Yes that plot twist was really well done! I'm sorry I couldn't get into it for some reason.

Jen (jenwesner) | 1222 comments Just finished The Assassin's Curse (The Assassin's Curse, #1) by Cassandra Rose Clarke and loved it! What a fun story with a spunky heroine and cool assassin. I've immediately moved on to The Pirate's Wish (The Assassin's Curse, #2) by Cassandra Rose Clarke so I can keep the story going. The narration isn't fabulous but is still very good - enhances the story very well.

☆Joycedale☆ | 310 comments Finished Maybe Not (Maybe, #1.5) by Colleen Hoover getting the whole story on Bridgette and Warren was great. I loved seeing how he won her over

Madison (ramblingbookreader) Ten Tiny Breaths (Ten Tiny Breaths, #1) by K.A. Tucker I just finished this last night! I have to say this author does an amazing job of getting you hooked and on the rollercoaster of emotion ride with her! She had a happy ending when i thought there wasnt going to be one. She did it like a boss in just a very short chapter. :)

message 55: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) @Joycedale, I actually just read Nowhere But Here myself this weekend and I agree with you :/ I won't be continuing the series either. I was just so disappointed that I didn't like it since I love her other books. Glad you liked Maybe Not! :D

I have yet to start my books. I do have plans to read them though!

Madison (ramblingbookreader) Fracture (Fracture, #1) by Megan Miranda I just finished Fracture last night. It was a solid 4 starrer. I was frustrated through most of the book because things werent happening how i wanted them to. I do want to read the sequel but I did find this book a bit dark for it being a YA.

Andrea (alexandra14) | 218 comments I totally forgot to post my first update.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky : It wasn't for me. I felt like Charlie was a twelve-years-old instead of a sixteen-years-old. The writing style was irritating and honestly I couldn't care less about Charlie. I was expecting more but didn't have it.

I haven't read it, but I LOVED the movie. I've heard that the movie is way better than the book!

This one has been in my TBR list two years now. I'm intrigued about your comment of HEA in a short chapter, 'cause normally when an author do that it ends being a failure.

Andrea (alexandra14) | 218 comments @Jenny. I have heard that too, but still it doesn't make me want to see it. It's just that I don't care.

That happy ending really did come out of nowhere - and I loved it too! I haven't liked all the books in that series but I'd still recommend it. TTB was the best of the bunch!

Jen (jenwesner) | 1222 comments I'm taking a brief break because I'm listening to The Assassins of Altis (The Pillars of Reality #3) by Jack Campbell - it just came out 2 days ago and I had preordered it. I'm buddy reading it with a BookTube friend and it is FABULOUS! Jenny and Karen and David you would all love this series!

Jen (jenwesner) | 1222 comments OK I'm going back to The Queen of the Tearling (The Queen of the Tearling, #1) by Erika Johansen , which is kind of dragging for me. I'll give it another hour or so and then DNF it if I can't get into it.

Madison (ramblingbookreader) Life As We Knew It (Last Survivors, #1) by Susan Beth Pfeffer finished this book last night at around 2:30 in the morning. This author did an excellent job making me want to run to walmart and start stock piling in case an asteroid hits the moon and causes all kinds of issues. I seriously was anxious reading this book, kinda nervous to read the second one because of how anxious I was. I am going if something happens I will know what to do.....Kinda freaked me out though lol

message 76: by Jen (new)

Jen (jenwesner) | 1222 comments I just finished The Queen of the Tearling (The Queen of the Tearling, #1) by Erika Johansen and wow. It took awhile for this to really get going but once it did, it was pretty amazing. I did think the pacing was off - addressed that in my review - and Katherine Kellgren while amazing was pretty intense. She also narrated the Ashes trilogy by Ilsa Bick, so I knew what to expect. She really gets carried away when the action picks up! All in all, I really liked it and can't wait to read the sequel.

I read the first book a year or two ago, and then picked up book 2 this year and then went on a binge reading 2, 3 and 4 one right after the other. Freaky realistic. Loved the series.

Finished Stolen Songbird (The Malediction Trilogy, #1) by Danielle L. Jensen 4.5 stars.

I LOVED this fantasy about trolls and witches! Very unique story, and I don't think I've quite fallen in love with "the bad guy" quite so quickly LOL!

Jen (jenwesner) | 1222 comments OK, finished up Talon (Talon, #1) by Julie Kagawa and meh. Drama, drama, drama. Do I like him or do I not? Or do I like him over there better? I can't leave my traitorous secretive brother! Do I like her or not? Can I finish my mission?

PUH-LEASE. If I had to read one more time about one of these characters being indecisive I thought I would have to throw my iPod across the room. This book goes in the "defines teenage angst" pile. How could this same author have written the Blood of Eden series?

Also, Caitlin Davies drove me right up a wall. I kept listening because of MacLeod Andrews, whom I love. But ugh. She was awful.

Moving on to my last book now - A Hidden Fire (Elemental Mysteries, #1) by Elizabeth Hunter . I think I'm going to read it as an ebook because I'm not sure I'll like the narrator (Dina Perlman) and I don't want to take a chance. I might try it but I probably will just go with the ebook.

In the meantime I'm listening to The Shadow Prince (Mortal Enchantment, #1) by Stacey O'Neale which is a novella narrated by the fabulous Zachary Webber. A friend on BookTube says it's the best novella she's ever read. We'll see. Even if it is - it's Zachary Webber. He makes everything good.

☆Joycedale☆ | 310 comments Finished Life As We Knew It (Last Survivors, #1) by Susan Beth Pfeffer and you guys was right, scary real. Plus it's written so well! I had no idea it would be like a journal and it sounded totally believable to be from a 16 yr old girl.

Yes, I bought it in January of 2014!!! and not read it yet. The Shade of the Moon (Last Survivors, #4) by Susan Beth Pfeffer

Jen (jenwesner) | 1222 comments Finished up A Hidden Fire (Elemental Mysteries, #1) by Elizabeth Hunter and I think Elizabeth Hunter is one of my new favorite authors! I can't wait to get to the sequel. She has this way of writing characters and pacing that is just right.

I've moved on to Sweet (Contours of the Heart, #3) by Tammara Webber and of course I'm basking in the amazing narration that Zach Webber does. He is so good - I couldn't even really tell you why. I don't think "ooh he's so sexy" or "ooh he's so dramatic" - I think he's just spot-on accurate in his delivery of the writing.

After that's done, I'm done with my list! This was great fun! Thanks everyone!

I finished Opal (Lux, #3) by Jennifer L. Armentrout and then binge read books 4 & 5 right after. I think I rated it 4 stars. For me it was an alien Twilight. Instead of sparkly vampires, we had brightlight aliens. ;) I got a bit annoyed at Dameon's constant need for sex at the oddest times. Overall I did enjoy the series though.
