Please keep all discussion and speculation to the events of Part 4.

No spoiler tags required. Though it would be highly appreciated if you Uncheck Add to my Update Feed to avoid accidentally spoiling this for your good read friends.

Please do not discuss events from later chapters. Referring back to events from a previous section/book is fine.

This is getting hard to keep up with. I always forget my thoughts/questions by the time I remember to take some notes.

The chronicler has been named a traitor. Interesting.

Interesting to learn from the stones a bit about how the adversary and the stones came about.

Apparently Weaver got some of Vaelyn’s Blood Song when he healed him. Part of his healing allows him to take the gifts of others. That’s a pretty crazy development.

Sad about Caenis, though I haven’t liked him much since the first book. I might be more upset about Nortah’s Cat.

Poor Vaeyln losing his women.

Home stretch now. Seems risky to summon the Adversary like that. I’ve been worried everything at the end was going to feel rushed, or too much would be unresolved, but seems like things are finally starting to converge.

Then end of this part felt VERY info dumpish. At least we got answers, but I might have liked it better if more was done in the memory stones and not a huge exposition.

Justine (justine_ao) So yes, Dahrena dies. this would be the thing I posted in the part 3 thread by mistake and then deleted. I actually thought this part was really sad, but well written. Bill said he wasn't so moved when he listened to it on audio. That was the gist of what got deleted off the part 3 thread. :(

Justine (justine_ao) I'm just at the part where they have summoned the Ally into Erlin but it really isn't clear to me why it has to be done then and there. Why not wait until they get to Volar, then they would at least have Erlin's cooperation up to then rather than having to manage a dangerous captive. Unless there was some worry about the Ally using that time to torture and use Dahrena and Marken's souls which would now be trapped in the Beyond with him? I don't know.

Bill | 1596 comments I'm going to relisten to that scene and see if I missed something.

Justine (justine_ao) I won't be offended if you call me overemtional :)

Yeah. I don't remember this at all. But that shouldn't surprise anyone, should it?

What chapter is that?

Justine (justine_ao) The part where Dahrena was killed was the end of chapter 3 and the part where the Ally was summoned was chapter 6. I think :)

Thanks. I meant Dahrena dying. I do at least remember them summoning the ally. :-)

Suzanne | 1582 comments Ha Rob, one out of two isn't bad. I think the summoning of the ally was a stupid choice at that place/time.

I was WAY more sad about Nortah's cat than about Aspect Caenis. But that whole time I kept thinking - why didn't Lyrna listen to good advice? Why did she go to the road? A lot of her choices seem wrong to me though.

We are getting a lot of information via telling rather than showing, and then my mind wanders. One scene I did really like was the council where it was pretty much Nortah vs. everyone else, as he argued for compassion instead of revenge. I thought the aspects there didn't seem very religious. And I wonder if the queen will keep her promise about not harming innocents. I don't trust her to do that.

I like Vaylins sisters ability to create fantastic machines - but seeing the destruction they wreak is sure affecting her.

Justine (justine_ao) I thought he remembered both! He mentioned them both in his comments at the top, so I just thought he was asking for the exact location in the book. :)

I'm sure I did remember them when I took those notes. Notes that I took a week or so before posting them. But that was weeks ago!
