The first princess of Terrasen, she certainly knows how to speak beyond the grave! What are your thoughts on her, and do you think that she will feature as prominently in the next book? Why does she appear so often to Celaena?

Discuss below!

talltyrion | 188 comments She creeps me out. What she said at the end of Throne of Glass scares me. The fact that she's dead and makes more appearances than half of the living characters scares me. Her tomb scares me. She's a scary person.

*laughs* So true!!

I wonder if she has anything to do with the king hating magic.

Hmm...good thought!

Kita pairadee | 1 comments I don't think the king hates magic per say I think that he was jealous that he had no power so therefore he wanted to take it away from everyone else.

message 7: by Ana (new)

Ana Paula | 1 comments I think the king does have magic and doesn't hate it at all. I think he froze magic so that nobody would be able to stop him. I also think he represents the 1st dark king who tried to use the wyrdkeys and celaena represents Brannon (cause they have the same power) and in ToG there is something about all the players in the unfinished game (I don't have my book in hands so the quote isn't precise). Elena is one of those players. I guess I'll have to wait till book 4 to find out what's her role in the new game.

Evelin | 17 comments I don't know what to think of her in all honesty.I don't think Celaena likes her because she pushes her to do certaint things as if she had a destiny.I know she's trying to protect her but I'd be annoyed too if someone bossed me around like that.I hope they become closer throughout the series because this is when Celaena needs a mother figure the most. Not to boss her around, but to motivate her and cheer her on.It seems like sometimes the other characters forget that she's an 18 year old girl.

Chloe | 58 comments Dramatic moment in ToG!!!

' "You could be different," Elena said quietly. "You could be great. Greater than me- than any of us."[...]
Elena took a step towards her. "You could rattle the stars," she whispered. "You could do anything, if only you dared. And deep down, you know it, too. That's what scares you most." '

Grace Meredith (koreantrash) Ehh... Elena wasn't that great. She was too cryptic. Basically just boring.

message 11: by Solaris (new)

Solaris (solarisduvaniel) You're probably gonna have to find another author and series for that.

imashamedofmyoldreviews (pleasedontjudgeme_ichanged) As Dorian aptly said, There's an unnatural number of beautiful people on that ship.

Exactly

Yup

I forgave Elena on the spot for her mistake. Yes, it was stupid and now Aelin has to pay, but Elena was young and desperate. She wanted to save her people as soon as possible. Foolish? Yes. Understandable? Completely.

I agree with that too

message 17: by Diane (new)

Diane (mystifiedswift) I agree that Elena made a mistake. I don't think we should blame her too much even though she basically damned Aelin and the rest of Erilea and perhaps Wendlyn & the Southern Continent. People make mistakes and Elena regretted it because she didn't know.

imashamedofmyoldreviews (pleasedontjudgeme_ichanged) I would forgive her, but I don't know exactly what, but I feel she could do more to help. Like, for starters, NOT talk in cryptic riddles and keep concealing truths that could help Aelin a lot.

message 19: by Tristen (new)

Tristen (bo0kenthusiast) But just think, if Elena hadn't done what she did, then we wouldn't be reading the same story today . . .

imashamedofmyoldreviews (pleasedontjudgeme_ichanged) Of course. But that doesn't change the fact that she's very annoying. You're just saying, Let this character do this totally unnecessary thing when she could help more because I want my story. If anything would've been changed in any story we don't have the same one as before. But yet, you probably have a problem woth at leat one book out there, no?

SAME THO. And when Aelin calls her in EOS, she's just pissed off at her and barely cracks out an explanation. I mean, I'd like some ghosts who were just, like, "OK, so here's the deal: you've got to kill this guy, figure this out, and find this. Then put that thing with the other thing, and it'll someone someone to help you out. You got it? Elena out."

INSTEAD OF LIKE: "Follow your heart." BITCH WAHHHH.

imashamedofmyoldreviews (pleasedontjudgeme_ichanged) ^^ YES. And especially if the whole shenaningan was the ghost's fault.

Lol true

imashamedofmyoldreviews (pleasedontjudgeme_ichanged) But she could have totally made it easier for her. I'm not saying to tell her about the whole mishap, but she could have told Aelin/ Celaena the little steps instead of wasting so much time.
