I love the ideas of repurposing the shirt! You ladies are so thoughtful. ❤️
Thanks y'all. I love that idea and we do quilts and cross stitching etc... Sadly they cut through the design on the front but I could cut the shirt into small hearts I could sew on a lap quilt and a tote for her wheelchair that could hold some things if she goes to school at school this year. Thank you for being such great friends. I know I can tell you Im lagging and you dont judge me yet lift me up. I would've never thought about another use for that shirt. When I seen it, it felt like I was struck by lightning and back 3 years before. The shirt still smells like the fragrance she used to wear, it was a perfume her Grandma, my Mom, gave her. Smell is a powerful memory trigger. I remembered Heather riding her bike, and playing catch with her sisters the day before. I forget who said it but you are right, we tend to have a "before" life and then and "after it happened" life. But... I have made a decision, I am ready to write Heathers story. I think it's time and THEN I THINK I may be able to make my peace with all thats gone on. I talked to my sister about it and she said that maybe getting it all out and on paper will be like a purging or like cleansing. I just know I am going to start writing it and see what happens. When I am done maybe it will help some other parents. I already said I would write a synopsis of Heathers storyto be included in the case study they were doing on her.
Thanks for always being such supportive and encouraging group.
Hugs to you,
Jina

Hi ladies - I caught Ray's cold and just got out of bed after I had to crash for awhile. I'm starting Luke TONIGHT -- so I'll be back tomorrow with a few questions/comments ...
Take your time, we have the entire month to read & finish it. This is the first time you all have been ahead of me though....!

Colds & coughs are also on this side of the 'pond' I have a real chesty cough which is keeping me awake at nights. It's a real pain. Today is my first day as a Library Volunteer, wish me luck.
Good Luck Lesley ! What part are you from in the UK, ?I know you have probably said many times but I can't remember. I hope your cough is gone soon, I am going thru a bout too but mine is from using my elliptical machine and breathing harder than usual.Take care, Hugs Lola
Good luck, Lesley! Being a library volunteer sounds really interesting and rewarding - but of course, I'd be tempted to hole up in a corner and read!
Hope your cough improves very soon. It's so hard to sleep with that tickle in your chest. Let us know how you like your new volunteer job!

First Library session seemed to go okay, got on ok with the other volunteers that were there. Not sure I'm going to get on as well with the Volunteers' Co-ordinator, will have to wait & see.

I didn't get to visit Lincolnshire when I was in the UK last year, but I loved the east coast - it was a wonderful experience to see the sun SET over the Atlantic. I'm sure my companions thought I had a screw loose - but it was so much fun to experience it from the other side of the pond.
Good luck with the coordinator - I hope it's not a case of "power corrupts" - and just a matter of getting to know each other and finding common ground around reading.

I wish you well with whatever you're passionate about. And don't waste time on anything that doesn't fill an important need for you or for others you care about. Life is just too short, my friend.
I could really use a trip to Eternity Springs about now...my little heart could use a little healing, too! But I will be escaping to Brazos Bend later today and that always helps.

Hi Lesley,
Oh what a beautiful place to live , I checked it out on Google maps. I love all the old buildings and the name on the map ,Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty ! And they are not kidding! Hugs Lola

The Cathedral City of Lincoln & surrounding areas had a lot of visitors last year due to the 70th WW2 remembrance celebrations. Lincoln Cathedral is also often used in historical based films , but at the moment I cannot remember the title of any of them.

I shouldn't complain really as we are so lucky not to be flooded like so many other people in any parts of England & Scotland. There is talk of it getting dryer & colder next week with the possibility of some snow which unfortunately will make things worse in the flooded areas. Although I finished Luke's story last night & have plenty of books to read I don't seem to be in the mood for reading very much. Sorry for the moan.

We all need a place to vent/ moan once in a while. The one good thing is that every day we are closer to Spring and the sun being out more. You are ahead of me, I have looked at Luke but will not get to read until Saturday here in Mississippi. I am busy getting classes set up for the beginning of the semester Jan. 11. I teach two classes so each has to be setup. The powers that be change something so I have to adapt the class and me. I am grateful for the job.
Hi Lesley,We all get to moan around here. ;>) We are in the middle of a blizzard here, I think Wolf will get to use his ATV snow plow for the first time. Poor California it is either feast or famine there ,after all the fires last summer they are having mud slides with all these rain storms now.
The thing that gets me out of my funk is starting my plants for the garden . I got a new Aero-garden yesterday (one of those inside hydro-gardens) and this one came with cherry tomatoes and herbs . I can't wait to see if they taste anything like a tomato. I will start my seeds for the garden in the next few weeks. Watching those seeds pop up makes spring seem closer. Hugs Lola
Hi Lola & Melinda, Thank you for your comments, today is a better day, we had a frost over night instead of rain & although it's a little colder the sun is shining. It has given me enough of a boost to clean through the house & the activity has made me feel better. Hope all goes well with the new classes Melinda & your Aero-garden prospers Lola.
Hi Lesley, Glad to hear you are better! I don't know if any of you shop online at chefs , but they are having a going out of business sale ,with some great prices , I got a HUGE 12 qt. stainless steel bowl for $7.00 and a 40 piece flatware for $25.00 ,I paid $ 65.00 for a 20 piece set a few years ago. I don't know how much longer the sale will last ,so go check it out. The web site is chefscatalog.com. Hugs Lola
well hope everyone is having a good weekend. Mine started out bad. phone screen is dead. new one won't be here til Thursday or so. Ugh!!! Hoping to start on the book this weekend.
Nothing much happening here this weekend ,too cold and snowy. Thank goodness we still have football, at least for awhile. I need to get back to reading Luke. Hugs Lola
Hello Ladies!I have had a busy week. I had CNA1 classes everyday from 3-5pm. Samantha and Heather went with me and so now both Sam and I can take the certification exam. I really liked the instructor "Tina". Thats short for her much longer name so she told us to call her Tina. She does these classes because there is such a high need here for healthcare workers. She is also a pastor and she took in foster kids with special needs and one she actually adopted. He is a 27 yr old sweet boy with downs syndrome named Josh. He was our "patient" to practice blood pressure, getting from bed to wheelchair and many other skills. He is very smart and if you forgot something he would whisper "you forgot to pull privacy curtain". Our instructor would hear him whisper and she'd say "Son, quiet, they need to learn this without you coaching them so hush it." He'd grin and say "sorry Mama" and he'd wink at the student. Lol. He is such a character. He loves turtles so as a thank you for helping with class this week, my girls made him a paracord bracelet in greens and blue and also a bracelet with wooden turtles. He was thrilled and gave us big hugs. Heather was in the Emergency room again this week. Tuesday night she coughed all night and had a bad rattling wheeze so I was scared she might be getting pneumonia. Turns out it wasn't pneumonia but probably her reaction to all this wet weather. On a great note in regards to Heather, you all remember she takes nothing by mouth and has a gtube. She hasnt "eaten" anything for 3 years. Well, we have been practicing with her, giving her small sips of drink out of a childs sippy cup and small tastes of things with a baby spoon. For instance, applesauce, ice cream, frozen gogurt. We stopped at KFC, Kentucky fried chicken, and got cole slaw since I was craving it and also a container of mac and cheese. When we got home I cut two of the elbow macaronis in half and gave her a half that had the cheese sauce and told her to chew. We had a mirror up in front of her so she could see herself chewing. She chewed and swallowed all 4 mini bites of mac and cheese without choking or any coming back out the front of her mouth. She was so happy and proud of herself. Mac and cheese has always been one of her favorite foods.
I ordered Luke and Matt and Mark over 3 weeks ago from Amazon and they still arent here yet. I hope they come soon. In the meantime I will finish Reunion Pass. It's absolutely wonderful so far. I am only in the 5th chapter because so much has been going on here. My sister's new baby Lane is still sick. Something is wrong with his digestive system. And my Uncle Marvin while on vacation in Mexico over the holidays suffered a stroke and since has had two others. They are small strokes but they are still bad. They were able to get him well enough for him to travel home to Nebraska. I have a couple projects going on and trying to also winter clean my house.
I hope you all are doing well and are having a wonderful 2016.
Hugs to all,
Jina
Wow, Jina - I'm speechless at your news. And most people know I'm rarely without words. My 2016 has started out really busy but blessed. I'm loving Luke -- although the suspense is killing me and I can't read as often as I'd hoped because of "real life".
Take care and keep us posted - I hope your books arrive soon!

There is always a chance that the classes will not have enough students but it just barely made it. March 7 is the start date for the 2nd 8 week so will just pray and see what happens. Reading Luke will be hit and miss until next week since class starts Monday and I have to finish getting the information together to match the general syllabus which tells the students what will happen and what is due when.
I really enjoy all of you ladies. Have fun reading when you can

Hello ladies.I finally have internet again. We have had a very busy couple of weeks. Things are coming together and slowly we are getting settled in to the new house. I still have a lot of organizing to do but that will come with time. Our car decided it didn't want to start this past week and I missed two days work. We decided to take the bus down and pay off the loan on the car and buy a new one. Little did I know we would come home with a brand new car. It just worked out that we found a really nice car we both liked and could afford the payments. We are going to have the other car fixed, when we can, and then we will both have vehicles of our own. I have already claimed the new car, lol. It is a 2016 KIA Forte. I just love it. We will be on a tight budget, but I am so glad to have reliable transportation. We now commute to work and it is about 20 miles one way. I am thankful to not have the worry of mechanical failure on the highway especially when I have to drive at night.
I hope you all have had a great beginning to 2016. I have not found my Callahan brothers books yet, I downloaded Luke onto my Kindle in the mean time. I know they are in this mess somewhere, I just have to keep looking, lol. I am really enjoying reading Luke again. I am off the next two days and I will probably finish reading Luke, so I had better get busy and find the other books. Have a wonderful weekend everyone. Peace be with you all.

Hey all, If anyone is interested it looks like the National Readers Choice Awards is looking for more judges. you get 4 books in a category and have like 1.5 months to read them and send back your ratings. I have done it the past few years.
I have pasted the main content from my email.
This is the OKRWA' National Readers' Choice Awards 25th year. And we have a record number of entries.
I'm contacting you because you signed up to judge last year and if you haven't re-signed we could use your help.
I would love if you send this note to other readers as well.
The direct sign up link is, of course, at formstack. https://www.formstack.com/forms/NRCA-...
For the friends you might think would be interested, more information can be found here:
http://okrwa.com/contests/nrca/428-2/
Again, thank you for judging last year (and this year, if you've already signed up).a
My sincerest thanks.

Hi Brandi,
I filled out the form . Do they send you books in the order you rating them? Because I do not read over sexual books.
Hugs Lola
I signed up to judge. Sounds like fun and I'm masochistic that way...one more stack of books for my list! I've got to cut back on reviews!!!
Watching football today with Ray...I feel extremely tired and lazy right now. And nervous for my team. :-0
Hope you are all having a great weekend! I'll be back reading Luke tomorrow. I've got a book to finish tonight for a release review tomorrow. It's funny and angsty.
Take care!

They pick you for one or more categories depending on if you are willing to do more than one. Then in that category you get 4 books to read and rate. They don't send you a bunch over a bunch of categories. They want you to rate those that are in the one category. I have gotten some good books and some not so good. I think last year the ones I got were all kind of so so, but in prior years it has been good.

Hi Linda ,
Great to hear you are online and settling in . Hugs Lola
Hey ladies. Sounds like you all had a busy day. I spent the day running around. Took one boy to work, took another one to my oldest son's house. I went by to visit a friend, picked up one of the boys, then went to Applebee's for a late lunch. Did some shopping on the way home, and now I am settling in to finish reading Luke. I'm worn out and I didn't do a dog gone thing. lol. Tomorrow Dave will take the car to work, so I needed to do all my running around today. I am still searching for things I know I have, so I really need to get organized. That's a job for tomorrow. Hope you all have a great night, I will see if I can figure out how to post some photos tomorrow. My boys can probably show me how, lol. Love and hugs Linda Manthey
It was a wild day of football indeed. I nearly fainted at the end of the Seahawks game. It's been a very lazy one for me. I got an email acknowledging my application to be a judge. It sounds like it would be really interesting to participate. Kind of like a grab bag of books!
I'm excited I get to go back to Luke tomorrow. Goodnight everyone!

I have participated in the National Readers Choice Awards program as a judge for the past several years and it has been a fun way to read new-to-me authors. The books are all in the same category and you judge them against each other. This year I signed up for two categories so we'll see how that goes.
When do you find out if you're selected?
