That sounds horrific Sandra. I hope the pain lessens soon. Try again to see if someone else can organize Janice, maybe they overlooked it first time or feel more obliged if you ask again.
That sounds amazing Lynda! Would love to try that, can I read the recipe on your blog and what is your blog?
I made pumpkin-parsnip-coconut milk soup this weekend. We also went for a really nice 6.5k walk in Germany, and are now preparing an autumny stew. I hate it when days get shorter and winter is coming closer, but I have to admit that sometimes autumn is awesome too.
I tried Casceil's suggestion (and now Peggy's), and we have a volunteer! I was thrilled to email her right back with my vote. :)
Hi Peggy, yes, I posted the recipe to my blog, a link to it is in my profile. It turned out really well. Sweet and tangy. Pumpkin-parsnip-coconut milk sounds great. We make a carrot-parsnip soup regularly. I'm a big fan of veggie soups.Your walk and subsequent autumn stew sounds like a good way to spend the day.
I had a chocolate pumpkin brownie at a local coffee shop earlier this week which was amazing. I really want to try them. The weather has been amazing here this weekend accompanied with equally amazing sunsets.
We've had a very productive weekend so I'm pleased.
Sorry to hear about your toothache Sandra. Worst kind of pain for sure. Be careful with the pain meds. After I had my wisdom teeth removed it got infected and I was in so much pain. I took a lot of pain meds, day and night which was slightly more than the daily amount and it gave me stomach pain. Just thinking about tooth pain makes me shudder.
Glad to hear you have a volunteer Janice.
Glad it worked out Janice! Yay!!The wedding was at a winery, so I did make up for it. And I must say I was so grumpy at the fact that I had eight grown men who didn't seem to be able to dress themselves, I had no chance to enjoy the experience! lol
Today I felt better than yesterday, but far from good. I think tomorrow will be much better, though. The last two days I certainly had more pain killers than I should, Saran, but today I stayed in the recommended daily amount.
Janice, I'm glad someone will do the job this time!
Rusalka, I laughed at your wedding story...
Lynda, sound delicious. I'll take a look at your blog.
We are waiting for the eclipse here, but is getting more and more clouded. At this point we can't see the moon. It's a pity, our kids got permission to stay awake to see it, but I don't think it will clear.
Its almost full just a sliver left to go and you can see the red. But the full blood moon is anotger 20 minutes away
I got confused with the eclipse - it's Monday today so I assumed it would be early hours of tonight that it occurred. But no. Last night! I did look at the moon though a lot last night as it was very clear here and it was very bright. I was in bed before it even started to be eclipsed, let alone a full eclipse. Oh well!
Sounds like WW3 is kicking off near here. We're moored in Wiltshire at the moment where there is a big army base and all morning there have been explosions going off. They are still miles away from here but that doesn't stop the boat from shaking every time one goes off. Not experienced this before as I've never lived that close to barracks or training grounds before.
Proud dad moment. I turn on Shinedown "cut the cord" cuz I haven't heard it in quite a while and my 2 year old instantly starts in with "freedom la la la la freedom"

We had cloud cover here in Central Virginia so we weren't able to see the eclipse:(Looks like our friends in Nebraska had a cool view of it through from the pictures I've seen on Facebook :)
I knew it was going to happen last night but I didn't feel at all like setting my alarm in the middle of the night and being up for a couple of hours, with a whole day at work ahead of me. I like my sleep too much ;-) If it was a Friday or Saturday night it might have been different! I think it was visible from most places in the country though.
My wife is like many of you wanting a certain amount of sleep. I look at sleep as an option. I never give a thought to working 20 22 hours sleeping an hour then working another 20 hours. There have been times I've got up at 4 am and not gone to bed until midnight of the following day. But those 44 hour grinds are brutal and coffee and red bull is essential
Here in Arizona we got lucky. The eclipse was just after sunset and the sky was clear. Unfortunately, Phoenix always has a lot of dust in the air and the light pollution is pretty pervasive, so the moon didn't get all that reddish, but it was still very nice. And the sky was so clear! I've tried to watch a number of lunar eclipses in the thirty-odd years I've lived here, and there are almost always clouds on eclipse nights. Usually patchy clouds, and you can watch the moon part of the time, but last night was great.

Red Bull or no.
It was cloudy here, so no hope of seeing anything but the bit of snow coming down. Today, on the other hand, is sunny and bright. Snow all melted.
It's supposed to be 103 degrees here in Phoenix, which is very typical for our "fall." If you want to see leaves turn pretty colors, you have to drive north to the mountains. But if you can find an aspen forest up there, those are really magical.

It can help just to unload and talk about the things that you are having to deal with it. It may technically be complaining, but we all have the right to sometimes. The offer stands if you need a sympathetic ear, I'm glad to offer mine. :)
@Sandra, hope your tooth is feeling better!
A friend of ours has her birthday this weekend and I want to give her a book. I know she likes fantasy so I'm thinking either the first kingkiller chronicles book or the first riyria book. She prefers to read in Dutch though, so I just looked up the books on the website of the largest bookseller in the country. They have them there in both Dutch and English, but the Dutch books are three times more expensive!! I'm so glad I always read in English :D It makes it a bit of an expensive present though...
Sandra wrote: "Wow! Snow on September!"This is unusually early for us. Thankfully, it's all gone now. It melted pretty much as soon as it touched the ground.
There were a few scattered clouds here in Oregon in the Portland area last night, but we got a clear view of the eclipse. It was really beautiful and the first time we have been able to watch the whole thing happening. We did not stay outside the whole time, but went out every 10 minutes or so. I was at my daughter's apartment and when I got home my granddaughter was still laying out on the front lawn wrapped in a blanket watching the very last part of the shadow move off.
We went to the zoo today and it as 101. We ended up staying until 2 only because it was just too icky. It's my oldest son's birthday and we always get him zoo passes for the year so it's a tradition.Tomorrow is my youngest child's birthday. She'll be 17. :*(
Thank you KimeyDiann. I know you are right, but it still feels wrong.GR is definitely a bit of an escape.
Well, I'm pretty great at tuning out all news/media and being sick this weekend, I sort of was more unplugged then usual, so I didn't even know about the moon. As a photographer I'm pretty bummed, because it was a clear night here in the Seattle area. I reminded my co-workers today that they're supposed to tell me when significant things are about to happen!
My husband and I are moving to a new state. We've had enough of the winters here in Boston over the past few years and have decided to move a little bit further south where the winters are a bit milder. We've been doing some house-hunting this month and now it's time to pack. Yuck. So much to do. Can't wait to be moved and all settled in again.
Wow! That's kind of cool and brave, just picking up and moving to a different state, good luck! Have fun!
Good luck to you, Kristie! Hope you move is fun and painless. Do you have any previous ties to your new town?
I haven't been on in a while. So I am playing catch up with everyone. I hope everyone is feeling better. We are seeing Strep and Flu in clinic already. We actually had a kid today with Hand/Foot/Mouth which is funny to read about it here.I started my new job 2 weeks ago so I have been busy adjusting to the new schedule and learning my way around. I am taking care of children in a doctor's office. For right now and for the next couple of weeks I am shadowing the doctors while I learn my way around the system. I love it, but am exhausted at the end of the day so I have not been feeling like doing much reading when I get home.
My first day of work was rough though because my grandmother passed away that night. Thank goodness it was orientation and so I had some flexibility. My dad is having kind of a rough time and will need some help when he starts to go through her things.
We had our first campout for the year with cub scouts and ended up having about a hundred people. It was crazy, but everything went well. We learned that we may need to watch the adults a little closer though since the only injuries were with the adults. We had one dad fall out of the tent and hurt his shoulder. We had another dad fall out of the canoes 3 different times. The scariest thing though was when we did the nature hike one of our leaders almost stepped on a rattlesnake. Thank goodness it was cooler weather so it was lethargic and didn't attack, but just moved on.
I think that is my life recap. I hope everyone else is doing well.
Oh, Amanda, I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother. You and your father are in my thoughts.(BTW if I had stepped on a rattlesnake - even a lethargic one - that would be the last time I ever went out camping. *shudder*).
