Researching topics

I have read all of your books and have enjoyed each and every one of them. I want to thank you for delivering inspiration and insightfulness to so many poignant and impressionable topics. How do you go about your research? Do you have a team who directs you in the right direction or do you seek out on your own? Does the specific topic give way to inspiration of the story or is it the other way around?
Your books are worthwhile. The characters are rich with emotion and depth; the topics and storyline are pertinent and real. Thanks for providing such wonderful material.
