Thing Two (thingtwo) Welcome to "Locally Grown Words." Please introduce yourself and share a few words about your own introduction to Central Florida Literature.

Thing Two (thingtwo) My aim here is to have a place to list local award-winning books, and then work my way through reading them. I'm limiting the scope - rather arbitrarily - to the counties between SR 40 and SR 60 in an attempt to focus specifically on CENTRAL Florida (and it has absolutely nothing to do with my aversion to reading more Randy Wayne White books. Honest!) Any book set in CF, and any author who lives or has lived in CF, qualifies. If you have suggestions, please send them!

Although I'm using Bookmark It's logo, and both Moriah and I work there, this is not (yet) an official Bookmark It group. All missteps, mistakes, misreports are mine (and since I made Moriah an administrator, her's too!)

So, I hope you'll join me (us). Invite your local friends, and let's start promoting these award-winning books. I mean, who knew there were so many?!?!

Thing Two aka Karen

D.J. Edmonston | 1 comments I'm new to the group and thank you for having me. I am an Illustrator/artist and now an author. I have written and released the first 2 novels in The Veil series, Book 1 The Veil and book 2 Crisis. They are Christian fiction/ thrillers/ action adventures. The books start out taking place right here in Central Florida (Winter Park and Orlando to be exact). I look forward to meeting some of you and learning more about the writers and the central Florida scene. I currently live in Apopka. You can check out my website at WWW.EnterTheVeil.com
Thanks.

Richard Cronin (goodreadscomrickcronin) Hello, my name is Rick Cronin. I lived in Central Florida 45 years before retiring to Sarasota, although my wife and I return to the Orlando area often. I've always enjoyed American history, writing, and central Florida mystery - so after retiring, took an interest in researching the story of a land I call CitrusLAND. During the 19th Century, central Florida was promoted as America's Paradise - a land of "health, wealth and fruits". I've since written books on the people who settled this remote wilderness, and I invite you to check out my Author Profile here at Goodreads, or stop by one of Bookmark it Orlando stores CitrusLAND Curse of Florida's Paradise by Richard Lee Cronin .

Mary Ellen Woods (maryellen_woods) | 3 comments Greetings and Salutations fellow Central Floridians, I am an aspiring author who lives along the Saint John's River. I have lived in Central Florida since I was 14. I graduated from and taught at Seminole County High Schools. I am a UCF alumni. I am currently working on three novels.
One is a Civil War and Old West trilogy titled Devil Her Due in which the main female character is a surgeon for the Confederacy (yes there were a few female physicians in that era.) The two main male characters are in Stuart's cavalry.
The second is a modern contemporary romance, titled Embers in the Heart, in which the characters are the descendants of those in the Civil War era novel. This story revolves around the PTSD of the main male character, a former Marine Corps officer, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. This and the previous novel are part of what I hope will eventually be a US History series.
The other novel is part of an intended series, The Silver Chronicles, that is a collection of romances that feature heroes and heroines that are over 50 years old. The first novel due out this November is titled, We Will Ne'er Be Younger. It is a second chance romance between a recently divorced Marine Colonel and a retired school teacher from Florida.

Glad to be part of a local group of central Florida authors and residents.

My website is maryellenwoods.com

I have samples of two of the books in the creative writing section at
