Stephen (havan) | 32 comments I recently read Thirteen Reasons Why after hearing a lot about it and now wish that I'd waited to find an audio-book version.

The book integrates the listening of cassette tapes into the story line and has intertwined masculine and feminine POV's that advance the story.

Given that the story involves a few spoilers any subsequent readings/ listenings may not be as powerful as the first time around.

So while I'm still looking to check out the audio version, I wish that I'd waited to experience the story in that form first.

Has anyone else encountered this type of buyers remorse? If so, what titles?

I'd love to read that book and I understand what you mean especially with that particular book. Have you found an audiobook version yet?

I don't think I could read the Hunger Games series in any other format than print. It's the type f book which I don't think would SOUND good, as in an audiobook.

Peach (peachst) | 68 comments I've never really done audiobooks, but now that I am in Montana, and running outside is a no go for me, I spend a lot of time on the treadmill. I have music but after a while, you need some variety and thought of audiobooks. Any suggestions as to those that are particularly good?

Stephen (havan) | 32 comments For me the best treadmill choices were the Shakespeare plays and action books like Flight Of The Intruder. They helped me get my mind off the exercise but weren't SO complicated that they required my undivided attention.

I've found that what I like to listen to is very different from what I like to read for enjoyment. I just listened to Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln though I'd probably not choose that to read. It was great.

On a recent car trip I listened to The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy and Goth Girl and it was a good choice. The audio book format works especially well for that because it sort of feels like the inner monologue of an angsty teen boy.
