Lesley,
Life is always changing . I am sure that you and your hubby will keep busy. Enjoy the grandchildren and the upcoming wedding. A Christmas season wedding is good for not forgetting the anniversary.

Lesley | 669 comments Hi everyone, Arrived home safely from looking after Grandchildren for weekend. Managed to spend some quality time with each of them inbetween their individual social engagements. Men's wedding suits chosen & apparently they look very smart & yes Melinda we will not have any excuses to forget Anniversary.
Judy update: Drs have decided to stop her chemo because her bloods aren't recovering & it's making her very ill. They are going to give her 12 sessions of Radiotherapy instead & hopefully that will stem the progress of the cancer then I suppose it will be 'wait & see'. Weather at Doncaster was wonderful & sunny but came home to heavy rain which apparently 'hubby' said he had had most of the weekend. Hope you all had a relaxing weekend, whatever the weather & wherever you are. Love to all Lesleyx

Congratulations on the wedding! How exciting! Weddings are wonderful. The Faith, Hope and Love displayed throughout the day is palpable. I love weddings that have receptions and music. The music they play seems to fill people with joy and laughter. I hope Judy feels better soon.

Jina Gibbs | 763 comments Update on Heather. I haven't been on since Wednesday of last week. Heather was out of sorts Tuesday night and couldn't get to sleep until 3am. When she woke up it wasnt better. Doing a lot of crying and saying she was in pain. I gave her meds to try to make her feel better.I gave her a feed in her gtube Then about 30 minutes later she collapsed. It took 8 minutes for her to come around with my husband and I shaking her arms, rubbing her legs and head. When she came to she vomitted. We asked her to follow commands like "follow my finger", sqeeze my fingers", "wiggle your toes" etc It wasnt going good, she couldn't follow my finger correctly, she squeezed my finger on one hand but not the other, she could wiggle her toes. When we got her up to walk to the wheelchair she walked with her toes up in the air and on the side of her foot. We went to the ED they did xrays, CT scan and labs. The also did an EEG. The drs said that EEG was abnormal and the CT scan showed no bleeding or more significant damage from the last one. They put her on trilepol (sp?). She ended up being allergic to it. She was scratching herself constantly, she was trying to pull her fingernails off, pulling her hair, from Wednesday to Saturday she only went to the bathroom 4 times, she had real bad edema, she didnt smile or acknowledge company when they would come to see her and she doesn't want any lights on. They told us to stop the new medicine andthey put her on Ativan. That has helped her a lot. There is no more scratching or trying to remove her nails. She is weak though but we are determined to get her better. She had a follow-up appt today and the dr said they arent sure if it might be a mini stroke or seizure. The word Epilepsy was used as well so I have some researching to do.
I hope y'all are doing well. I am happy for the cooler weather. I love fall and all the colors when the leaves start changing, the crispness of the morning air.
Paula I hope you had a wonderful birthday week. Your pictures on Facebook are gorgeous. I want to swim out to the short rock and sunbathe. I am so happy you get to spend such wonderful time with your husband. I hardly see mine. He's always working. I love him more than anything except my kids and its hard being apart so much. I would love to see more pictures when you get time.
Love to all,
Jina

Linda (lindamanthey) | 413 comments Sorry to be out of touch for so long ladies. I have been working and trying to keep up with everything at home. I haven't been online much at all lately. I have just checked email and facebook to check on family and friends.
I went on a job interview today. They could not offer me full time so I had to decline the position. I will keep looking just by chance something comes available. They did keep my resume though so I guess that is a good thing. I heard through the grapevine at work that the buyout of Rite Aid by Walgreens is going to go through by the end of the year. A big anouncement is planned for December. And they could not buy all of the Rite Aid stores. I am not sure how secure my job is going to be by the end of the year. I am searching for something else just in case I find myself unemployed come December. I guess there is always unemployment compensation they would surely have to pay me that if they close the store. I just need to find something to fall back on. Lord knows I'm not in love with the company I work for. They have done nothing to deserve my dedication. They have cut my hours, taken away my vacation time and require me to do the job of three people at any given time without any extra pay. If you work less people during opening hours your operating expenses look much better on paper and you can sell the company at a better profit margin. And they have told us nothing. The people who have kept them afloat for years are in the dark about their future. I only found out what I did because I know people who are privy to information only the higher ups get. I guess I will just have to trust God to lead me in the right direction and be open to whatever that is. He has not brought me this far to abandon me now. Romans 8:28.
Everything will work out for the best. I truly believe that,
Please pray that I will find peace and direction as I begin a new journey in my life.
Thank you.

Jina,
My prayers are with you and your family. I am so sorry you are going through yet another crisis. God bless Heather. She has suffered so much in her short life. I pray she will regain all she has lost. I know you must be beside yourself with concern. Please take care of yourself. You need your strength to fight for Heather. I will stand with you in prayer for the best possible recovery of all this pain and heartache. Matthew 18:20
Hug the girls for me. Love to you all.

Dear Lesley,
I happened to go to the bookstore when there was a book signing going on. The particular author is very popular and lives here in North Carolina. I personally havent read his books but I have watched some of the tv movies that are based on his books. I was browsing throufh a stand of books which was close by where they had put out some donuts and coffee for the people who came to see the author. He was taking a break from signing and getting himself a krispy kreme donut. He made a comment to his helper.. "how much longer in hickville?" I thought that was so rude and disrepectful of the store and all that the employees had done to make him feel welcome. I dont even watch his made for tv movies anymore. If it wasn't for "hicks" buying his books he wouldn't be doing as well as he is. Anyway, I was just wondering if anybody had had something similar happen. I met a couple other authors and they had polar opposite personality to this man. They were very humble and grateful for their fans and loved writing and providing entertainment and a place for their readers to escape to when they would read their books. I was very inspired and felt a sense of awe after meeting those authors.
Sincerely,
Jina

Hi Lola,
Talk about difficult quetion? I know there are books about these first 3 choices bot sure if they wrote the book or not however I would love to talk to Teddy Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan, John Wayne, Robin Williams and Willa Cather.
I would discuss conservation, Natl Parks and his ideas of how to get passed these conflicts about cops and shootings and the whole "black lives matter" movement whenreally it's "all lives matter!". Abraham Lincoln I would talk with him about civil rights and how much of an impact he still has. Aalso I would ask him about his childhood and memories. Ronald Reagan I would ask about his writing. Id ask how and what gives him inspiration for his speeches and I would ask advice about being happy in a marriage. They were an inspiring couldd. You could easily see the love in their eyes for each other. Willa cather I would ask advice about overcoming obstacles with health issues. And Robin Williams I would tell him how much he touched people, how much we love him and I would ask about his depression and tell him, he was never and will never be alone since so many people hold him in their hearts.
Love,
Jina

Lesley | 669 comments Hi has anyone else received Emily's Newsletter? I think she needs our support & prayers for her family as her son's first child, her second grandchild, will be born with cystic fibrosis. She asks if we will please keep little John Dawson, his father John and his mother Kim in our prayers.

I will never understand why life has to be so hard for some people & I am praying for this family.

In addition to that she asks that, once we have read it, will we please consider leaving a review at Amazon & other retailers of CHRISTMAS IN ETERNITY SPRINGS which comes out October 4th as they are vital to the success of her book and she simply hasn't had time to do her pre-work this time out.

Lola | 1001 comments Dear Jina,

I would love to have met Maya Angelou just to listen to her speak. She has one of those voices that could make you understand . I would also love to meet Nora Roberts, Carolyn Brown, Robyn Carr, Stephen King and of course Emily. As for someone from history it would be Barbara Jordan , not many people remember her but she was a great part of my youth, she was the first African American Woman elected to the Texas Senate and the first African American Woman to be buried in the Texas State Cemetery. I remember stay up nights just to listen to her give her speeches on the radio, she had a voice like Maya ,that just made you feel good.

And yes all lives Matter BUT we as white people do not have to worry ,so much, that we will be shot by the Police just because our skin is white. When you see a Black man with his hand clearly in the air ,walking away from the police and he is shot dead there is something really wrong in this Country. I am glad they arrested the police woman . Now if the Justice system works right and doesn't just give her a slap on the wrist maybe things will change. I do not mean ,make a scape goat of her but a real fair trial, we will see if it make a difference. Hugs Lola

Hello from the hot, hot valleys of Northern California! It's 103 here today. And, of course, after what was a near-perfect vacation two weeks ago, I came down with a viral pneumonia that literally knocked me on my hindparts for a week. I slept so much, I only woke up for fluids & drugs, but as of today, it's on the run and I'm back in action!

I have been blessed to have met some of my very favorite contemporary authors. However, there are a few I'm still very anxious to see face-to-face, if the opportunity presents itself...although one of them is a serious recluse, so sightings are extremely rare.

My five are:

Sylvain Reynard, author of the Gabriel Trilogy and the Florentine Series. Sylvain is an amazing, generous man who cares deeply about his readers, and the world in general. He weaves spirituality into all of his stories, and he writes some of the most stirring and lyrical prose I've ever read. He truly inspires me, not only as an author, but as a person.

E. L. James, author of the infamous Fifty Shades of Grey. Yes, I know ... it's a controversial series, but I loved its premise of brokenness and redemption. And Erika Leonard James is simply a fun person to be around, I've been told. She is also very fond of and respectful of her readers, and a powerhouse of an entrepreneur.

Our own Emily March -- I have every intention of finding her at a signing sometime. All of you know how much her series' have inspired me -- all of us. I'd like the opportunity to thank her in person.

Two in one: Helena Hunting and Debra Anastasia. Separately, they are brilliant - together they are a serious hoot. I just love them - they have an outrageous sense of humor and just seeing them online brings sunshine and laughter to my day. They also don't take themselves too seriously, which I appreciate.

My friend and fellow indie author, Bonita Franks, who writes under the name Erin O'Quinn. She is funny, kind, generous, and very talented. Two of her characters are among my top favorites, and when she finished their series, I mourned their passing as dear friends, even though I know I can pick up their story again anytime.

As for the current political and social turmoil, I'm so saddened to see the rampant hate and mistrust, the disrespect and disregard for humanity, and the trash-talk that has come to define this election cycle. I can't bear to watch the debates, or even the news, because I am so anxious about the outcome. Not since the 1960's have I seen this country so divided. Prayer is the only answer.

Now for a book recommendation: If you love political intrigue and religious mysteries, check out The Brothers' Keepers by Matthew Peters. I was invited to review it, and I loved it more than anything I've read by Dan Brown. His research is impeccable, and his style is fresh, not forced. It just flows. The suspense will have you on the edge of your seat, but it's an easy read. You can check out my review here on Goodreads.

That's all from my laptop today...I hope you all have a restful evening and I'll drop in tomorrow again to work on catching up. I'm still not receiving notice of new posts and I can't figure out what's gone wrong with the site that would account for it.

Take care & be well, friends.

P.

P.S. - Christmas in Eternity Springs is coming out on October 4th! I was thinking we'd read it in November, if that's OK with you, so we are closer to the holidays. Stay tuned for more info from Emily as the release gets closer! <3

I didn't get Emily's newsletter, but I will absolutely be praying for her grandchild and her entire family. As a pediatric nurse, I cared for many CF patients. It's a devastating disease. Perhaps we should consider, in lieu of holiday gifts, a small donation to the CF foundation? What would you think of that?

Lola | 1001 comments I just Love Silent Unity, I ask for John to be prayer for and this is the email they sent me back. I forwarded it to Emily ,I want her to know we all have her back! Love You All , Lola
Dear Lola,

Praying with you is a sacred privilege, and we are always here to pray when you need our love and support. For any need, you can be sure of God's help every moment of the day or night.

Good health is important, and when we are asked to pray for the healing of a child, we focus on the healing life of God within. This vital power renews every atom and cell and restores wholeness. Affirming vitality and well-being, we are praying with you for John Dawson.

No matter what your concern for another may be, you can always rely on God for the right help at the right time. As we pray with you for Emily and her family, we know that the presence of God within is the source of serenity and strength.

God is a constant source of help. Aware of this truth, we will continue our united prayer vigil during the next thirty days.

                  With faith,

                     Silent Unity

Unfortunately, nearly all the authors I read live in a different country to me so I can only dream. They would be of course, Emily March together with Stephanie Laurens, Nora Robert, Danielle Steel, Barbara Bradford Taylor. I could think of several more who I would enjoy meeting & they would include, Debbie Macomber, Melissa Foster, Katy Regnery, Maya Banks & Karen Frances who is the only one who I'm ever likely to meet as she lives in Scotland. I will keep deaming & hope I win the Lottery sometime to make it possible. Love to all.

Hi, Lola! I just read this and I hope your visit went well. There have been SO MANY advancements in eye surgery over the last several years that have improved safety and patient outcomes. When I was in nursing school, back when God was a boy, patients who had cataract surgery had to lay flat on their back for days. The surgery wasn't a sure-thing. Now, it's so simple, Ray routinely assists on 20 procedures in a single day in their OR up in Willits, where he works. Several people I know have had the procedure and the recovery time is minimal - the outcomes literally change lives in a single day! Please keep us posted.

Hi Lesley - I've seen more and more American authors going to UK signings in the last year or so, so don't lose hope. My problem with signings is that there are so many, and they book up sometimes over a year in advance. There are already signings posted for 2018. It's so hard to keep up - but if an author has a good audience in another country, they will often make an effort to go. I keep up with the websites for my favorites on the off-chance I can catch one in San Francisco...it's worked for me once, anyway. *sigh*

Hello Lol,
Sorry I have been MIA. I will certainly pray for you and your visit to the eye doctor tomorrow. Both of my parents have had surgery for cataracts. My Dad had his done one at a time and before the second procedure he said he had told the doctor he had to do the other eye because it felt like he only washed one window and the other one was still really dirty. lol They both have said it was a great thing. My mom has glaucoma so her's is a bit more complicated, but none the less, reading and watching TV is about all she can do for entertainment now and I thank God she had the vision she needs to still keep herself busy. Because of the Parkinson's medication she sleeps a lot, but she has always been an avid reader and she just picks up where she was before her nap and carries on. lol She has a room that is lined with bookshelves and they are all full. I'm sure she has read them all too. I pray you have as good an experience as they had and you find comfort and peace in knowing the Lord is there with you.
Love and hugs..

Linda (lindamanthey) | 413 comments I have decided to take time each morning to pray for Emily and her family, John, Kim, and baby John.
I wake up each moring around 6am and I want to set aside time to lift them up and pray for God's mercy and grace to heal not only the physical issues, but the emotional and psychological challenges this news must surely bring to anyone who has been given the news of a child to be born with a serious illness.
I believe God can, and will, give them the wisdom and comfort they need and guide them along this path they are going down and bless their journey with His presence and embrace them in His loving arms as they continue on this journey in their lives.
I invite anyone who feels the urge to join me in this time of intercession for this family. Peace be with you all.

Hannah (hannahdabink) | 55 comments Lola,
I wish you luck with your appointment today. I went though that with my grandma in law and she did just fine. bounced right back, my son developed a cataract when he was three months old. It was just one effect of something that I had no control over. The eye fluid in his eye when he is in the womb didn't change like it suppose to after he was born. instead it turned into scar tissue causing a cataract and a detracted retina. all of these compounded led to him losing vision in his right eye and as off the end of last month he had the eye removed. It was his seventh and hopefully his last surgery on that eye. Everything is going great he bounced back after the surgery like a champ he even said it wasn't as bad as he thought out was going to be. He's 12 years old. The entire time I kept telling myself it could be worse. My mother in law told me once that she was surprised by how strong and calm I was. I was because I kept telling myself it could be worse with everything that happenned it could be worse.
Remember when they replace the lens you'll see better than before.

Lola | 1001 comments Thank You Everyone for your great prayers , they worked ! The Dr. wants to wait another year , he said the left one was bigger than the one in the right eye , but as long as they are not interfering with my sight he would wait. My sight is just a little fuzzy but not bad. I had lasik eye surgery in 2002 , and he said my eye sight is still 20/20,pretty good for a almost 68 year old broad. lol
Hannah, your son is a Champ! I have had bad sight all my life until I had the lasik. I remember getting my first pair of glasses, I was about 4 or 5 , we walked outside, I looked up and said so that is where leaves come from, I had never been able to see the trees.

Linda ,I join you in prayers for Emily's Family ! And for all of this Family ! Love You All, Lola

Hello, my dears.

I came on here tonight for the first time in a long time to beg your forgiveness for being MIA and explain.

I see that the news I shared in my Emily's Angels letter already has reached you. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your good thoughts and especially, for your prayers. It's been a very long month of testing and waiting, with a result that knocked us to our knees. That said, with every day that passes, we're clawing our way back.

I had great plans for this group and CHRISTMAS IN ETERNITY SPRINGS. I'm afraid life got in the way. I will make it up to you when life settles down, I promise.

I do want to share the book's dedication with you now:

To the member of the Emily March Fans group (I want to call it a sisterhood) on Goodreads, led by the most fabulous Paula Radell. You women warm my heart. Merry Christmas!

I couldn't have said it any better, Lola. We are truly blessed to be a part of this "Sisterhood". We are a caring, loving, and thoughtful group of supportive women who have evolved into more than a book club. We have become tied together as a compassionate commmunity as we have shared in each others's joys and sorrows.
I am thankful and honored to call each and everyone of you friend and to be a part of the "Sisterhood" of Eternity Springs. I love it.

Thank you Emily, for giving us this gift.
And don"t worry about CHRISTMAS IN ETERNITY SPRINGS.
We have your back and we will do our best to spread the word on all of the review sights so it will be out there for the rest of your readers (and potential readers) to see.
If there is anything else we can do to ease the burden for you all you have to do is say the word and we will be on it in a flash.

Dear Emily,
I know first hand about the fear of a bad test result during pregnancy. I was told that Sams heartbeat was weak and may not be strong enough for the birth. They had me on steroids for 4-6 weeks, I dont remember the exact length of time. Anyway, the steroids helped strengthen her heart and she was born without incident.
I dont know much about cystic fibrosis but I will research it and try to find tips, advice and maybe support groups y'all can use to help you all have encouragement, support, and kindness while you and your family face this heartbreaking news. I will pray that the test was wrong and little John will be just fine. The power of prayer is amazing and He will be beside you throughout this journey. Can I have your email address? I was given a 6 page pamphlet of organizations and foundations that help children with special needs. The is one that will give the child weighted blankets, bibs, cooling vests, etc. Another one helps with transforming the house for a disabled child, there is 4 or 5 that help with wheelchairs and highchairs and beds and monitors, air purifiers ... you name it its on this pamphlet and I would like to scan it and send you a copy if you dont mind.
And as always, we love you, are thinking about you and your family and if you need anything or just to chat you can call, text write or yell out to me 24/7. I will be there for you. Dont hesitate to call on me. I also was thinking about financially, if they are insured or not and medical bills and costs of supplies will be hefty. Is there something that we can do to help ease that burden as well. I will talk to my husband about doing a motorcycle benefit ride for Little John. I will get back to you with what he says.
Love you,
Your sister of the heart,
Jina and my girls

Lola | 1001 comments Hi All,
I just had to tell you all about this. I have been thinking about a new washer for a few years, but I don't like to get something new when the old one is still working. Wolf says I prayer for this but I would not use my prayers that way . The washer started leaking ,thankfully it is inside the tub, it start as a little drip now it has turned into a stream. My Daughter got a front load washer and loves it ,so I bit the bullet and ordered one Tuesday. Yesterday (Wens.) Wolf wanted to know the dimensions. I went online and nearly choked , the price went from the $999 I paid to $749 in one day. Since I will not get the washer until Nov. I call Lowes and they gave me the sale price, thank goodness Wolf wanted the measurements. I would have never known.

I preordered Christmas in Eternity Springs from Audible yeah it is an audio book! Do you think it would be rude, with everything going on ,to ask Emily if I also buy a paper book and send it to her if she would sign it? I would love to have one with the Dedication signed by her. But I would never want to be a bother for her. I don't know ,let me know what you think.
Love , Lola

You were lucky with the washer Lola.
As long as you are not in a hurry for the signed book from Emily, I'm sure she will sign one for you as soon as she has a chance.
