Anna | 28 comments I haven't managed to get started on this yet. I really need to finish up what I am reading first and then I shall get to it.

I have it but, like Anna, not ready to start it quite yet. I did have to get it from the Amazon marketplace, as I didn't find it in any libraries.

Anna | 28 comments That's what I did Jan. Couldn't find it any of the East Sussex libraries so got a copy on the Amazon Marketplace.

Hopefully, I should be finished with reading The Ghost of Hannah Mendes today so will get started then.

Anna | 28 comments How are you all getting on with this book? I am about a third of the way through and am enjoying it. Does anyone have any thoughts on why the author went in search of Roland while her father was very ill? I know she addressed the point herself but I still thought the timing a bit odd.

I had to put this one aside. So far, it's so-o-o much on her family history and every little personality detail of everybody. I'm sure I'd learn a lot from it--I already did learn some new things, as a matter of fact--but will have to try again and see if my experience has changed.

H.L. Gibson (hlgibson) | 15 comments I absolutely loved this book. The blend of history and personal details was well balanced. There is so much about the Holocaust that I never learned in school, such as the deep personal loss to the Jewish people and the indifference of many nations to help save them, and I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

I will check back into this book later, to see if I have a different take on it. Either it just wasn't for me, or now wasn't the right time. Made it to p. 57. If others have written reviews, I'll take a look.
