This discussion covers Part One, Chapter 12 – 25, page 116 - 253

Something about England…

Rodrigo Alfonso (hrodric) | 10 comments Something about Greenwich. And Rebekah and Susannah. Very good the pages where Mason remembers his wife. And he recalled the presence of two women, significant women, in his life. (It reminds me a little to certain passages of 'The recognitions'.)
I like the postmodern style in these chapters. The way Pynchon unfolds past and present, ghosts and living. Is there a hint to religious music? Which character plays an instrument? Mason?
The visit to his sister's house. Here he embraces a warm place. Why go back to work with Dixon?

Maybe the pain of memory drives him away from home and his sons.

Jonathan | 108 comments Something about cheese, the moon and a pickled ear. The pickled ear part was actually quite amusing but I've decided to abandon the book as it's just becoming a chore to read. Pynchon just isn't for me.

Rodrigo Alfonso (hrodric) | 10 comments Anyway this group was closed. My last words are: this book defeated me in a way. But I will re- read it in the near future.
