Just finished Jodi Picoult's Vanishing Acts this morning. Although I started it in June, I'm counting it for July. Next up is a little light reading with another Janet Evanochich. I have almost finished The Hope Habit by Terry Law, another one I will count for July. Actually I read everything in hard copies. I just like the feel of the book in my hands and the action of turning the pages.
Just finished Unbecoming, by Rebecca Scherm. I loved it! (Full disclosure: I am acquainted with the author, but I would really like it even if I didn't know her.) A really great, complicated female protagonist, art, antiques, and wonderful writing. Next up: I am reading Gilead, for my book group, and The Luminaries, for fun!
I'm reading The Season of Migration by Nellie Hermann. She's doing an author talk at the library next week so I want to be ready. It's dense, but really interesting. It's about Van Gogh and it has authentic autobiographical information from his letters, but she also intersperses it with imagined information from his world. It's different from what I usually read and I really like it. I'm excited for her talk. I'm planning to read the rest of the books by authors coming this summer (during this month). My time is a bit limited, working in a public library in a town that gets 19,000 summer visitors - but this is fun! Thank you, Gabriela!
I'm glad! I'm having a lot of fun hearing about what people are reading, in addition to enjoying my own book.
I'm in the middle of reading death before wicket (one of the Phryne Fisher mysteries). It's not exactly great literature, but it's a lot of fun so far.
Apart from the innovation tournament book I'm reading "when shadows fall" - anything but mindboggling literature but perfect for this weekend where I plan to move between pool and lounge chair and just read.
I finished my first book today, and wrote up a few preliminary thoughts: http://wp.me/p6kzYH-1q
I have a few things to get done today, but look forward to starting Karen Memory tonight.

I'm also definitely paying closer attention than I would on the ebook, partly in conscious effort because of the challenge, but also because mysteries have details you need to keep in mind.
How's it going for you?
