Kay (kkfar) | 502 comments You ladies have given me sereral new author's names to read. Thank you. Three Sister Island is one of my favorites from Nora Roberts. J D Robb's Death Series is a definite favorite.

Well - I'm delighted to report that Emily & I spoke this morning and we are all in favor of keeping the group going as long as members want to stay involved. There are several approaches we could take to this once we finish Heartsong Cottage, so I'm going to start a new thread about that this evening with some food for thought & a request for your opinions, ideas, suggestions....anything! So - start thinking about what you might like the group to "look like" as we go forward. I'm excited and I hope you are, too!

I LOVE the three sister island series!!! I also love her Blood Brothers, Morrigans Cross, Black Rose, Red Lily, Blue Dahlia, Jewels of the Sun, Chesapeake series, Key series and the Charmed, Enchanted and Entranced books. I have read almost all of her books except the recent ones and the ones she's wrote as J.D Robb. She is so talented! I did run across something though. I bought an ebook and as I was reading it, it seemed so familiar. Then it hit me. It was just like one of her books the only difference was the names of people and places. Other than that it was nearly identical. Even the dialog was similar. I was sick to my stomach about it. I felt bad about buying the book that was "stolen" from another author. Have you ever run across something like that?
Sincerely,
Jina

Jina Gibbs | 763 comments Dear group,
I posted a picture of Heather the day of her cardiac arrest. I did that so you could see how far she has come in her recovery. You have seen recent pictures so now you will know the worst that it was. It's inspirational to me when I see how much she can do after we lost her and were lucky enough to get her back. I hope it inspires you too.
Sincerely Yours
Jina

Wow, KK - I've never had that happen - I've seen pirated books sold or passed along from ARCs that were given in good faith. But I've never run across such a blatant theft of intellectual property. I'd return that book and note in my review it's eerie similarity to a similar novel, without outright calling it theft. I'm all for believing in people as far as giving them the benefit of the doubt, but it's hard to look the other way with something that appears so obvious. It's just sad for all concerned.

I love Sylvain Reynard, Deborah Harkness, Georgina Guthrie, Helena Hunting, Elle Kennedy, Emma Chase, Meredith Wild, and too many more to list. I'm a romance-a-holic, but I like humor and suspense in the mix, too.

Dear Jina,

You must have been in shock !!! She really has come a long way , something to be very proud of!!!! I remember when Wolf was in the Hospital it was so hard. Because I do not drive and the Hospital is about 30 miles away, I couldn't be there as much as I wanted to be.

Jina the Death series is really a great series. Even though there are 40 plus books in the series (I am on 30) they are all new and not repetitive. Love the main characters Eve and Roarke, such a great couple. I have not read all of Nora Roberts books but have really loved them. The Three Sisters and Born in series are my favorite series so far.

I have to say Jina that I have never found a book that was that similar to another authors book. If it was truly stolen that is just sad.

You ladies are definitely piling titles on my TBR list...I've never heard of the Death Series. Sounds interesting. 40 books?!?!?!?

message 312: by Kay (new)

Kay (kkfar) | 502 comments Oh yes Paula! The Death series is great and the characters are awesome. Eve an Roarke are the main ones with others there through the whole series and then others come and go. It can be very intense because there is death and more in every story, but Eve and Roarke's love is deep, intense and beautiful and is worth the dark that comes through.

There is a buddy read for the death series starting January 2016. If I read it correctly they are covering a book a month so it will take years to get through them all.

Wow -- I can imagine. But it might be worth it to check in on that series, especially for newbies.

I'm going to start a thread and anyone who wants to make a reading recommendation -- feel free to add it! If you have the Goodreads link, that would be terrific. It would make it easy for us to add to our TBR lists.

I signed up for that re-read to give the Death Series books a try. I've never read Nora Roberts - not because I didn't want to, because I have an eternity's worth of books on my TBR and my e-reader and my bookshelf...but if I have a month to read each one, I can handle that AND we can keep up with our Emily read/re-read!

Thanks for the link!

Hi, everyone --

I took today "off" so I'm a bit late logging in to check on you all. I hope you've had a peaceful Sunday. Ray and I went out for our first 'date night' in weeks and had a wonderful time trying a new restaurant in St. Helena, on the north end of the Napa Valley. Today we watched football, and tonight I'm reading the ARC of a new novel about one of my favorite subjects -- a chef, gourmet food, and sustainable agriculture. It's very entertaining.

In other news, if you've been following my author page on Goodreads - it's gone. I am still writing, but for personal reasons I am taking a lower profile and will be using a pen name. When I get closer to a finished product, I'll fill you in on where to look, if you're interested. My personal GRs account is unchanged, so if we're friends...nothing has changed.

We're on to another Monday, so let's have a good week & keep enjoying Teardrop Lane together!

Paula

Dear Lola,
I will certainly be praying for your brother. I am off tomorrow so I will set aside time to pray for God to guide the surgeons' hands and for a good report. May you and your family be strengthend and comforted by the Holy Spirit as your friends lift you up in prayer. Peace be with you. Linda Manthey

It's great to know I have all of you to lift me up as Linda said. Hugs Lola

Linda (lindamanthey) | 413 comments Oh Lola,
I am so glad to hear the surgery went well. I will continue to pray for a quick recovery. God is good and He is with us admist what we may see as despair, but He sees as a way of drawing us closer to Him. He doesn't cause the bad things to happen to us, but He uses it to help us learn and to grow. My brother once told me that we are doing one of two things throughout our lives, we are either learning or teaching. I find that to be true in my own life. There are times I wish I could just learn enough to teach for a great while, lol, but it is all in His time. I have learned to trust in the promises of our Lord and be ever present of His grace and mercy in my life. I will keep you in my prayers.
May God's peace be with you.

It is still very, very warm here -- 89 today. The mornings are in the upper 40s. I've pulled the last of my sweet baby tomatoes and brought the basil indoors. This weekend I'll re-pot my orchids and prepare them for hibernation.

Two weeks until we head to Virginia to see our daughter, granddaughter, my mom and some of our friends. I'm going to post a photo of Layla (2 year old granddaughter) in the photo library - you are welcome to post Halloween or fall-themed photos of family or pets if you like! Consider it decorating our virtual space.
