Lesley | 669 comments I'm thinking about you a ll. Sorry about split post but internet is playing up today for some reason. Must be the really hot weather we are having here in UK at the moment. We aren't getting much done until late afternoon or early evening or morning cause it's too hot. Not that I'm complaining, just making the most of it whilst it lasts. Love to all xxx

Brandi (poohfanatik) | 117 comments Thanks for the thoughts, Ladies!!!

I just hope that things level out once he moves out and we get on a schedule. It is hard right now with him still in the house. He has someone else he confides in and that is hard for me.

getting back into the dating world is a scary thought. going slow and probably not getting involved in any relationship for a while. just need strength til I get more use to being by myself.

Linda (lindamanthey) | 413 comments Hello ladies,
I apologise for being away so long.
Brandi,
I don't have personal experience with your situation, so I will not try to advise you. I will continue to pray for God to guide you in your decisions and that He will, in His mercy, grant you peace and heal your broken heart.

Jina,
Thank you for sharing your experience and wisdom with Brandi. I am in awe of you and your strength. May God richly bless you for your dedication to helping others and showing love and compassion. I am proud to call you my friend.
It breaks my heart to know Heather is not doing well. I will pray for her, and you and the rest of the family as well. I know it must be overwhelming at times. God is good, and He will be with you. If I have learned anything this week it is to lean on the Lord and pray for His comfort and grace daily. I don't know how people without faith make it through something like this. It is heartbreaking to watch someone as dear as my mother linger and waste away before your eyes. If I could not go to the Lord in prayer and know He will comfort me and hear my cries for mercy for my mother, I honestly don't think I could remain composed and stay strong for my dad. They have been married 63 years. How do you release someone you have loved for so long? I cried when my dad got close to her ear and told her he was going to be okay, that he released her to go home to be with the Lord. Whenever someone asks about her he just says she is in the hands of the Lord, He will call her home when He ready. WOW!

Paula,
Your daughter is so blessed to have you in her life. Cherish your relationship with her, time goes by so quickly we can't afford to take anything for granted.
If you feel your book is worthy of publication, fight the urge to put it down. Don't let those petty people discourage you. Jina had high praise for the portion she read and I trust her opinion.

Lola,
I have been to the falls and I agree, they are amazing. So happy you got the chance to enjoy them once again.

Lesley,
I pray you are doing well. It has been hot, here in Oregon, as well.
The temperature is to reach 97 today. Thank God my parents have central air conditioning. I remember days when I was pregnant with my fist son, I would go to the bathroom and stand in the shower under the cool water. We had a horrible heatwave that year.

Well, I should get busy doing something around the house. So much needs to be done to make the house easy access for my dad. He needs to have everything where he can reach it easily.
Have a wonderful day.
Hugs, Linda

Lola | 1001 comments Wow The peace didn't come ! I am so sorry everyone has something popping right now! Wolf and our Son-in-law Bill are on the outs, and they say women are emotional! It will blow over soon.
Little Sister Jina, Tell our Heather I am sending her Hugs and Kisses all the way from Montana, and pray she is better real soon ! You have my address, maybe you can go on Google map and show Heather how far my home is from yours. I love that web site , my Sister Verna just bought a new home and I could see it.
Linda I am sorry about you having to go thru all this with your Mom. I wasn't there when my Mom got so sick, we just couldn't afford the trip from here to Texas, and she went so quick at the end I couldn't have gotten there. I was so glad I did get to talk to her the day before.
I wanted to tell you all, I am rereading Mark , and then A Callahan Carol and Christmas in Eternity Springs. The new book is about Brick and I want to refresh my memory of his story. Thank goodness they are all audio books so I can listen while I work. Man I miss the chickens they sure kept the weeds under control ,now it is up to me lol. The guys from Lowes are coming on the 29th to tear out our old bathtub and put in the walk-in-shower, I can't wait. Graceful I am not and getting older it shows! lol so I am going to really like not having to step over the side of the tub.
I had better get my butt to bed. Love, Lola

Hi, ladies - For the last two days I haven't been able to post to Goodreads. I write the post, then the cursor just blinks into infinity. So I'm trying again; hopefully, this one works.

I'm always gobsmacked (to use one of my favorite British slang words) by all the things going on in our lives simultaneously. I don't know where to begin to let each of you know that I'm thinking of you and hoping you are finding some time to rest and renew in the midst of all of our personal and family crises.

Lola, it's a great idea to do some re-reading. I may do the same this weekend. I've been "off" on my reading recently. I read two books in one day last week when I was flying home, but since then I've been in a bit of a dry spell. The primary reason is that 24 hours after I got home I developed the worst summer cold I've had in years. And I'm sure everyone is aware of the various heat waves going around - the UK is seeing record temperatures, and we've been in triple digits all week. It's going to be 112 tomorrow here. Needless to say, I'm staying in the air conditioning as much as possible.

Recent events have caused me to fall behind in everything - especially my clinic projects. I'm feeling overwhelmed. I told Ray this past weekend that between the writing retreat and the trip home to Virginia, I don't feel like the same woman that left California a little over two weeks ago. I'm trying to figure out what that means. It's as if everything that mattered so much "before" is less significant now, and I'm struggling to make sense of it.

Writing is usually a way of coping with that - so as soon as I can pick my head up off the pillow again, I'll deal with it. For now, the body needs rest, fluids, and boxes of Kleenex.

Keep the faith ladies -- will check in tomorrow.

Paula

Lola | 1001 comments Dear Linda,

Pray for Others
I pray for my loved ones, conscious of the presence of God within them.
Wednesday, June 21, 2017

Holding others in prayer is a powerful, sacred process. I realign my whole self, including all that I think, say, and do, with the healing, protecting presence of God. I pray for my loved ones, conscious of the presence of God within them.
I let go of all concern or anxiety about each person by saying, “I bless you, knowing you are enfolded in divine loving care.” I pray that they stay attuned to their spiritual source, and that they feel the love of my prayers.
The sacred activity of prayer clears my mind. I am confident that my loved ones are safe and secure, guided into their highest outcome. I am grateful for the presence of God moving through every person and every need.

Therefore … pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective.–James 5:16

Hello, ladies --

I had a quick email exchange with Emily today, congratulating her on her new release, and she asked me to convey her greetings to you. It's been a busy time and she's on the go with career and family commitments.

I also found another group on Goodreads that is discussing the Eternity Springs series - I didn't know it existed, and I don't know the moderator, but they also discuss other contemporary and western romance novels as well. Here is the link if you're interested: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

But please don't leave us! If you can think of anything that would make our group more interactive and relevant to you, just drop me a line or post a comment.

I'm posting lots of topics under A Stardance Summer today, but don't feel compelled to answer them all - only what interests you. And if I missed anything, please send me a suggestion!

P.

message 1778: by [deleted user] (new)

Ladies - If you're on Emily's newsletter list you already know this - but A Stardance Summer hit the USA Today and the Publisher's Weekly bestseller lists (the New York Times no longer includes mass market paperbacks on their list). She is thrilled.

Emily is currently looking for a few readers who are willing to read all of her historical fiction paperbacks, looking for typos and other errors - she's re-editing them. She will send you all the paperbacks -- if you're interested, email her at emily@emilymarch.com! (I wish I could do it, but my book will never get written and my clinic projects won't get done if I volunteer.).

Have a good weekend!

Hi, Ladies --

Ray and I are escaping to the Mendocino Coast this weekend to give me some uninterrupted writing time by day and wine-ing time by night. I always find peace and inspiration over there, and next week at the clinic is going to be a mess, with two federal deadlines, one for a complex report and another for a grant proposal. And a board meeting on Monday night. I may need to escape again NEXT weekend.

I will have very limited access to cell phone coverage and wifi (fortunately my manuscript is on my hard-drive and backed up regularly). I will check notifications when I have occasion to go into town in pursuit of the ONE Starbucks on the coast. If it feels right I may publish another chapter to Wattpad, but it still makes me nervous every time I do that. *sighs*

I hope you have a very peaceful, healthy and blessed weekend and that you are enjoying A Stardance Summer or some other delightful favorite read.

Take Care,

Paula

The widespread Goodreads glitch has finally landed in our group. All comments are showing up "new" regardless of how long ago they were initially posted. If I had to guess, I'd say GRs made some software updates on the back end that screwed up the interface. I hope it's fixed soon, but it's been spreading over groups for days and moderators are ready to pull their hair out.

Hi, ladies -- I hope you are all doing well and are off to a good start this Monday. I've been offline for a few days dealing with some family stuff and trying to unwind. I find that between the national news and the social media whirlwind, I need to spend more time offline and away from the TV to keep myself from being overwhelmed. I don't know what it is, exactly, but something has changed and I've been having repeated anxiety attacks recently - no particular triggers, but just too much "stimulation" and stress. So I may be a bit quieter online than usual, but know that you are always in my thoughts.

Ray is off today and I'm going to take a few hours and try to lose myself in some writing. I did a bit of a reading marathon this weekend - simply reading for pleasure, not for the purpose of reviewing. I think I may pull back from that a bit as well. I'm feeling a little tired of trope-driven romance, aka "the flavor of the month" kind of plot; the bandwagon that everyone is jumping on this week, or this month, or this summer. I have read some spectacular new books and series this year, but the more I read, the choosier I get!

I'm rambling, so I'll check out for now -- if you have any ideas for how we might liven things up in here a bit, please pass them along. I'm going to post a random question to start a sharing session, so watch out for it!

Lola wrote: "The more we get into these next 3 1/2 years the more I worry ! I have been alive 68 years and I have NEVER seen anything like this. As political as I will get! Love Lola"

I'm careful about expressing my views on social media because it's supposed to be social. I'll be exercising my rights by donating to the causes I believe in, supporting political candidates who represent my views, and voting according to my beliefs. I speak up when I must, but I do it privately, or in a forum designed discussion, not fighting. I am deeply saddened by the events in Charlottesville this weekend, being a Virginian by birth - I've spent many beautiful weekends and vacations there and it is one of the kindest, friendliest, cultured and historic places in the state. I'm saddened to see history repeating itself and violence breaking out, and consider it a serious warning for our country.

I do think it's adding to the stress that's provoking my anxiety attacks - I can barely stand to watch the news and I scroll my social media feed with a cautious eye these days.

And I look for uplifting reads to keep my spirits high. :-)

Take care
Paula

Dear Paula,
Maybe thats the answer. Maybe in between Emily's books (since she can write as quickly we read her lovely stories), we could pick another uplifting book, something that reminds us how blessed we are. Like Evan Almighty movie, you change the world with an ARK. An Act of Random Kindness. I cant watch the news without getting upset or discouraged. The current daily theme here is the Confederate soldier statues in some towns. The one on the news last night was built in 1889. Nobody had a problem with it until this last month. Its a statue for heaven's sake. It's a symbol of history our country has went through. Someone once said that we need reminders of where we've been so mistakes or atrocities will not be repeated. Plus what people seem to forget is during the civil war some families had sons that were on different sides of the conflict. Sometimes it was simply there were recruited or would face their house getting burned down. But now we are supposed to tear down all these statues and flags that people have lived with all their lives and largely ignored or took for granted. America is supposed to be a mixing pot of nationalities. Why do some nationalities get to have the symbols of their ancestry but others dont. I wonder if America will become a "plain" non patriotic non descript nation where our heritages arent celebrated or remembered. Whats next??? Its sad. So my way of trying to close the racial gap is I smile and say Hi to everyone I meet. I offer help to anyone that needs it regardless of color. I open doors for people and do my best to be a positive force. Anyway, I think we are all tired of negativity so maybe we could read your Deborah Harkness series or choose something thats a group favorite in between. Especially since this group is such a loving and fun group.
Love,
Jina

Lola | 1001 comments Coming from semi-south, Texas, I to do not want this country to forget the mistakes that have been made in the name of "righteousness" . I can see why some people are offended by the statues that praise leaders of the south without having statues praising the slaves who had to live through that time in our Country. They didn't ask to come here ,they were kidnaped . If you want to know the truth if you are not an Native American Indian you are an immigrant !

If you go back far enough even the Native American Indians came from either south of Us or across the Bering Strait land bridge so we all need to get along. It is nice to know someone knows basic history. You can tell classes started this week. basic everything is missing at times. Hey Big Sis,
So glad Wolf is doing great! Its probably all that fresh from the garden food you make him.
I recently found out my ancestors came here on whaling and fishing vessels. They started out here in Vermont, Massachusetts and Maine and most eventually moved westward when the government was offering homesteads. However my children from their fathers side have a darker past. Nearly half committed suicide or had severe mental illness along with alcoholism. I try to emphasize the good things from the immediate family tree for them. Their Czechoslovakian heritage has a love and loyalty to friends and family, very musical passionate people and wonderful cooks.
At my brothers town they celebrate all flags and nationalities. They have a park that is lined with hundreds of flags. I hope the fires and smoke are better now. Take care.
Love,
Jina
