If there is one thing I will say about me is that I get round to promoting myself eventually. Okay, so not the best way to sell a book, but it's a start.

So, this is my Author thread in the wonderful UK Kindle forum.

I have been playing with words since I was little, but I have only recently pulled my socks up and decided to try and make some sort of living from writing fiction.

I have two writing projects going:

The Stink is a YA book that I have just released on Amazon.

Dirt is a vast fantasy epic that is close to coming out.

It's me again!

The Stink

This is my first full length book and is about a bunch of sixteen-year-olds back in the seventies who decide to put together a band.

It is aimed at Young Adults of all ages - so basically, anyone who was a teen in the seventies and wants to go back there and anyone who is a teen now and wants to find out what all the fuss is about.

Although it is definitely a comedy, it also covers issues at the time like racism and homophobia so it has some pretty painful moments too.

This was my era and back in the mid-seventies I was a teen playing in a band and trying to get my voice heard - this is from the heart.

And Again!

Dirt

I have been working on Dirt for a while now and am just getting close to the point of doing the website and releasing the first three books.

Dirt is a fantasy set on a world called Dirt. Strange name for a world, you might say. And "The Earth" isn't?

The first books tell the story of a young man called Johnson Farthing as he rescues his sister who has been kidnapped by slavers. He travels across the world to rescue her with the help of a dragon called Fren-Eirol and a Magician who likes to be called Weasel.

Dirt is not your normal Fantasy world. Dragons might be huge, but they don't puff smoke and are intelligent and have a proper society.

Magicians are not Gandalf and cannot solve a problem with a wave of a staff or wand. On Dirt, magicians are rare and often little more than healers or able to help people find things.

The ten books (plus) will cover a chain of events that take a thousand years and I am having a huge amount of fun unveiling bit by bit complex characters, a detailed and sometimes beautiful world, all from the point of view of the good guys.

But ultimately, it is a story about the search for family, friends and a home.

What the Fairy did next

I have put up a free short story on my website.

It tells the story of a fairy who grows up in 1920s London and reveals the "Truth" behind the Cottingley Fairies, the famous photographs that fooled Conan Doyle.

It is told as a selection of diary entries and is very, very silly.

Do not be fooled, this ain't no bedtime story for tots!
