I have a new found love for Asterin. I love how Sarah describes her - dark gold hair and black eyes with gold flecks. I love how wild she is and her attitude towards Manon is superb. As Manon's second (and cousin) she obviously is obliged to listen to her and not to challenge her, but I adore how Asterin isn't afraid to challenge orders. The scene in QoS where Asterin walks into the kitchen in Morath is fab. You can feel her dominance radiating out the book and when she starts washing up with Elide, it's fantastic. I know Ironteeth witches are meant to be born heartless, but I find Asterin a really likable and amusing character.
Okay so I'm curious about witches and how Elide is not a ''whole'' witch.So we don't get to know much about how witches work. Like every witch that is pregnant brings a female witch to the world, right? So I don't get ( help me here ) why Elide seems to have this "watered-down" witch blood. How does this work ? With whom do witches have to sleep to lessen the witch blood in the line further down ? And then of course the opposite: with whom do the witches have to sleep in order to conceive a witch like Manon or Asterin. And what about the witches that come directly from Valg-Fae mating together ? I'm just really curious and want to know more about witches in Empire of Storms. Please tell me what you think!
@Sara WhitethornI agree. I really hope they put something about that in EoS. There is many different ways that she could be half witch but I'm guessing either her dad or mom was a witch and the other parent wasn't just like if Asterin actually had her child it would probably be half witch.

I really miss Mort.. I like to think he was indestructible and has upgraded(?) due to magic being free
Heir of Fire and Queen of Shadows SpoilersElide's parents were Lady Marion, Aelin's nursemaid, and Lord Cal Lochan of Terrasen. It talks about this in Heir of Fire. From my understanding, witches are only female. A witch uses a human male to breed witchlings. I'm guessing that they can have boys more rarely, but they aren't witchlings. They are just boys with some witch blood. So maybe Lady Marion has a male witchling ancestor...
Spoilers for Queen of ShadowsMy understanding is that Mort was in the stone castle part of the Castle. The old part way down, so he would not have been destroyed when the glass castle shattered. As far as we know, he should be fine, right?

Yes Diane you're right I remember that! The Wyverns have been written in so well! And I'm sure he's largely responsible for how Manon started to care more.We need a ship name for the Wyverns then!
Uhh on this 'lesser character' topic can we talk about Sorscha. Because she deserved so much better and I absolutely loved her and I wish she and Dorian could just be together forever please I loved her so much she made Dorian so happy they could have both been happy forever which is something they both deserve

I’ve been waiting since the first book for Nox Owen to reappear, and I’m really hoping he does in KoA!!
