Dhfan4life | 10411 comments This thread is the long awaited characters that you don't like thread. I know some members have been waiting for this particular thread for a while. Only two rules here will be is to remain respectful of other fans thoughts, feelings, and opinions(we're adults here and no name calling should come out of disagreeing with any one) and also just because this is a thread to chat about characters you don't like. Please let us not get overzealous and beat a dead horse over and over again with most characters.

Ex:

Person A- I don't like Tori, because she is such a dweeb and is not worth Ash's time.

Person B- I agree. But you know who really burns my bacon? Amanda because she wants nothing to do with the world and yet has the most awesome powers ever. What's up with that?

Person A-Nope, Tori still sucks and I hate her cause she isn't really a Goddess or all that important to the series and I want her to die!

See^ It is stuff like that. I hope not to see in this thread. I get we can all feel pretty passionately about characters at times. But at the end of the day these aren't even real people. They are fiction. And somewhere either in this group or other wise someone feels the opposite of you and really likes the character you are talking about(at the very least I know the Author Goddess does or she wouldn't have created them right?). So again, be respectful, courteous and kind of each others' view points in here please. Any comments I see going against that general idea, I'm deleting.

Shari-amor | 5275 comments Hm while I'm a fan of the all dark-hunters, I just didnt connect with Ravyn . I wanted to love him because I loved that this was the first book I actually read by Kenyon (didnt know it was a series at the time). I loved the concept of her series. Beings that are betrayed and murdered but are given a second chance to exact revenge and become apart of an immortal army. Sounded amazing. But even after rereading his story because I thought maybe I'd feel different about him. Nope not the case. Realized immediately why I didnt care for him. He pales in comparison to everybody in his book. Ash, Nick, Savitar, even Stryker out shined him

I agree about Ravyn. I really wanted to like him to and I did it's just he seemed a bit cookie cutter to me.

Alexion was like that for me as well. It was hard for me to connect to him and his heroine. I just didn't care that much about them.

message 4: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Well said ladies. I wasn't feeling these two all that much either. Even though at first SK made them sound so interesting. And in a way they kind of were. Particularly for Ravyn in the end when he chose not to give up hi service to Artie. And Ias for being the first to betrayed. But beyond that they blended into the background.

Wren also in my opinion read too much as an ally character. So when he got a story he was still pretty ho-hum. And for all 3 of them, their love interests didn't rise to the occasion for me either.

message 5: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments Exactly. Their backstories are so interesting but I kinda felt they didnt really live up to their potential. I'd also like to say that after Stryker got his own story he kinda fell off for me. His character softened for me (which there is nothing wrong with...if he wasnt an important enemy) but I like my bad guys to be bad to the bone. Sadistic with no morals:-) and then it turned out big man just needed a hug which was disappointing

message 6: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Haha, big man needed a hug. I love that. Although I think he might be stronger than ever with Zephyra in a way. Pending how she works the angle of the Daimons being out in the sunlight since they drank from Kessar's demons. I would really love a return to that part of the story. Would be awesome to see what their new mission would be as they don't have to feed from the humans any more.

message 7: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments yeah thats definitely a cool angle. Daimons with demon blood and can walk in the sunlight. I loved how Zepyhra brought that to the storyline. It was definitely an OH SNAP moment. lol

message 8: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Totally was. I'm glad that she did too as Kessar was working my last nerve with how cocky he was being. Being all "I and my peeps can bite anybody we want and make zombified versions of us and are untouchable." But nobody ever truly is.

message 9: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments I love those types of bad guys because its a sweet moment when they're finally taken down. lol They get that "I cant believe you actually killed me" expression and then I scream out YES all manic like.

message 10: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments LOL, yes that is the best. I recall doing the same for Lash a bit with the BDB books. Although I still felt bad for how he eventually went away. Was all wicked witch like.

message 11: by Louise (last edited Feb 17, 2013 09:41PM) (new)

Louise Where is Stryker and his Daimons anyway, I think they've been sunbathing in the sun, I haven't seen them lately in the new books, *sigh* its all Noir and Azura:)
yeah what's with Ravyn? I really enjoyed his book, the cat allergy was funny, but I was angry on the thought that he didn't give up his service, like Dhfan4life said...and I don't remember if he completed the mating ritual with Susan, did they? I was so disappointed:(

I really don't like Angelia(Fury's mate) and I love love love Fury when I read Night Play since it was my first book, then when I read Fury's short story, I was angry at his mate cos she won't even say "sorry" to what he'd done to Fury when they were young, she betrayed him!!!ugh and this mating mark just came after they bedded* still disappointed* hahaha:D

and No Mercy must be my least favorite DH book to date...I can't connect with Samia and Dev..their one night stand turned I love yous just didn't work for me hehehe cos Ethon's unrequited love broke my heart so I'm team Ethon:)

message 12: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Well in a way I'm glad Ravyn didn't give up his service to Artie just like that. In particular cause out of ALL the DH's we've seen so far. He truly did have a conflict of interest going for him. Either stay in Artie's service and have a network of peeps, that are willing to look out for Susan while he hunts the Daimons (even though they sooo seemed not able to trust her at all at first. Save for the one blood rites squire that was sort of her boss at that newspaper she was with). Or go back to his old were-hunter days and have the crazed slayers gunning for her. And in essence not be completely sure his fam would watch over her. As I think his book ended with them still not letting him back into the family circle given his history of killing the distant daimon cousins and all that. So sort of made sense to me.

Yes, the daimons are probably somewhere in Hawaii or Key West. Making up for lost time in the sun. Or maybe Apollo is plotting new ways to curse them or something.

Oh yea, Lia was definitely TOO human for me. I mean she out did the humans. Acting like she had never walked in poop or anything before. So annoying.

I hear ya about Ethon. That whole past thing was far richer than Dev and Sam's relationship. I still feel like there was a weird moment too when Sam got that flash of knowing about Ash's past for a minute there. I think it was and it sort of went unexplored.

message 14: by Louise (new)

Louise she has cool powers but...And Nick being naked in Artie's temple that's weird too but I think his past is changing on that moment *sorry for spoiler*:)

message 15: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Oh that's fine Louise. Maybe I should put a note in the original post about spoilers. I didn't even think about it given how far into the books we are.

Yea, very interesting powers. Oh well the Nick and Artie thing was so going to happen I felt as soon as they were watching Ash's wedding. No two ways about that one. Soon as she said "I'll be your friend..." I so was thinking oh no, come into my parlor said the black widow to her latest fly.

message 16: by Sarah ♥ dog crazy ♥ (last edited Feb 18, 2013 01:02AM) (new)

Sarah ♥ dog crazy ♥ (mylheage) | 359 comments I totally agree about Lia. I can't stand her. The way she treated Fury and he's just forgiving her like that?!?! He deserved so much better.

There are several female characters I don't like. Like Bride, Tory and Abigail. She killed DHs and everyone is forgiving her. I think Talon made a comment and then he's all "Sorry, I didn't mean it." Normally she should have gotten killed.

I'm totally team Ethon! Love him!

message 17: by Louise (last edited Feb 18, 2013 01:38AM) (new)

Louise oh *pouts* I haven't read Retribution yet:( so I have no comment for Abigail:) I love Bride;) and what's up with Tory? she is a little bit different though compared to the other heroines but well she is the exact opposite of Artemies:) so I still like her though.. I Think no one will top Tabitha, she's the best heroine for me:)

message 18: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments AGREE AGREE AGREE about Abigail. lol sorry when me and my momma both read Retribution, she said she loved Abigail. I know thats my momma but I almost drop kicked her. >.< haha
Yeah I could never really look past what she did to them. (view spoiler) Idk I cant forgive her though. She hurt my precious Dhs... hehe my precious *in my Smiggle voice*

message 19: by Deanne (new)

Deanne (deniseanne) | 55 comments The characters in the DH novels that did not click with me are the ff:

Ravyn - from dark side of the moon, sure I found it hilarious that Susan is allergic to him , never heard of a heroine allergic to her man , but other than that the back story was too weak and the book was dragging .

Alexion - I sure loved Danger but Alexion's back story is to weak it never clarified in the book and the series how he became the "cleaner" for Ash for his strayed Dark Hunters.

Kessar- he simply was getting to my nerves.

Lia- I too cannot stand her , sure her and Fury go way back but I cannot believe how easily Fury forgave her and erased a huge chunk of his past due to her betrayal .

Abigail - Her character alone is just too weak that she can barely defend her self and to paired with Sundown you need a little spunk .

Tory- for me tolerable she has this wacky sense of humor that pops out once in awhile which is healthy for Ash , it helps him relax plus she ain't no Artie, so that's why I like her .

**** I still cannot get my mind wrapped around in the Nick and Artie thing , I can just see her luring Nick to her web of lies and she will betray him like she did Ash all over again .

I have nothing against gays but I am still try ing get my mind around on how Davyn turned gay .

message 20: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Haha, I have to laugh about the Davyn turning gay comment Poetic. Simply because as far back as any stories go with ancient Greece being involved the guys were very fluid in their sexuality. So woman today, a man tomorrow kind of thing for most if I remember my history channel correctly.

Although I kind of think Kenyon sprinkled in a few homosexual characters here and there to add to the diversity soup she has going on. I mean Zoe is a lesbian DH (which I'd still be interested in seeing how she handles that one. Although I have a feeling a novella would be in the works).

message 21: by Louise (last edited Feb 18, 2013 06:12PM) (new)

Louise Who's Davyn? OMG I like mm romance hehehe.. so I don't mind gays as long as they're hot men;)

message 22: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Davyn is Stryker's second in command and friend to Stryker's daughter.

message 23: by Louise (new)

Louise wow! the one trusted by Urian? what! he's gay? what book did he confessed it, no mercy? btw thanks;)

message 24: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments It was in Stryker's book

message 25: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments oh in One Silent Night. Zephyra was concerned about medea being alone with him until Stryker said he'd be concerned if he wad alone with his son

message 26: by Louise (new)

Louise Shari-amor wrote: "oh in One Silent Night. Zephyra was concerned about medea being alone with him until Stryker said he'd be concerned if he wad alone with his son"

Thanks Shari, I did not notice that important detail then, oh no, what if Urian is gay too...no no no, he's heart belongs to Phoebe;)

message 27: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Haha, yea me thinks Urian is strictly a lova of the puddy-tat. ;)

message 28: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments I concur Dhfan lol

message 29: by Louise (new)

Louise We puddytats are meowing for him. Urian is yummy lol:D

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

I hope soon Sherrylin will pair Urian up with a human girl, preferably one like Bride

;)

message 31: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments That would be awesome Lily if she did that. Although a wee bit of a conflict of interest with the whole dad being former over lord of peeps that was doing soul sucking on humans. And then him sorta killing Urian's late wife and even Urian for betrayal. To say the least those would be some crazy getting to know you conversations, lol.

message 32: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments Eh there have been crazier couplings. Ash and Tory. Apollyami did wipe out the earth and her own pantheon. What do you say to guy after he tells you that? lol

message 33: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Your buying dinner too, biatch. :P Lol, about the only thing you can say I guess.

message 34: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments hahaha then exit slowly from the table

message 35: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Exactly. :) May not really ensure many more dates with that person, but hey great way to mix it up.

message 36: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments lol. Oh yeah Satara, Strykers sister didnt cut it for me at first. She was just so.....evil and treacherous but then she died and now I miss her. Realize now her kind of evil is perfect for this series. Imagining her with Kessar and the havoc they would have created

message 37: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments I'll agree she was a good evil bad chick. I so thought she would have been a interesting match for Savitar. But then she played the rape card with Tori and she became tasteless to me.

message 38: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments oooo yes I never even considered her with Sav after he dismissed her in Ravyns book but that would be fun reading about them.

message 39: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Well I thought a sound spanking was in order after they first met. So I was holding out hope he was the dude to give it to her. In more ways than one. ;)

message 40: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments oooh snap. lol Sav dishing out spankings? I would KILL to have that happen.

message 41: by Deanne (new)

Deanne (deniseanne) | 55 comments Dhfan4life wrote: "Davyn is Stryker's second in command and friend to Stryker's daughter."

Davyn used to be Stryker's second hand command till Medea replaced him

message 42: by Deanne (new)

Deanne (deniseanne) | 55 comments Ephani is another Amazon who just poofed out the entire series

message 43: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Oh? Was that in time untime that Davyn was replaced or another book? I so don't recall him being on the chopping block. Hmm.

message 44: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments no I think that happened in OSN.... I think....oh snap I don't I remember which book but I remember him being relieved he wasnt in command anymore because he felt it conflicted with his loyalty to Uri and I wanna say it was strwssing him out

message 45: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments or rather he was always on edge especially after you know daddy dearest cutting his own son's throat

message 46: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Who wouldn't be after that?

message 47: by Louise (last edited Feb 20, 2013 06:04PM) (new)

Louise any opinion for Artie?? hmmm sometimes I like her sometimes its aggravating on what she did on Ash on the past. but THAT was the past since Ash is with Tory now..but I missed her on the new books:/ really missed her twist on sayings lol:D

message 48: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments I think I feel the same as Simi. She summed it up best for me about Artemis being the old aunt everyone was wary of at family gatherings. I cant remember exactly what was said because I cant think which book she said it in...... stupid memory >.<

message 49: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Oh crap. I know what you are talking about as well Shari. But my memory is kaput these days as well on most things. Totally need some Sudoku or a squire to massage my temples and get my brain back.

As for Artie, I've personally NEVER been a fan of hers at all. I get on certain levels she had her own version of abuse from Apollo and in theory it would be great if she could change. But I don't see it happening. And if it did I wouldn't trust it. I mean given the history she has had with getting away with what she did to Ash for so long. Why settle for less than getting away with that again and doing even more? After all the Gods and Goddesses have always been pretty petty through out time and legend, so what is to really make her reign it all in to be a character we can care about?

message 50: by Shari-amor, Doll Cake (new)

Shari-amor | 5275 comments You know who really grinds my gears... Velkan. The DH that hooks up with Dracula's daughter (hehe been watching family guy again). But yeah his story was in one of those anthologies that I cant remember the title of
