Michael Reilly (buttonman88) | 2 comments Hello Librarians

I cannot find an obvious asking for this question already so here goes...

How do I manage and amend my book's links to e-store entries where it can be bought? The standard links seem to be fixed and unalterable and when I try and add new links to replace them, I cannot do what seems like the common sense simple thing of just recording the URL of my book in a givn store. Is it really so complex and intractable or am I missing something obvious? Is URL substitution not available or am I doing it wrong to implement this approach. HELP!

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments All of the online store links below the book are set by individual users. You can change the ones which show for you (go to edit profile), but not which ones your readers use.

In the case of the book to which you've linked this thread, that's a Kindle edition. By its nature it'll only be available from Amazon stores, so only users who have their accounts set up to buy from one or more Amazon stores will be able to purchase it directly.

Paula (paulaan) | 7014 comments The Buy Link buttons underneath the book description are user configurable NOT author or book configurable.

The list of stores you see and the list of stores I see are different because I have changed them to suit the stores I shop at.

That said, if a user has a link to Amazon, they need to select the kindle edition of the book for the link to work. If they have a BN button, they need to select the BN 249 edition to work.

So an edition is added for each book with a different ISBN / ASIN / BNID (Barnes and Nobel ID)

Edit: The buy link works fine for the Kindle Edition you have listed - it takes the user to the book page on Amazon.
