Dear KK,
Happy Birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday Dear KK! Happy birthday to youuuuu!! iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii :) I hope you have/had a spectacular day! I wish you all the best health, happiness, prosperity and memories for the coming year. I wanted to do something special for you today for your birthday but for the second day in a row Sarah fainted at school and I had to go get her and talk to her cardiologist to see why she is having worse symptoms now than before her heart surgery. They are setting up an appointment for her to have a "tilt table" test done on Monday. Until then she is to rest and go everywhere with a buddy just in case she faints again. Whew! She has fainted/ been in the ER 3 times in the last week. I was up for 2 days straight earlier this week. Last night I laid down beside my girls on the couch and was going to close my eyes for "just a minute" and my eyes ended up being closed from 6:45 pm last night to 5:45 am this morning. My kids said "Mom you was snoring so loud last night you scared the puppy!" Lol. I guess I was tired huh?! Anyway, I hope you have a great day! I will keep your hubby in my prayers for a speedy recovery.
Sincerely Yours,
Jina

Hello, my friends! I've enjoyed catching up with the well-wishes and the community spirit in here this morning. This is my birthday weekend, so I'm working today and part of tomorrow, but Sunday - the actual day - is reserved for family time. It's that one day a year that I surrender to anything that pleases me - which as you know is usually books, good food and fine wine. I'll be watching out but not online as much as I usually would on a Sunday. We have a couple of day trips planned.

Today, however, did NOT start out well. I don't know if any of you have had any experience with bullying or cruelty on social media, but I woke up to a vitriolic personal attack - fortunately in a private message to my author page, not my personal page - from someone I don't know, who for some completely unknown reason, sought me out for criticism of a very personal nature. I don't know her at all, which is what made it all the more cruel. I can take criticism if I've wronged someone inadvertently - and truly it's never, ever deliberate - but I got my butt handed to me by a total stranger for reasons she didn't explain. I'm actually considering taking down my author page in favor of just using my personal page and sticking with my followers there. For now, I'm working on the bite marks and scratches.

There is one silver lining. While I was drying my hair, a new muse spoke to me and gave me the prologue to a new story for my Lost & Found series. He's a mean, bitter son of a gun, but he spoke loud and clear - and I started writing when I least expected it. So - out of every bad moment brings the promise of something good.

That's all I've got for now. I'd love to know what you're doing to celebrate this weekend - nearly the last one of summer. I hope your families are well, you are at peace and ready to relax. Take care. xo

Jennie Veazey Happy birthday Paula!!! I hope you have a wonderful day and don't even look at the blog on Sunday! Enjoy your day, you deserve it!

In regards to the person (bleep) who verbally accosted you this morning, remember that they must not like themselves much so they hate on everyone else. Sad to say but very true! I only know you here but find you to be very sweet and thoughtful. I don't think you would deliberately be so critical or hurtful to someone else. I do love how you took that anger that was thrown at you and turned it into a good idea for a book!! You are really creative dear Paula. I am happy and proud that the warrior inside of you, your spirit, can make a positive from a negative!

Enjoy the weekend, and Cheers to you dear friend! : )

I try to remind myself that even snakes have a purpose - although the rattlesnake on my driveway a few days ago was clearly just hanging out to catch some heat and scare the daylights out of me. In this case, I've come out of that little bit of drama more grateful for the people who uplift and encourage us, and mindful of all the blessings I have.

I had a girl on her following my reviews and when she realized i had arcs she actually asked me for them! I posted on my wall and alerted the author and all my other authors and friends to watch for this. You all work so hard to have someone do that. Dont let this cruel person get to you they clearly dont know how wonderful you are and obviously took their bad mood out on you its not your problem but theirs. Keep smiling and just do you :)

In this case, after I picked my jaw up off the floor, I followed my own advice and got a manicure, added a pedicure...voilá! Spirits lifted. And thank you for telling the author and others to watch out for such people. It's theft, pure and simple, but many readers unfortunately don't see it that way. It's a thriving industry but every one of us who takes a stand against it makes the book world a better place. xo

Thats awesome! Im so glad you treated yourself! Thank you. I just couldn't stand by and do nothing. Thankfully im friends on Facebook with a ton of authors! They all were grateful and i was just happy to help. I was disturbed by the way i was approached like we were bff's i didn't even know her and i responded with the links to the books she claimed she couldn't find anywhere. Then she responded by saying where she lived she couldn't use her visa credit card? I looked at her books read and reviewed and realized she was a huge liar. I am now wondering if her whole page is a lie. All her reviews are probably based off what other people's reviews were and she just made up stuff on her own. Its sad but i told the author to be careful because this person is not what they appear to be. She said i had a good point lol but honestly most authors if asked would happily give you their book for a honest review. Ive either won arcs or given them by the authors. I won Christina Dodd contest for Her Virtual Falls reviewers club and i love it! I love getting her new books in the mail to read and review! Gives me something to look forward too. People just need to try or ask first not take or cheat to get it.

Kay (kkfar) | 502 comments Paula I am so sorry you had to deal with such a thing but so happy a positive came from a negative. When you think of bullies you think of high school kids. Unfortunately, some people never grow up and some people are not happy unless they are lashing out at others. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend.

Jina Gibbs | 763 comments Happy Birthday Paula! I hope you have a spectacular day! And I hope its followed by a year of great health, wonderful memories, prosperity and true friends. I am so sorry you had a bad experience this week. Since she didnt explain why she was bashing you, it could be that she even had the wrong person. Either way she sounds like she was very immature and cruel. My motto is that if someone has a problem with me they need to discuss it with me like an adult, if they are cruel or vulgar- I don't have time for them. Lifes too short for that kind of negativity. If it helps, please know that we love you and admire what you do. We are here for you whenever you need us for anything, an ear, a shoulder, a laugh, whatever... etc..
(((Hugs))) to you,
Your friend,

What is an Angel Garden Jina?
Just wondering

message 184: by Jina (new)

Jina Gibbs | 763 comments An Angel Garden is a garden space where you have an angel statue in the garden. You fill the garden with plants that were favorites of your parents, grandparents etc... anyone who means a lot to you. You can put pretty rocks, fairy houses, hummingbird feeders whatever in the space. Its a garden where everything in it reminds you of someone or a trip you took or a friend.
Sincerely,
Jina

Sounds like such a wonderful idea Jina! I have a small angel statue out on my balcony where I keep plants (I even have a fairy garden) and it does bring me peace when I'm out there. Love the idea of adding things that remind you of people, trips, etc.

This is a new idea for me - but I already have ideas of what to put in the one I will create next spring! My aunt Mary had these deep salmon-colored roses; my grandmother loved gardenias; my father gave me daffodils...what a wonderful idea, Jina! Thanks for sharing it!

What a lovely idea Jina. I have not heard of this before but I am already planning what mine would be like.
As most of you know we have been homeless for two years, living in motels. I applied for a pre-qualification morgage and we have been accepted. What a great idea! I planted trees for my Sister Sandra ,My favorite Aunt and my Momma, I paint a rock with their Birthdays and the day they passed. Sadly the one I planted for my Dad went to met him in Heaven . I will have to plant an Angel garden for him instead , huh maybe that is why his tree didn't make it, since my Dad taught we almost everything I know about gardening.

WOW, ladies, I am off to a terribly late start today. Speaking of insomnia - I tracked my sleep this week using my new birthday fitness gadget, and the results were deplorable. One night this week, I actually slept 8.5 hours straight. Every other night, I slept - at most - 2 hrs and 41 minutes in 7 hours. My fitness gadget suggested that I "set some sleep goals" - like I suppose - #GetSomeSleep!! Anyway, I ended up going back to bed (husband snores like a Yeti) - so my sleep goal for the morning was met.

Now - what's everyone doing this weekend? What are you reading? I'm editing one novella, and beta-reading a full length romantic thriller. One is very spicy, the other is very suspenseful. Note: do not read at bedtime. I am also taking it easy, writing, and checking in with the group - so I hope you are all off to a good start for your weekend!

Hi Paula,
"Snores like a yeti." Lol Thats a new comparison and hilarious. I have one of those in my house as well. My kids tell me I snore too but only when I am REALLY tired or sick. I just emailed you my cast of characters for Eternity Springs. I hope you enjoy it and maybe share it with the group if it's worthy.
This weekend my husband and I are riding the motorcycle to Wilmington NC with some friends if all goes well. I am a little nervous about going, Sarah fainted 5 times last week. Its been 4 days since the last time and her Dr increased her medicine and thinks that will do the trick. She came home early from school today feeling dizzy. She says she feels better now but I still worry. Even if we go tomorrow, we will be less than 2 hours away. My oldest daughter, Samantha, who is 24 will be home with the girls and can handle most anything. Other than that I will do yard work and housework... oh joy! Have a great weekend everyone.
Sincerely Yours,
Jina

I love it that I know where you're going - I've been through Wilmington so many times, and I love it there! North Carolina is truly one of my favorite places to go. Even more important, the time you spend doing what you enjoy will be good for your entire family. Sarah will feel like she's making progress, Samantha will feel like she's helping and will feel your trust in her - and you and your husband will have the alone time that is so often absent in our lives - especially those as challenging as yours has been lately. I hope you have a wonderful time!

I absolutely loved the thought you put into your fantastic dream cast and I think I know how to share it - I'm playing with it now to make sure it will work!! That was such a wonderful thing to do for us, Jina - you are an invaluable member of our group.

So - everyone - I'm working today, taking a side trip with Ray tomorrow to one of our favorite places (early in the day because it's screaming hot out here again) - and then back to do some writing. I got some really helpful feedback from my editor and am very excited to see how it transforms the story. But work comes first...and the guilty pleasure of popping in here to see how everyone is and what they're up to! Take care & stay safe.
