Read this book several years ago but I'll be danged if I can remember the title or the author. A few more details...with out giving too much away...the Earth ship is commanded by alternating commanders...Russian and US...and is about to be decommissioned when the alien ship arrives.
I read it in Dead tree format....but since then lost all my dead tree books in a fire. Not sure if it was published in E-format.
