying to finish reading some babble by Bart Ehrman and Sylvia Brown - but i'm very curious what this author is trying to say.

Do you think I would agree with this author Lee? Can you sum up his thoughts for us?

Lee Harmon (DubiousDisciple) | 2112 comments Yeah, you might, Rod. He argues strongly against Satan as a fallen angel, pointing the "fall" of Satan to New Testament times, but doesn't argue against the traditionally understood nature of Satan.

Sylvia Brown? Ok, that surprised me, Rod...

Rod Horncastle Isn't it weird Lee that a witch (fortune teller) and a liberal theologian both agree on something? Sure makes you think doesn't it?

That book sounds messed up Lee. If Satan isn't a fallen angel then what is he?

Kris (khart17) | 128 comments That sounds like Satan Trickery to me! Just from the outside... Psychics are deceived by spirits every single day. It's how they make their living... Why would you even consider trusting her on Biblical standpoints?? This really surprises me, Rod!

Lee Harmon (DubiousDisciple) | 2112 comments What do Sylvia Brown and I agree on? You got me curious.

Anyway, the "fallen angel" bit relies heavily on a misinterpretation of a couple passages, in Ezekiel and Isaiah. The name Lucifer occurs just once in scripture, and had nothing to do with Satan ... and in fact, wasn't the word Lucifer at all.

I ran a short series on the original of the name Lucifer on my blog last October:

Rod Horncastle Actually Lee i was referring to Sylvia and Bart Ehrman (but it may as well be you too!)

Don't worry Kris, I trust psychics as much as I trust liberal theologians. I read alot of books by the enemies of God - just to see if there's a chance they might be as smart as they CLAIM to be. But NO! Sylvia Brown and her spirit guide (DEMON) Francine are as credible as Dawkins, Ehrman, and the Jesus Seminar - and Lee for that matter.
Although it is fascinating when they all agree on certain issues.

And they all agree that the Bible has been tampered with and is not trustworthy. They also have a poor understanding of the heart of World religions. And they all trust science when it agrees with their worldviews.

LOL Good to know you're not looking for spiritual guidance from Satan's army. =D

I tend to agree with you... on Just about everything. (but Calvinism :)

I feel pretty comfortable in trusting the Bible. I'm sure that God is more than capable of protecting it's integrity and drawing attention to anyone who tries to change it. I believe it's been compiled the way it is on purpose. I know that if there's something that doesn't make sense, it's my own ignorance getting in the way. Not God's. Usually all it takes is some time in prayer and really seeking the truth in the Word to get it out. I certainly don't need mediums or liberal "Christians" to walk me through scriptures. Ha Ha!!

Rod Horncastle Kris quote:
" I'm sure that God is more than capable of protecting it's integrity and drawing attention to anyone who tries to change it..."

Well said, this has been my thoughts for the last few years. I'll start a thread about this - it seems to be the core of the problem.

Liberals seem to think:
"The Bible discusses HELL - but we can't trust the Bible."
"The Bible discusses Satan - but we can't trust the Bible."
"The Bible discusses Miracles - but we can't trust the Bible."

If we can't trust the Bible (God's Word) about these things then I need to find a better religion. Good thing WE CAN!
