Hi, Jina! I did a little crocheting over the holiday, but have taken a break from writing temporarily. I found myself fighting to get words on the page last week, but I'm starting to feel "the muse" come back to life, so I'm going to sit down and sketch out some scene ideas later today if all goes well.

Sarah loved her paddleboard - Layla keeps climbing on top of it to "get away from the sea monsters!" - mind you, it's sitting in the family room at their house -- but that's the beauty of the unfiltered childhood imagination.

We spent a quiet New Year on the coast and went whale watching offshore on January 2nd. We saw pods of gray whales all around the boat - it was glorious. We also had a blast watching sea lions hanging off a buoy, and a mother otter and her babies in the harbor. It was a great way to ease into 2018.

Thinking of you and the girls, too. xo

Dear Paula
Oh I am soooo jealous!!!! I live whales and sea otters and want to go see them soooo bad. My biggest dream/wish has always been to go whale watching (humpbacks are my favorite and I sketch them all the time). My dream vacation would be to go to Denali National Park and go on that cruise they always advertise on tv. You watch whales and see all these beautiful sights that you can only see there. Sea otters look so fun to watch and the babies are adorable. I have tried to sketch them but it always turns out looking like an alien. Lol I am semi scared of sea lions. They always have stories on the news about them taking over boats or the story and video that went viral last year about the little girl getting snatched and pulled in the water by one. I know my fear is a case of only hearing the "bad" stories of this animal and also not being personally exposed to the creatures.
I am tickled your muse is inspiring you. You have such a lovely talent for writing. I wish I could write but my brother Dana who has read some of my writing says " Jina, you write the way you talk. As I read your writing I can picture you saying it that way". He didnt mean it in a bad way just that I am not a polished writer.
I hope you are having a lovely 2018 so far.
Love and hugs to you and yours,
Jina and the girls

Linda (lindamanthey) | 413 comments Hello my sisters,
I went to the walk in clinic this morning first thing. I am now on ten days of Prednisone and Zyrtec twice a day. I swear I am popping pills all day long with the addition of my regular medications. lol The itching is much better though. I crashed this afternoon. I had not slept much for days. I was not even thinking clearly. Scary.. So I think I can answer some of your questions now. lol

I did not use the oatmeal treatment because it was suggested that I use cold compresses rather than heat. I narrowed down my food intake to a few items at a time and just drank water, nothing helped. The Dr. decided it was stress and anxiety. Big surprise, huh? lol. Enough of that.
I have not accomplished anything as far as sewing projects go. I haven't even tried out my new sewing machine or dress form. I think I may feel up to it by the end of the week.

I have to drive to Seattle on Thursday to see the Psychiatrist for Rite Aids insurance company. I was just going to blow it off but the letter said I would be fined $100.00 if I do not keep the appointment. They just sent me a letter and said an appointment has been made for you on January 11. That's it. Nice, huh?
I just want it to be all over. What a nightmare.

Jina,
It is good to know things are getting better for you and your family. I sorry to hear about Miss. Ann. I will keep her in my prayers and Michael as well. Dave's mom has been in the hospital as well. They admitted her thinking she had pneumonia but then the cardiologist became concerned and did an angiogram. One of the stents in her heart had become ninety percent blocked. He put in a new stent and she spent some time in ICU. She went home but was admitted again this last week because he had a severe nose bleed and they determined she had some type of virus as well. So many of the elderly have been taken with flu like symptoms the progressed into pneumonia. I know it is selfish, but I am glad my dad does not get out much this time of the year. I want him to stay well and comfortable. He seems to be doing okay. His caretaker comes in twice a week and takes him to the grocery if he needs anything. I sure wish I was closer to him. STOP THAT LINDA ! No more worrying or stressing, you will be itching all over again. ( I said it for you because I knew it was coming lol)
I pray all goes well for Heather so she can get her jaw problem taken care of and get it behind her. Let me know what the date is and I will be praying for her during the procedure. God has this, all will be well. I forgot to ask you if the girls would like to have a CD I bought. It's not my cup of tea. It is by a Contemporary Christian artist by the name of Danny Gokey. I will send it to them if they would like it.

I am really tired all of the sudden. I need to see if I can sleep.
I love you sis. I will write some more tomorrow.
Goodnight.

Just a reminder, everyone -- my nursing instincts are powerful this week. For all of you who have family members with chronic conditions - and for those of you who have frail health, for one reason or another - do everything you possibly can to avoid bringing flu into your household. This is a horrible flu year, with a suboptimal vaccine. Hopefully, you got the vaccine, because even if you still get the flu, your symptoms may be less severe and you may avoid the deadly respiratory complications.

Stay AWAY from crowds. Stay AWAY from sick people in waiting rooms. Wash your hands, keep your hands away from your face and keep sanitizing gel/wipes with you. Avoid touching shopping cart handles, stair rails, doorknobs --- treat them like the contaminated items that they are. If you have to go to the emergency room or an open waiting room where flu victims may be, buy a surgical mask (N-95 is best if you have a weak immune system) - and wear it.

People are dying from this flu - I pray that all of you will safely avoid it. I don't mean to be an alarmist, but until the season eases off, usually in March or April, the risk of transmission is extremely high.

Hugs (from a distance!) --

Paula

Jina Gibbs | 763 comments Dear Group,
Update on Michaels Mom, Miss Ann. Today they found a "massive" tumor in one of her lungs. They are going to do a scan and biopsy sometime in the ext day or two. Michael plans to go "home" before any procedure. She barely lived through the last surgery. Her blood pressure has a tendensy to drop down and she doesnt handle anaesthesia well.
I am asking for prayers, I want" God's will be done" whatever that is. If its the "C" word I already have been told she wont undergo treatments. Michael is being brave and in denial of sorts. I will do my best to be supportive but he tends to "be a grouch and pull away so he can deal with things his own time, own way". Its not wrong but makes it hard for us to watch him suffer and not be able to help him through things.
Thanks for your prayers.
Love you,
Jina

Oh, Jina,
I am so sorry things have turned for the worse. I will certainly be praying for God's will to be done. It is a very difficult time for Michael, I know the feeling. If there is no hope for a successful medical intervention, then putting her in God's hands is the only thing to do. Sometimes a persons passing is God's way of healing, of releasing them into the peace of their eternal home to the peace and comfort of the Lord. I know when my brothers and I came to the decision to pray this way we gained a peace and comfort that could never be explained outside the spiritual realm. I was the only one with her when she passed and she just stopped breathing. Quietly and peacefully went to sleep on earth and awoke in the presence of God's glory and grace. I truly believe this. I miss her terribly and still grieve for my loss. I could never grieve for personal loss because she gained so much by leaving this world. No more pain and confusion, no more sadness or longing for a better place without fear, violence and evil because they don't exist within the realms of heaven, they can not exist in the presence of God.
You have my contact information. I am here for you, my sister, Any time. My love to you all.

Father God,
I lift up your child, Michael, for protection, guidance and for traveling mercies. I pray for your perfect will to be done for Miss Ann. Send your Holy Spirit to minister strength, peace, comfort and mercy. May God bless this entire family with His presence and abundant grace. May the Holy Spirit grant Jina the knowledge and wisdom of how to minister to Michael in this time of uncertainty and heartache. Be her voice Lord, give her strength that she may stand in the gap for her dear husband when he needs to know he is not alone and needs support he does not know how to ask for. May he find comfort and solace in the power of your promises, Lord. May this entire family see the mighty hand of God within and without the circumstances they are facing.
I ask these things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen

Jina Gibbs | 763 comments Dear group,
Michael called a few minutes ago. He made it to Indiana. He is staying at his Moms house. His step Dad was also hospitalized today. He has pneumonia and something wrong with the stint in his artery (I think), Michael wasnt certain what was going on with Al. Michael told me it was confirmed his Mom has cancer. They will know more after Miss Anns surgery later today. I wish I was with him but at least he has his brother, Tony, and Michaels Aunt ,Lila, is also there to be with her sister. We also got news that my Dads first cousin was diagnosed with Parkinson's and our dear friend Toothpick (who drives a truck with the same company Michael drives for) Grandma passed away yesterday in the early morning hours. She was 93 and had Alzheimer's. Thats number 3 so my Dad always says things happen in 3's.
I have to go, Heather is coming down with a cold and is having trouble breathing tonight so I need to be by her and plug this kindle in to charge.
Love you,
Jina

Jina,
I have been praying for you and your family most of the day. I am so sorry to hear all the sadness you have been enduring. My prayers are with you. I am praying for Heather as well. I am happy Michael has his family there with him for support. I am surprised they are doin surgery since she did not want intervention. Maybe they think they can remove the tumor completely. I'm sure they have a reason. I pray all goes well and she things improve soon.

I had my appointment in Seattle today. What a freaking nightmare. It was pouring rain, surprise, surprise, and the wind was blowing. I drove for two hours the traffic was so bad stop and go. I have Bluetooth on my car so I called the office to tell them I would be late and they said okay. I was almost thirty minutes late. When I went into the office they told me the doctor had left because I was not there. I was so mad. The girls in the office were so nice and said no one called them to say I was late so the doctor left to go back to his office. They had marked me as a no show. With no other recourse, I went out to the lobby and called the insurance co case manager for my claim. only got her voice mail but I let her have it with both barrels. I told her I was furious and explained what I had experienced. I told her I was not going to pay any fines for not making the appointment and if she wanted me to see her doctor she was going to schedule at the office nearer to me because I was not driving to Seattle again. I don't know if she got the message but it sure made me feel better, lol. She did this to me once before so she knows better. I am going to send her a refund application for my mileage and parking fee. If I could I would charge her for my time. There is no reason for me to see this doctor except to cover the insurance against liability. I am done jumping through their hoops, they can dance to my tune from now on or just fade into the woodwork, I don't care. Whew! I think I am still angry, lol. Sorry to put you through that rant, you have enough on your plate.

My hives are finally starting to get better. This prednisone stuff is the pits. I have lost my sense of taste so everything tastes weird. Maybe that is a good thing and I will lose a few pounds, lol. I have to take if for a few more days so we will see.
It is late. I should try to get some sleep. Not getting much of that lately. I read it was a side effect as well. Anyway I am going to give it a try.
My love to you and the girls.

Lesley | 669 comments Hi Ladies, Hope you all had a lovey Christmas and Belated Happy New Year for 2018 to you all.
Sorry to read about all your ups and downs and hope things are now settling for everyone. I missed you all.
We had a wonderful holiday, weather was in the 30's at the hottest. I'll post some photos as soon as I can. If you're friends with me on Facebook you might be able to see some of the photos I've been tagged into by friends we made on the Cruise.
First I have to deal with the unpacking and amountain of washing and ironging (20+ days worth), collecting our dog from our son's at the weekend and recover from the horrible cough and cold we both caught on the ship in the last couple of days and get used to the cold and damp weather again. What a way to return home after an amazing time!!!. Love & hugs to you all.

It is called "A PIECE OF CAKE" the secret to anti-inflammatory eating. I posted it in on my book page. It is written by Jenny Carr.
I was quite impressed by the content and I am thinking of implementing the start program. If anyone is interested it is on Amazon and listed as unlimited reading if you have the service.

Lesley - Welcome home and Happy New Year! I hope your trip was everything you imagined and more. I need to check with Emily about her UK distribution; I haven't heard from her lately so it's time to check in and see how things are going.

My writing hit a snag - and the snag is me. I'm between 2/3 and 3/4 of the way through the first draft, just got some new feedback from my editor, and I've honestly been afraid to open the file. I'm not going to stop writing - I've had lots of inspiration recently, I just feel like I'm flailing a bit and second-guessing everything right now. But January is tough for me. It's been four years this Monday since I was let go at my previous job, and although it's not been all bad, the number it did on my self-esteem -- and the whopping case of PTSD I got from the process--comes back to bite me this time every year. And next week will be the second anniversary of mom's death, with a reminder of all the trauma surrounding it. Work is crazy - both of my jobs are really demanding right now; and I can't stand to watch the news or check my social media with all the dysfunctional crap going on in our country. Once again I'm reminded of all the things I can't control - and feel desperate to get control over everything I can.

A writer's mind is a dangerous place some days.

In the midst of all this, I am reminded of my blessings and mindful of the genuine trials I see around me, including those who are suffering in this group, and I know that I have much to be grateful for. So, moving on....

I'm going to open the file and read the critique today. Then I think I'm going to take the book down from WattPad, because I know there are radical changes ahead and the story is about to change in a major way. The pressure of seeing it there and knowing it's so far from being a polished, final version taunts me. LOL.

I'm so glad you're back, safe and sound, and I hope 2018 is a wonderful year for you. Ray and I are considering a trip to the UK next fall, if we can swing it. We sent in our Ancestry DNA tests recently and are anxiously watching to find out if I can truly claim England as my homeland. If so, I'm going to beg for political sanctuary from the craziness that is the U.S. these days. ;-)

Hi Jina & girls & All You Ladies

Yes we arrived home on the 10th January, unfortunately we've both come down with the flu virus which is circulating the UK at the moment. Think it might be something to do with the change in temperature & the air conditioning on the ship. Not a good way to start our return though. Even so it was nice to get home as I'd missed our son John & his family as well as Mark's wife Tina, where we stayed for the night on the way to and from the ship.

The cruise was lovely and we met some lovely people. The food was amazing, especially as I didn't have to plan or cook it. There was so much choice, you could eat anytime you wanted to. We did organised trips on most of the islands we visitied, where we drank bottled water. Unfortunately we didn't see any wildlife at sea but we did see Parrots & other birds & wonderful flowers & trees on the islands. Sadly the Turtles haven't returned to some of the islands yet since the hurricans last year. We saw some lovely views, sunbathed & paddled in the sea but didn't do anything so adventurous as a zip-wire.
Entertainment on the ship was available in all sorts of forms so you could do as much or as little as you wanted. We went to talks on the Islands we were visiting and Bob went to one on photography and he took part in a 'Murder Mystery' over five days. We sunbathed, went to the theatre each evening, socialised with new friends and danced on the deck on several evenings including New Year's Eve. We also had a dinner & birthday cake in the 'Ocean Grill' one of the Specialist Resurants to celebrat Bob's 70th birthday. Will add a few phots soon.
Love to eveyone.
Lesley

Dear Lesley,
Hi my Sister! So glad you had a wonderful trip! And returned home safe and sound . Sorry you didnt get to see turtles as they are Heather and my favorite animal. (At least in the top 10. Lol Heather has at least 15 stuffed animal turtles. She collects them and when she is bedridden from being sick, she has us put all her turtles at the foot of her bed along with the stuffed bear from her grandma and a stuffed elephant from Michael when she was 3 and another stuffed pink paisley elephant from one of the doctors from when she was in PICU). I will post a picture of Heather in her hospital bed with all her stuffed animals. She also has some small stuffed animals from a woman named Jen who is Heathers Facebook friend. She sent 7 of various animals from her country Australia! Those she has a special shelf for and when her hand hurts she holds the kangaroo or koala bear. Sorry to get off topic. I am rambling again.
Glad the food was wonderful, I am glad to hear that you got a break from cooking that would be awesome! I get tired of cooking. Its the figuring out what to cook, what everyone will like/want to eat thing that gets to me. I have decided to try new recipes since I also get tired of cooking the same old same old. Sometimes I think "didnt I just cook this?". I am sorry you all got the flu. Be good to yourselves, the flu bug this season is killing people. I am glad you did spend time with family too. How is Mark's wife doing? I am sure the holidays were very hard for her. I am keeping all of you in my prayers.
Hugs to you,

Hi Brandi!
I am both relieved and share in the sadness of your divorce being final. You are starting a new chapter in your life, which is both scarey and exciting. When I went through my divorce I felt free of the abuse but also sad it turned out that way. I also felt very guilty and ashamed since I had broken the vow I made in front of God and everybody. It took awhile for me to come to the understanding that God doesn't want us to be unhappy. The person I married was not the same person I divorced. And that my ex had broken the vows to honor, cherish, be only unto me, and the most important to love me unconditionally. So I hope you arent going through guilt or shame. My divorce was the first ever divorce in my family. On both sides. I was ashamed and embarrassed but my Dad said to me shortly after it was final that he was proud of me for being strong enough to get out of the toxic relationship and I was doing right by my kids for keeping them safe and so they dont grow up with the yelling and abuse. So I just wanted to tell you that I am proud of you for being strong and that I want you to be happy, at peace and safe and healthy so you can start this new chapter of your life being inspired, excited, happy and full of possibilities! I send you our love and hugs.

Dearest Paula,
I have been thinking of you since I know this time of year is hard for you with such difficult memories. We are here for you. I was thinking it may help for you to tell us one of the funny memories of your Mom or you could tell us her favorite recipe or flower. Turning a sad memory into thinking of the good ones may help you through this time of year. My bad day is January 3rd when Heather had her heart attack and our lives changed forever. But the kids and I do something fun on January 3rd every year since to change the anniversary from the sadness of almost losing her to we didnt lose her. Kind of a glass half empty to a glass half full way of thinking. It helps or has for us. Meanwhile, I want you to know you are in my thoughts and prayers and we love you.

Hi, Jina -- I have a hundred crazy stories about my mom. She was a character. Every once in awhile one will come back to me and I get a great laugh out of it. Mom and I were prone to collapse into fits of laughter at the worst possible time - usually in church. A choir member would fall asleep every Sunday; and on one occasion his toupee flopped forward onto his face, and we lost it.

Another time, we were driving to a funeral in central Virginia, and mom was wearing one of those tiny hats with a veil that were so popular in the 60's. The turnpike had just put in automatic coin collectors to replace the toll-takers, and mom, of course, tossed the change out the window and missed the basket completely. She was out of change and we were stuck because the gate wouldn't lift. So mom crawled out of the car and started scrambling around to pick up the change. Her hat flew off, so now she's chasing it on the turnpike. I was crouched down in the seat, embarrassed as only a girl can be when her mother's skirt is flying up in the air and her hat is on the loose. When she got back in the car, she MISSED the basket again, at which point, a guy from another car came and threw in some change to get us out of there. We came completely undone.

Thanks for the reminder. Next time around I'll tell you about our exciting trip to Washington DC where we all got escorted off the grounds of the Pentagon.

Mom loved "chocolate turtle" candy and German chocolate cake. I made a GC cake this year for her birthday in October. It's hard to separate January 21st from the bitterness that followed with my stepfather, but these memories help so much. And at the end of the week Ray and I will celebrate our 28th anniversary on the coast. I am mindful of my blessings even in grief.

Love you
P

Dear Paula,
Thanks so much for sharing the memories and giving me a glimpse of your wonderful mother. My Mom is a character too. My brothers, sister and I call those memories "mom moments". For instance.. my mother grew up in house with 9 siblings. Grandpa was a gruff man with his children, (Mom has told me she kind of feared him but respected him too) grandma Edith was a very Christian woman who never drove, always wore dresses. All but one dress was handmade by her or one of her daughters (she had 8 daughters). They were monetarily poor but rich with love in the household as family came first. So my mother learned from birth to be modest, humble and kind. And to always be a lady.
So when Mom grew up and married and had children of her own, she passed all of those traits, beliefs and traditions to us kids. Well we also learned that somethings were Not to be talked about... for instance that "time of the month" or anything to do about s-e-x. So about 10 years ago my Mom drove herself to the hospital and had a hysterectomy. She didnt tell my Dad or any of us kids. Somebody we are related to (we are related to half of the town, there is less than 600 people in the town and surrounding district) called my Dad to see if he could come to the hospital to sign some papers since she was under anesthetic and couldnt sign for herself. He gets to the hospital and they tell him about her surgery and everything. The doctor admits Mom to the hospital and she is sent to a room to recover and stay for a couple days. My Dad calls my sister Joni thinking maybe Mom had told her. Joni goes to the hospital. When Mom wakes up Dad and Joni are in the room with her. Mom explodes. Granted she's still under anaesthetic and pain medication. Mom is a lightweight when it comes to medicine. She asks "what the hell are you doing here? Who the hell told you?" I didn't want anyone to know. This is a female thing. No one should know but me." And on and on she went. They sedated Mom more so she would rest and not get her stitches or staples( not sure how they sewed her up) undone or tore out. While she was out, Joni (being totally ticked off that Mom didn't tell anybody, especially should have told Dad and /or one of her kids) called my brothers and I to tell us. When Joni called me she started out by saying "you know what your Mother did?" I said "she's your Mom too" Joni said "Not today she's not" and preceded to tell me what Mom did. It took a month before Joni would speak to Mom. My brothers sent my Dad flowers since Mom didnt want anyone to know and they felt sorry for Dad. Joni also called all of Mom's sisters and brother. According to Joni "that will teach Mom what happens if she dont tell anyone something is happening to her healthwise." We call these "Mom moments". Another time Mom waited until after my Dad left to chainsaw a tree down. Picture this, my Mom is 5 feet nothing tall and maybe a hundred pounds and she's lifting a 10- 15 pound chainsaw and is trying to saw a 15 foot tree down. Well the saw gets bound up and twists Moms wrist. So she drives herself to the doctor and she's broken her wrist. If only she had asked Dad it wouldve taken him less than a half-hour to saw it down and haul it off to the dump 2 miles away. Which is what happened once Dad came home. These stories and many more Joni is writing in a memory book that she is making. Last summer when I was home all of us kids and our families were around the table and we got to talking about our childhood and different things. It was such a wonderful day laughing and sharing all the "remember whens". Maybe you too should write a book or journal saving your "Mom and Me moments" so you could share and pass down to your daughter and grand daughter.
One of the things that keeps me up at night worrying about is, if I die tomorrow would anyone remember me or miss me? Would I be forgotten a week after I pass? What would I be remembered as? Would people think I was kind? Or rude? Or whatever.... I think putting memories down keeps a person alive and in our minds and hearts. I know I didnt say that right but I hope you know what I am trying to say.
Again thank you for sharing. What wonderful memory to have, that laughing together... I do that with my children. They think I am silly sometimes. I hope my children will remember the laughter we share.
Love and hugs to you,
Jina and the girls

Jina Gibbs | 763 comments Ok ladies. Heather and Sarah need a couple questions answered. What is the size of rings you would wear? (Sarah likes rings that will fit on her thumb instead of ring finger which is why they are asking for what you would wear) What is your favorite type of coloring pages? (Some people like mandalas, or flowers or landscapes etc...) Last question... What do you most look forward to for each season? (Mine are... Springs green grass and flowers, Summer is activities that we do.. go to the beach, rides on the motorcycle, bonfires with friends, Fall.. the leaves changing color, Winter.. staying in cuddled up with a book or craft and things slowing down so I can get caught up on things) Thanks in advance for your answers.
Love to all,
Jina and thecgirls

Okay, here goes:

My ring finger is a size 5, and that's the only finger I wear rings on these days (I used to decorate myself like a Christmas tree!).

I love flowers, people, and landscapes when I color.

Spring: the first flowers that bloom (narcissus, hyacinth, crocus) AND I go absolutely crazy when buds break through on the grapevines.

Summer: long days, beautiful evenings, dinner outside on the patio, grapes on the vines.

Fall: chill in the air, changing leaves - especially on the grapevines, fall foods. The first rain of the season (it only rains here October-May),

Winter: curling up under a cozy blanket, reading, having a fire in the fireplace, snowfall, alpine skiing, when I can.

Paula

Lola | 1001 comments Hi Sis,
I have no idea what my ring size is I am not one for jewelry.

I like to color flowers and mandalas.

In Spring I look forward to my lilacs blooming and my seedlings popping up .
In Summer, my garden and the first Brandywine tomato in a tomato sandwich. Sitting on the back deck with Wolf watching all the birds and wildlife.

In Fall the harvest of my garden and putting my bounty in the freezer or canning. All the beautiful colors of the trees.

Winter snow ,Christmas ,and planning my garden and starting my seeds.
Love Lola

My ring size, last time I checked, is size 9,
My favorite coloring pages are nature themes, or florals.

Winter- Seeing the first snow on the mountain tops.
Spring- Nature waking up and renewing all things, My wisteria blooming.
Summer- Farmers market and fresh fruits and veggies, Sunny skies, LESS RAIN, fewer grey skies.
Fall- The transition of nature sleeping and all of the beautiful colors it brings, crisp, cool days with the warmth of the sun on your back.

Love to you all, Linda

Spring- First flowers to bloom and the animals with the babies

Brandi (poohfanatik) | 117 comments My ring size is 9.

I love to color anything.

I love the richness of the colors of spring.
I love the warm breezes in the summer.
I love the smell of autumn.
I love the whiteness of winter the freshness of the ice.

I have a subscription to Fresh fiction that auto renewed before I remembered to suspense it. The great thing is I got Emily's newest out later this spring eternity springs book!!! I can't wait to read Caitlin's story.

Lola | 1001 comments Hi All,
Boy will I be glad when winter is over , it feels like I haven't been able to spend any time outside in a year. But wait it almost has been , with all the smoke last summer and the early winter ,I have outdoor withdrawal !!!! lol
I have been doing a lot of crocheting , I made myself a messy bun cap, have you seen these? It is a cap with a hole in the top for your ponytail or bun . I love it no more having to shove all my hair in the cap, and I have a lot of thick hair. Do any of you crochet or knit? This may be something you already do, but it came to me when I was putting one of those big round plastic containers that the kitchen wipes come in ,in the recycle bin. They are perfect for those big skeins of yarn, it even has a slot for the yarn to go through ,I leave a little of the yarn sticking out . I am making lap afghans for the Veteran Hospital in Helena. I wish I had started earlier because don't think I will be able to finish this winter, I will aim for next Christmas.
Looking forward to Emily's new book!!! Love Lola

Jina Gibbs | 763 comments Hi all,
I hope everyone is healthy and happy. Many things are happening at my house now, tons of appointments and projects going. I have checked to see if there was any new news on the page but I haven't posted on Goodreads for a long time it seems. Please know even if I dont post, y'all are in my thoughts daily and I miss hearing from all of you.
Like I said its been busy here. Something is going on that I am not ready to talk about. I am heartbroken and shocked at recent events so I am a little lost. I will be ok and the kids are ok so dont worry. I know you my sisters will keep me and mine in your prayers which helps immensely.
There is some good news, Heather is back on track to get her jaw fixed. Our January 4th appointment got cancelled due to bad weather so it was rescheduled for February 21st. My appointment to get results from MRI is the 19th so I am glad I will get answers soon.
Heather has straight A's so far this year and is on track for graduation with Sarah. And even though Heather gets homebound schooling with the teacher coming to our house twice a week due to her health she will be able to attend Senior prom so we have been hitting thrift stores looking for dresses for Sarah and Heather which has been fun. I also found a lovely pearl necklace, earrings and bracelt set for them to wear. Heathers pierced ear holes have closed but I will get them repierced which she is looking forward to.
Sarah is looking to go to Pitt Community College in the fall for Radiology. Sam is considering going back to college as well. Heather, Sam and I are going to try to take an American Sign Language class so as to give Heather another way to try to communicate. I am also going to try to get Heather in a photography class. Its what she has wanted to do since she was 4. I think that would be a great thing for her to look forward to and good fine motor skills therapy as well as the motor planning for her to think through the steps to get the pictures she wants. She loves black and white photography and Ansel Adams pictures are among her favorites. Realistically speaking Heather probably wouldn't be ever cleared to work since she has so much going on with her health but I want her to continue to be learning and growing all that she can. She loves sciences and Math so maybe after photography and ASL, I can put her in a computer or science or biology class. Heather makes wonderful power points of things she likes to research. Shes done some on turtles, wolves and Native American indians and folklore. Can you tell I am a proud Mama? Lol
Time to get motivated to get the girls ready for their day. Love you all. Looking forward to book discussions soon on Emilys next book. I would love to see a picture of her grandson someday.
Hope to hear from you all soon. Have a great day.
Love,
Jina

I finally got the refi of my house done. I am a homeowner in my own right. Things are finally settling from the divorce. Been crocheting a lot and reading more than I had in the past few months. Finally getting back into my grove.

Melinda M (researcher707) | 592 comments Jina,Glad to hear you and the girls are back on track with the health stuff and school. I have been busy going thru files and getting rid of old papers. Have not been reading as much as I have had a problem in my left eye from an old surgery . I was told to take it easy and go back for follow up on Feb, 21 which is Heather's appointment . Jina know you and the girls are always on my prayer list.
Brandi, glad that things are settling down for you. I can not crochet as it is either too tight . too lose but my Mom tried to teach me. I needlepoint and make loop potholders that I started making potholders when I was in 4th grade. CONGRADULATIONS ON BEING A HOMEOWNER! I am sure that is no more thing off the list that you had to do .
I already pre- ordered Emily's book.

My first 8 week class did not take as not enough students but it worked out for the best. Between me and Mom, it has been busy with doctor appointments and Dad even had a couple. It would be hard to rest my eye if I was teaching. The 2nd 8 week course starts the 5th of March but I will not know until then if it takes.
You are all in my prayers

Hello, Ladies—-

I’ve been offline in the group for too long, and I feel terrible about it. I don’t know where the time goes, but there is so much going on at home and at work that I feel strung out at the moment. I’ve escaped into reading, which as always soothes my frazzled mind. I’ve also been crocheting. When I’m not working or traveling for work.

We are healthy, the weather is too warm and dry for this time of year, but all in all things are stable around here. I’m having some sleep issues that I’m working on. I’ve cut back on social media and watching the news. Im spending time outside while the weather is so unseasonable, and trying to disconnect from anything that piles on stress. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

Jina, Linda, Melinda, Lesley, Brandi —- I’m thinking of you more than it may appear based on my “quiet” periods. If you need me for anything, or just want to chat, message me and I’ll get right back to you.

I hope you all have a blessed, healthy, safe weekend.

Hugs,
Paula

Lesley | 669 comments Hi Lola,
Lovely to hear from you. We're doing ok most of the time but really looking forward to Spring & hopefully some better weather so we can start to get outside in the garden more.
I've been busy washing, ironing & putting our holiday clothes away. Also I've made a photobook of the photographs we took on holiday. I'm now talking to my niece about making a photobook of my Sister's life and have started to collect photographs together for it. It's a bit emontial at times but I'll get there & think it will be theraputic. Cann't believe the time has gone so quickly since we lost Judy and Mark. It will be a year in May yet it also seems like yesterday.
Love to all xx
