Lissa Bryan (lissabryan) | 4 comments Hello,

I've tried to add an Amazon purchase link to my book, but I cannot get it to work. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but I can't figure it out.

Here is the book's page:
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/16...

And here is the link to Amazon I want to add: http://www.amazon.com/End-All-Things-...

Can someone help me with this, please? I was able to get iTunes and Shelfari to work just fine, per the instructions, but not Amazon.

Barnes and Noble link shows up first, though I've removed it from the links that should show up, because the book is not offered on the site, as of yet. Can that link be removed?

A side question, if I may... Is it possible to change the "Author Of..." designation?

Renske | 12231 comments The ASIN of your kindle edition isn't added, therefore the link doesn't work. But as we can not use data from Amazon, I can't add it. You can add it yourself or provide it in this thread.

The links you see at 'get a copy' are not set for the book, but are each users own settings.

As far as I know, the 'author of ...' is based on the most popular work of the author.

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Technically speaking, by providing the link you've provided the ASIN, actually:

www.amazon.com/End-All-Things-ebook/dp/B00B4ZK9QA/ -> B00B4ZK9QA

I've added this to the Kindle edition.

However, the links below the book are customized by each reader for themselves; authors can't change what other people see for their books.

"A side question, if I may... Is it possible to change the "Author Of..." designation?"

No, that will always show your most popular book.

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 6325 comments Getting purchase links to work = getting correct isbn or asin numbers.

The green buttons at bottom where you may see "Barnes and Noble" showing first/leftmost button - that's actually just a paid for sponsored ad space (will vary by member location). Can and will change. On my links sometimes that's Google Play, Kobo and others.

Nothing you can control on first button. You and the rest of goodreads can control the other two get-a-copy buttons. The middle button shows your retail sites, the rightmost noncommercial sites like libraries and cataloguing sites. Until you customize, goodreads does put some defaults based on country location (as an author, no, no way of knowing how readers have set their buttons or if they even see the retail sites selling your book; if same country as you likely will have started out with same defaults you have/had).

[I can say all that now calmly and intelligently; but, at one time I made an ass of myself on another bug thread when my Barnes and Noble link was "stolen" and support kept muttering location and currently experimenting comments at me before I actually got an explanation.]
