Readers who are upset with this book (mostly about changes in one character, as far as I can tell) are going through the EXACT same process as Jean Louise. It's very much a story about handling the fall of personal heroes.
To me, it was definitely worth reading and I don't think it'll ruin many readers' experience of To Kill a Mockingbird. My review here for more specifics (spoiler free).

I did not know there were more Kate Forsyth books available in the U.S.! Bitter Greens is going on my buying list right away. Thank you!

That's comforting :) I will probably start it tonight!

I'm glad to hear the criticism of Go Set a Watchman is being overplayed! I guess everyone had super high expectations.Turning out to be a slow month of reading! I went non-genre and listened to the audiobook of Double Indemnity in one sitting earlier this week. It was extremely similar to the film, and the narration was good, but he didn't change voice/tone for dialogues, making it a bit confusing at times.
I've started the audiobook for The Penelopiad, which I'm really liking so far! I'm also still going slowly through Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, and have read a couple more stories from Her Smoke Rose Up Forever.
I finished some out of genre books (The Fan, Outer Banks, Weighed in the Balance), along with King Arthur and the 3rd Recluce book (publication order), The Magic Engineer. Dove into The Bonehunters last night.
I just finished the first book in the Long Price Quartet, A Shadow in Summer, which I thought was wonderful! I'm now reading the second book of the series, A Betrayal in Winter. After that I will take a break and start The Bonehunters with Kathi. :)
I've just finished Shattered Pillars; I felt like I was slogging through tghis book. Everywhere the character went they were attacked and needed clever means to escape. I'm having trouble keeping the various alliances in mind and frustrated that the provided map does not show many of the places the characters go. I will read the third book as I want to know the resolution of this story, but I'm sure there will be many more battles before this is done...sighNow I'm reading out of genre to relax

Thank you!."I don't know if it is available in the US, I hope so! It's my first Forsyth book, and I must admit, it's both intriguing and disturbing, and it's a most interesting retelling with more than one storyline.
Just finished The Penelopiad on audio, a retelling of the Odyssey from Penelope's perspective. It had a lot of ideas, all of which were intriguing, and the humour in it was great. I see it has a lot of people who weren't so keen in the reviews, so I wonder if the audio edition helped me with loving this one - the narration was so animated and well-toned!I'm a third into The Bluest Eye, a non-genre venture, which I'm getting very absorbed in at the moment. And I'll probably be starting the audiobook for Terms of Enlistment at some point this week, to replace The Penelopiad.
I gave up on the Culture book the day after I started. Just wasnt that into it. Wanted something to get my mind in a reading way.Started Iorich
I finished The Thinking Woman's Guide to Real Magic this afternoon, and ended up liking it quite a bit. I felt like it had good characters and some interesting ideas. Plus, the idea of ending up in another world and getting to learn magic is pure wish fulfillment for me, so I don't easily tire of reading about it. :) I'm now starting House of Leaves, which my downstairs neighbor insisted that I needed to borrow.
I finished Armada last night & I really enjoyed it! Being narrated by Wil Wheaton was a huge plus. It started off very slow, but once the plot got going it really pulled me in. All of the geeky references were fun just like in Ready Player One. I wasn't too impressed with the ending, but I'd still recommend this book.My next Audible choice is Fuzzy Nation. I love John Scalzi & I could pass on another book narrated by Wheaton.
A couple of days ago after a "cheer up" visit to the library, I started Authority. I only read the first chapter but I can't wait to tear into it this weekend. I'm dying to learn more about the Southern Reach!
After my previous trip to the library I also started Saga, Volume 4. I've gotten back into the habit of reading too much at once. But it's better than not reading at all, right?
by Erika Johansen. Was reading it on my tablet, but the tablet is running out of electrons, and the charger is at home. It is getting very hard to put down as I get further into the story.
I have not been able to read for 4 days straight, and not because of other entertaining things, it's depressing. I've picked up The Black Company. Bitter Greens was a so and so read, very harsh and a bit rushed at the ending, but I liked it.

Black company really rockss.
Jenny wrote: "My next Audible choice is Fuzzy Nation. I love John Scalzi & I could pass on another book narrated by Wheaton."Scalzi is back and forth on me. Some I really like, some I don't.
Fuzzy Nation was one I really liked. I don't know how it compares to the original books however.
Finished Iorich on the bus on the way to Cleveland. What can I say another good entry in the Vlad Taltos story. The only thing I would like is the death sentence over his head to be removed. Apprently that happens in Hawk.Started Dust of Dreams
Didnt get a chance to really get into it. The lights didnt work on the return trip and I have been trying to catch up on some lost sleep
