Boaz, just completed the audio.I really liked it.
I am going to go against the mood of the room here, and say that I like Nicky, and have done since the first time of reading. I also enjoy Francis Cheviot, and the romance ...But I do find other 'youngsters' in Heyer annoying, particularly Frederica's three brothers. All pains, especially Felix - who suffers from 'the author found him adorable, so you must too'.
Rosina, I'm on the same page with you about Felix.I really couldn't stand him.
He's just the sort of child I dread to be around.
How do you like 10 year old "Ben" from "The Toll Gate?" I really like that little fellow.
I'd find Nick more palatable if he really had been as young as he behaves (with the exception of (view spoiler)

Ben's fine - The Toll Gate isn't one of my favourite books, but it does have some good characters.
Another really annoying child is the one in Sylvester - I'd have let his mother and step-father keep him ...
I can't recall little Edmund all that well.I think he was "overshadowed" by his mother and stepfather that the two of them mitigated any annoyance I might have normally had felt toward Edmund.
LOL I liked all of those in their respective books, but know full well that I would have no patience with them if I met them in real life.
I'm listening to the audio again.The narrator deserves an award for Francis Cheviot alone. It's hilarious! The things FC says, and to hear it spoken by this particular narrator! I could listen to FC ad nauseam!

i like Nicky very much,I think he is funny. And that terrible dog of his. i like Felix too, i think he is the most interesting person in fredericka.

the audiobook I have is read by Cornelius Garrett, who is very good. I love his Francis Cheviot, and his Miss Beccles.
I am considering getting audible just for this ;-)

I pretty much like all of Heyer's boys. (at least, I can't think of one, off-hand, that I don't like!)
Cornelius Grant is the name of the reader for the audio edition that I have.He does a great job.

I don't have brothers or sons. I passionately hated Nick during my first read.
I still find him very childish.
