I found it boring too. I would have been interested in what you thought of it if you had read it, as I found the 'italics' sections offputting. Although others had no problem with them.

They don't usually put me off. I often read 2 or 3 books at the same time anyway (as in switching books every chapter) so I like having double stories in a book. Though with the whole abridged thing, I think I missed a whole lot of the second tale.
I finished this book and thought "You're killin' me Smalls". This is the second missed group read I've finished and I find myself rather unimpressed. This wasn't a terrible book but it wasn't a great book. Oh well. Keep moving forward, right?
I gave it 3 stars, Gretchen, so we are on the same page with this book. I couldn't get into it at all. I liked enough elements not to give it 2 stars, but only just.
