Watcha Doing? Version 2015.5
I'm going to bed. It's been a long day: cleaning lady was here, went to Walmart for groceries, and to the eye doctor. Would you believe that my nearsightedness has gotten better!?! I was wearing my readers over my contacts just to see. Benna told me that those of us who are nearsighted and need reading glasses, the readers actually makes your vision better if your prescription has improved. Who knew?
Lynda wrote: "We just found out that my niece's husband, Bernie, suffered a stroke. He's been rushed by paramedics to a hospital in Seattle, he's only 45. We have amazing health care and emergency services here ..."That is very scary Lynda. I hope he recovers soon!
Sorry to hear that Lynda. That must have been a shock for all of you. You'll do great Peggy. Keep focusing on how you want it to be rather than how you don't want to be - I find that makes a big difference to how I feel about something coming up.
A bit of dirt doesn't kill you. But a grubby book is grubby forever ;-) I get much dirtier now living on a boat what with muddy towpaths and coaldust. I've been out to the pub or to the cafe for breakfast, popped to the loo while I'm waiting for my food to arrive and noticed I either have mud all over my trousers or coaldust smeared across my face. What the servers must think I've no idea. Not to self - always look in the mirror BEFORE leaving the boat :-)
Thinking of you and your family, Lynda.Us too with checking the mirror before going outside. I had to tell Lexx as we switched drivers at my work this morning, he had a chicken present down his front... bathroom sinks, soap and hand dryers are awesome!
Just spat my lentil soup at that Rusalka. Classic. Best go check my jumper for lentils before heading to the Christmas market in Bath.
Sorry to hear that Lynda. 45 is so young for a stroke. I hope he recovers soon.Lol Travis! I think I would be the same though :D

I hope your nephew is okay, Lynda! *hugs*"Chicken present" that is hilarious!!
I can't wear contacts so no readers to possibly improve my vision. :( I just take my regular glasses off when reading.
My husband is also nearsighted, but he swears he can't see up close without his glasses on. I've tried telling him his glasses aren't for close up vision, but he has himself convinced he needs them for everything.
School school school! Whew! I finished the web design fundamentals coursework a week or so ago and finally starting on my next course! Human resources! Should be interesting!! Unfortunately I don't get to take the industry certification exams along with the course because I lack the experience in Human resources but I will still get a certificate for completing the course...once that happens ;)
This is going to be a Stone Temple Pilot, Velvet Revolver weekend for me. After probably 20 years fighting addiction Scott Weiland finally lost the fight. So much talent just coukdn't stay clean.
https://youtu.be/9JhsUFuqbCM. I've watched this video 1000 times in my life always gives you chills. I always liked velvet revolver. Or any band where slash is on guitar for that matter. But Scott Weiland always knew the needle would get him
I hadn't heard that yet. So sad. Was it drugs that killed him? I googled and read he died in his sleep but no cause is given.
One way or another it comes back to drugs. Can't do that to your body and live forever. I imagine they have to do an autopsy before releasing official results though
He was very talented indeed. I have a number of stone Temple pilots tracks but not heard any of the velvet revolver stuff. I might have to check it out.
The 4 most known velvet rwvolver tracks are gonna be slither, fall to piecee, last fight and she builds quick machines which is a great video which slash plays his solo with a burning man in background. So rock and roll.
Sad, I hadn't heard the news about Scott Weiland, he had such a distinctive voice. I always enjoyed STP.My niece's husband was moved out of the ICU into the CCU today; his stroke was massive, but his stent surgery went well. They are keeping him under sedation to allow him time to heal, and are keeping him monitored. With time, and a lot of rehab, the doctors are hopeful he'll make a full recovery.
Glad to hear his surgery went well, Lynda! Sending continued positive vibes that he keeps getting better :)
It seems that the younger the person the more massive the strokes. I hope the doctors are right and he recovers completely. He and his family are in my prayers.
@Lynda, Good news! Hope he continues to improve.Y'all aren't going to believe this. I dropped my cell phone into the toilet. (Don't ask.) Lost all my contacts. Had to get a new phone. Now have to get my contact stuff back. Pictures gone, grrrrrrrr.

I have a friend who perpetually drops her phone in the toilet. She doesn't carry a purse so keeps it in her pocket and voila! Toilet time. She's done it like six times in the last five years.
Ooh Anne .. Such an accident! Good luck in gathering back your contacts. We had such a big wind storm last night, the tree we had in the middle of our house fell -The middle of the house is opened to the sky, so the garden is inside the house-
Time to take out my jacket from the old bags.
If you were able to fish your cell phone out, it may be possible to get info off of the sim card once it dries out. Give it a few days. It's a common enough problem that if you google "phone fell in water" you may find suggestions on how to attempt to salvage the phone.

Kandice, exactly what happened! Was almost flushed too.Auto flush, when you stand up.) Was at Walmart, so I got home, tried to dry it out by using rice in a bag, but after 7 hrs., still dead as a door-nail. So, a return to Walmart for a larger phone with a SIM card this time.
@Casceil, No SIM card, had one of those Smart talk phones that held everything in phone storage.
I dropped my phone in the canal when I was shutting up our boat. I managed to fish it out, dry it off with the rice trick. It did continue to work but the screen kept activating thinking I was touching it when I wasn't so the battery kept draining quickly and I made a few accidental phone calls. So I got a new phone. I now have a bright orange, waterproof phone so that I can a) find the phone easily if I do drop it in the canal and b) not have to buy a new one due to water damage.
Thanks for the track names Travis - I'll check them out. We've not been listening to much music this year as all of our CDs are in storage at my parents and we don't have a stereo either. So we're in the process of looking at car stereos which we can mount in a funky box with some good speakers (also mounted in funky boxes) to use on the boat. I want a CD player but I also want it to play mp3, have a USB socket and bluetooth so I can operate it using my phone. It's going to be our Christmas present to ourselves and I'm really looking forward to it. I miss listening to music.
We had one snow fall about a month ago. I have to drive to Edmonton (5 hour drive) tomorrow, and it's been snowing all day. NOT FUNNY!
Drive safe Janice. We had a cold night last night and for some reason our fire didn't stay in the whole night (typical) so I didn't get much sleep as my face was cold. My partner relit it before going to work so at least I woke up to a toasty boat. What a star!

Thanks. I think it rained as well last night. Snow, rain, freezing temps = recipe for disaster. I'm going to leave around 11:00 so that the road crews have had a change to salt/sand and it should still be light by the time I get to Edmonton. I hate driving in the dark especially when I'm trying to find a specific location in a different city.
Thousands of commuters in New York City were delayed because a man dropped his cell phone in a toilet - true story - really, I was there! Friday, October 31, 2003 Posted: 3:20 PM EST (2020 GMT)
The toilets are made of aluminum so I imagine he was down on hands and knees with his shirt rolled up and hand and arm down inside, trying to flush out his cell phone.
-- Jim Cameron, Connecticut Metro-North commuter council
NEW YORK (Reuters) -- Cell phone users have been known to complain about poor service, but one New York man's mobile literally went down the toilet.
The man was on a suburban train from Grand Central Station on Wednesday night when he went to the bathroom to make a phone call, dropped the phone into the toilet bowl and then his hand and arm became stuck trying to retrieve it, officials said.
Metro-North Railroad staff could not help the man, so they stopped the train and called police officers and firefighters to extricate him, a process that took 90 minutes using "jaws of life" rescue equipment.
"The toilets are made of aluminum so I imagine he was down on hands and knees with his shirt rolled up and hand and arm down inside, trying to flush out his cell phone," said Jim Cameron of the Connecticut Metro-North commuter council.
He said that because of the design of the train toilet, the mobile probably ended up in a chemical holding tank.
A spokesman for the railroad that serves the northern suburbs of New York and Connecticut identified the man as Edwin Gallard, 41, of New York, who suffered a minor injury to his arm as firefighters cut the toilet apart.
The track was closed and thousands of commuters were delayed during the evening rush hour.
The phone has not yet been recovered.

So, next time you get on a train and use the bathroom, there will be a giant warning sign posted not to stick your arm down into the toilet, especially to retrieve your cell phone.
It is supposed to be 71 degrees F, (22 degrees C), here on Saturday!! I hope my hope my hubby and dog will want to spend the day outside with me :)
Stephanie wrote: "It is supposed to be 71 degrees F, (22 degrees C), here on Saturday!! I hope my hope my hubby and dog will want to spend the day outside with me :)"Totally jealous. We're experiencing record rainfall, and also setting records for the darkest days. Rivers are flooding, the hillsides are landsliding. So that's been fun.
hi everyone. I am back. the unread tally in unbelievable so I am marking all as read. so i will miss everything that happened in the last months.
Long story short. I had an almost dying experience. I do not recommend it if you had this one on your bucket list.
I am almost back to normal but I was so tired that after a day's work, I was too tired to read.
I am working from Las Vegas this week, soaking out heat before winter. Anyone here around LV?
