"What are you family like? I mean like how many siblings do you have?" Adrianna asked him curiously, shifting into a more comfortable position on the chair.

"I don't know how to describe them... But they are a force to be reckoned with." He answered," Im the youngest of five."
"Well that doesn't sound scary and intimidating at all," Adrianna said sarcastically with a laugh. "So five. How many brothers and sisters? And what's it like having them? I have to ask to compare it to being an only child. I ask everyone," Adrianna asked him.
He laughed," They are just fun and a little wild." He replied. "I have three older brothers and two older sisters. " Galen answered," the sister and brother closest to me would like you a lot and so would their mates I think." He said
Adrianna furrowed her eyebrows a little, unsure of why his brother and sister would like her. She didn't think that she was unlikable but she didn't see how she was that likable either. "Well that's good I guess," she replied, not sure how to.
Galen smiled," They are the most like me and more fun I guess.." He answered looking at her with a frinn
"You are fun," Adrianna replied immediately, tilting her head to the side just a bit. "You say that like your not. You're just a bit out of pop culture but that's it."
"Okay well run they are more fun and know more about being on land than I do." He answered laughing a little bit
"You just need someone to teach you. That's where I come in. You can teach me how to be a mermaid, I'll show you how to survive on land without acting like you've been living underwater your whole life," Adrianna joked with a grin.
Galen laughed loudly at that one," you are so funny." He replied
"I wasn't joking," Adrianna corrected him, her face and tone dead serious. She was only kidding with him though.
Galen grinned at her," You know I have lived under water my whole life so really you have to teach me a lot of stuff." He told her
"Yeah, a lot. You're completely out of it," Adrianna replied, nodding in agreement. "It's kind of extremely sad. I mean, you knew there was a world up here. I didn't know there was one down there that I could go to."
Galen nodded a little bit," I guess but it's a bit dangerous for a ten year old boy to be running around with no parents." He replied
Adrianna nodded in agreement with a shrug of her shoulders. "But, I mean, could one of your brothers or sisters have not brought you out?"
Galen shrugged a little," they could but my dad is a little crazy... He didn't want me to go into the human world because he was afraid that he would lose me."
"Lose you as in your wouldn't come back? Why wouldn't someone come back? I mean, it's the ocean. Humans dream about being able to swim and explore the ocean like mermaids can," Adrianna replied, shifting on the couch to a more comfortable position.
"Yeah but you see after I was born my mom got really sick and our doctors couldn't do anything so my dad and mom spent a few weeks up here and the doctors here didn't listen to what my dad was saying and ended up killing my mom so he didn't want me here because I look so much like her that......" Galen stopped and looked at her
Adrianna felt her eyes well with tears as she listened to Galen's reason. "I'm so sorry," she apologised, knowing what it was like to not have a parent but she'd never known her father so she recognised the difference between them.
Galen nodded a little bit and looked away from her," Normally when you turn eleven an older sibling or parent or trusted friend takes you for the day above water, but I never got that.... This is really only like my second time on land."
"Seriously? Wow," Adrianna said, shaking her head slightly as she looked at him. "And here I am forcing you to watch Disney movies with me. I'm sorry," she apologised.
Galen smiled a little bit," I don't mind I would have watched them anyways soon since my niece is going to be eleven in a few days."
"So it'll be the first time she comes up? That's pretty awesome. How long will she stay? What's she gonna do? Where's she gone go? What's impenitent enough to show her on the first day? Can she come up any time after that? What are- I'll stop now," Adrianna rambled.
Galen shrugged a little bit," I don't know the answer to any of that.. I know for sure she is coming up here with my sister and they are coming to see me so you can meet her if you want her name is topaz." He repljes
"Well that's helpful," Adrianna scoffed jokingly, rolling her eyes at Galen's answer. "Uh, I'm okay. I'm content with learning to swim. When you go, I'll just go back to life," Adrianna replied with a shrug.
"Come on it will be fun and Topaz and Quinn might be better at teaching you how to swim better than me." He said," Please Topaz will be so happy that she got to meet a real person who's lived here all their life.
Adrianna shifted on the seat again, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear. "Well, I mean, I guess I could. If she wanted to," she replied with a shrug.
"It will be fun and you can help us decide what Topaz should see." He answered looking at her
"Really?" Adrianna asked, a hint of excitement seeping into her voice. "Well, yeah. I'm sure I could help. I mean, you're pretty hopeless," she teased lightly.
Galen nodded and smiled," Yeah it will be great I promise." He said," but none of those wheels that go high in the air." He requested talking about the Ferris wheel
"You mean a Ferris wheel? She'll have to go on one at some point. When she has a boyfriend. That's such a cute, cliche spot to kiss," Adrianna replied. "Do you not like heights?"
Galen shook his head a little," no I'm not I don't think and it's just the air is different here and being so high up will make all of us but you sick.."He explained
Adrianna nodded in understanding. "Makes sense. Like Superman and Zodd. Superman was used to earth , Zodd was only used to Kryptonian and got sick. Sorry, another reference. I'll try to stop," Adrianna apologised again.
Galen looked at her slightly confused but shrugged," Sure whatever you just said... If she was going to be here for a few days I'd say we could try it before she left but they are only staying here for a day
"A day? She's gonna come back up though right? Because there's no way you can fit it into a day," Adrianna replied with her eyes a bit wider.
He nodded," Im sure she will be back soon just we have a big celebration that night so I'm going back home with them."
"Aw that's really cute," Adrianna said with a smile. When it hit her that it meant he was leaving, her smile turned sad for a moment before she made it perk up again. "Well you gotta be happy about that. How long have you been up for?"
Galen nodded a little bit," yeah it will be fun."He answered grinning. You could tell he was happy about going home. "I've only been here for almost two weeks." He replied," But I go home for a day on the weekends."
"Oh wow. You've been here quite a while," Adrianna replied. "You must really be looking forward to leaving and going back there."
He nodded," yeah I'm ready to go back home for a few days... But I'll be back for a little while longer."
"Oh cool," Adrianna replied, annoyed at the feeling of relief when he said he'd be back. She didn't want to grow that close to him. Sure they were the same but they were from two different worlds.
Galen looked at her," What's wrong?" He asked. He could tell something was up he just didn't know what it was yet
"Wrong? There's nothing wrong. What are you talking about?" Adrianna asked, not wanting to voice her stupid, pathetic fears.
"You are hiding something I can tell you are." He answered looking at her
"I'm not hiding anything Galen. What are you on about?" Adrianna asked, pretending to know nothing about what he was talking about.
" whatever you say." He answered looking at her
"Thank you," she muttered when he'd dropped the subject. "I wanted to go swimming but I'm not really up for it. I think I have it now though. The whole swimming thing. I'm fine now," she told him.
Galen frowned a little bit," Well if you think you have it then fine but you should still at least meet my dad so that he doesn't freak out when you get into the ocean."
"Nah, I won't be getting in the ocean," Adrianna replied, waving her hand. She was trying to push him away so she didn't get attached. "I'll just avoid it. I was doing fine till now. If I need to, I'll just use a pool of something," she finished with a shrug.
Galen frowned a little," Did I do something wrong?" He asked looking at her as he didn't understand what she was doing
