Here's an "ah-ha" moment I had recently:

If I study for something in the mornings I retain it really well. If I study it in the afternoon or eventing, its a slog.

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) | 88 comments My 4 year old keeps repeating everything we say- drives us nuts. So now we start saying things like "2 + 2 is 4", or "I before E except after C", or start speaking in French or Spanish (the little that I can remember.) Figured if he's going to do it anyway, might as well learn something.

That's brilliant!

When my kids repeat everything I say, I'll try to trick them into saying things like "I love avocados" (my daughter claims she hates those).

Dan (dan2345) | 3 comments I'm not sure how this thread works. Okay, I take martial arts, and when I've had to use it in a real life situation...which has only been once or twice....it just kicks in without me having to think about it.

Ed Wagemann (edwagemann) | 1013 comments Sounds like muscle memory. Reminds me of when former Bulls guard John Paxon was asked about making a clutch last minute shot to win the Bulls 1991 Championship. He simply explained that he had taken that shot so many times that it was nearly unconscious.

Anne Moss | 36 comments Makes me wonder if it is possible to change the "fight or flight' instinct in one's self. I usually have the fight instinct, even though I have no real physical skills to back it up. So usually that means I get into a verbal confrontation.
