Katy Lafayette Although this is the only essay book I've ever read, it's the best one! Biss knows how to play with your emotions and pull on your heart strings all while giving you cold, hard facts about history and different experiences she's had. When you think of a book of essays, you assume it's going to be a compilation of multiple essays with multiple characters and topics. This book had multiple essays with multiple characters that Biss had encountered, however it all was in a common theme: race and racism. I'm not a big reader, but I thoroughly enjoyed Notes from No Man's Land and would definitely recommend it for anybody who's sick of traditional novels!
