message 804: by [deleted user] (new)

She shrugged. "Ares says fight, I fight. Someone attacks, I fight. I don't run around starting fights."

message 805: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) ((We should get them to rp sometime.))

"Good point." He nodded in acknowledgement.

message 806: by [deleted user] (new)

She shrugged.

message 807: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) "So....what's your favorite game here?"

message 808: by [deleted user] (new)

"Never been here before now," she laughed.

message 809: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) "Really? I used to always come here before the end. I was always begging my mom to let me come."

message 810: by [deleted user] (new)

Cambria laughed. "That was my brother. I was never into video games."

message 811: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) "Who's your brother?"

message 812: by [deleted user] (new)

"Ryan Turner?"

message 813: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) "Name sounds familiar. I've probably met him a few times."

message 814: by [deleted user] (new)

She shrugged. "Probably. Or you met another one of the thousand Ryans."

message 815: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) "Maybe." He said, smirking slightly.

message 816: by [deleted user] (new)

She smiled slightly.

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) "Any other family besides Ryan?"

message 818: by [deleted user] (new)

"No, just us."

message 819: by Justin (new)

Justin (justinthom03) Tristan landed outside, letting down Isaac safely.

Tristan landed on the ground. "So....how was it?"

message 821: by Justin (new)

Justin (justinthom03) "You were scared."

message 822: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) "Big family for me."

Justin (justinthom03) "Wanna test that theory?" Tristan said walking towards the entrance.

message 832: by Justin (new)

Justin (justinthom03) Tristan opened the door, not seeing that theres others here. He sniffed the air. "Mmm, you smell that?"

message 833: by Justin (new)

Justin (justinthom03) "Smells like defeat."

message 836: by Justin (new)

Justin (justinthom03) "Fine." Tristan got in position to play. "Pac-man? No biggie." Tristan started the game, but something went wrong. His mad arcading skillz disappeared. Then all his Pac man lives when down until he lost. "What? What just happened?"

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten | 289 comments The darkness seemed to press around her. It was so heavy, so absolute, it took her breath away. Alejandra let out a shaky breath and reached over to pat Jax's head, the soft fur shifting through her fingers gently and reassuringly.
"Well, Jax. Seems I picked a bad place to wait out the storm. And here I though the arcade games would make the time fly by..." She shifted to feel around in her purse until she felt the familiar rubber case of her phone. It was strange how foreign such a familiar item as her purse felt in absolute darkness. It was way messier than she remembered, too. And the pockets seemed gigantic when she couldn't just peek inside and grab what she needed.
'I'll have to be careful not too use the battery too much if the power stays out awhile...' She reminded herself, though she wasn't too worried. She kept multiple recharging battery sticks in her purse. Never knew when you'd need them when you were out on the road.
Ailee's lips twitched up in mild amusement. That was like her go to phrase. 'Never know when you'll need it.' Though she was mildly embarrassed to admit it, she carried around a lot more than was probably necessary for if she would need it.
Ah! Speaking of which.... Ailee fumbled around for her keyring. "Damn, when did my purse get so messy..." She grumbled as she dug around in a couple pockets before letting out a soft, embarrassed laugh and turning on her phone screen so she had a little light. Even the soft, familiar light of her phone momentarily blinded her. She turned her face away from the light and blinked away a few spots. This was somehow almost worse. She could see now, but everything further away seemed even darker and more scary. This place looked like where games went to die.
Ailee reached over and turned her phone away from her, letting it rest against her leg to point towards her purse. Now, this was much better. She could see her keys already. Pulling them out from the tangled mess of cords and items, she let out a sigh of relief. Yes, she still had that tiny flashlight hooked here. Its sides were worn and the groves on the top nearly worn flat. She'd used this light so much, but not recently. No, it had been sunny enough usually. Or she had a fire. Or there was lights.
How infuriating this storm was.
Ailee zipped her purse back up and slung it over her shoulder. She hadn't really explored the place too much, but now seemed as good a time as any. Maybe she could find something that would help her see better. Maybe they had a backup generator she could get going. Or even more hopeful, maybe they had a kitchen or a place to make a fire and heat. Who knew how long this place would stay warm with the power out.
"Alright, come on Jax. Let's go see what we can find." She carefully got to her feet and turned on the tiny light, letting it bounce from system to system as she started to walk, relieved she had her faithful dog at her heels.

Cold creeped atop Alexander’s shoulder, and he swiped up at it, his velvet-gloved hand with its long fingers held tightly together. Similarly, his hard drilled posture had been crumpled as if paper in the hand of a giant, his head and shoulders hunched low in a desperate bid to conserve body heat. He was muttering lowly, thus: “Bloody cold. Hell frozen over, I reckon. The things that should happen now… My inheritance for once. I’d have words with father, if any of it mattered any more…”

His greatcoat hung loosely around him, defying his arms which tried as far as they cold to hug the material close. He looked around, barely seeing further than a hand in front of him. “Why, this is wonderful. Good Lucifer brings no light now,” he mused, smiling to himself. He reached for his pocket, and the watch therein. He pulled it up to his face, and as it turned in his hand slipped through the icy fingers, aided no doubt by the frost.

“Damn this forsaken cold!”

He stood suddenly silent for a moment then, scanning around for any sign that he’d been heard. Too loud, he chastised himself, who knows what other persons have taken shelter here?

Lynx ~ 10/1 Never Forgotten | 289 comments Alejandra kept her free hand entwined in the dark fur of Jax. It wasn't a matter of it being an effective way to keep her hand warm, but more a way for her to feel safety and security from the loyal dog padding softly along with her.
As she walked past machine after machine she realized she was holding her breath. Ailee wasn't entirely sure why, but the sheer oppressiveness of the dark and the foreign area around her led her to feel it was appropriate. Every little noise in the place seemed amplified, echoing softly among the machinery. She felt like she was straight out of some horror film. After all, wasn't it always in the dark when the terror crept in? When something appeared to scare the shit out of you?

Ailee unconsciously shuffled a little closer to Jax, her light lingering on a shooter game for a moment before shifting to light the way ahead of them. She just couldn't help it. All the machines, the bright colors, the dark screens.... It seemed wrong. The bright colors were supposed to be illuminated, the screens casting a soft glow..... They shouldn't be dark. It was eerie. It was disturbing. She hadn't noticed how many dark pockets of shadow could lie in a simple arcade machine, or how much dust spun soft pirouettes in the air.

Finally a heavy metal door came into view, the light shining dully off the grey surface. She didn't know what was on the other side but there didn't appear to be any exit signs. Well that was good, at least it was an interior door. Maybe there was a kitchen on the other side or an office with books she could burn somewhere.
With a soft huff she untangled her hand from the comforting fur of Jax, her fingers wrapping around the icy cold of the doorknob.
Just as she was about to push the door open, she heard from the other side, "Damn this forsaken cold!"

Jax's ears shifted toward the door as his posture instantly corrected itself, tail falling still as he stared down the door.
Ailee's reaction wasn't quite so elegant. With a light, startled jump she hastily opened both her hands, the keychain falling with a thud to the ground as the light spun around wildly. She could feel her heartbeat thudding quickly in her chest, all her senses alert. Hastily she scrambled back, bumping with a soft crash into the machine behind her, rocking it unsteadily for a moment before it settled back to standing.
"Shit, shit, shit, shit..." Ailee lunged forward to grab her light, her fingers scrambling at the course carpet until they latched onto the keyring. She used the light long enough to yank a fake gun off an arcade system and duck behind the system. Quickly she spun the tip of the light to power it off, her fingers clumsy as they slid on the slick surface of the metal. The instant dark it plunged her into seemed all the more scary in comparison to the meager light she had had before. She knew she was probably overreacting to this whole encounter, but who knows what other people could have taken shelter here?

He stayed still longer, and the hope that he may have gone unnoticed began to creep up his spinal cord and into the back of his mind. He let out the breath he’d held, seeing it immediately turn to mist before disappearing into the all-consuming blackness. And then, suddenly, his sense of security was dispelled. A sound as if a door moving slowly, its dull metal weight scraping on its hinges. Behind him, and to his left...

He stood entirely still, staring dead ahead, not allowing so much as his pupils to change to the lighting. At last, distant, a soft thud as something struck the ground, perhaps weighing as much as a light coin-purse. Crucially, it came from the same direction. He moved towards the sound, others greeting him with reassurance as he heard their echoes come towards him. Light footsteps of a small animal, the heavier feet of whosoever it accompanied. Dust and snow swirled at his own shoes, rising up from the ground and falling from his apparel respectively.

The door met him like a bastion rising out of the darkness, and he skidded to a halt just in front of it, before pulling it open. Anyone, or no-one, could have been on the other side. He called out to them nonetheless. “Hello? Anyone there?”
