Brian: Welcome. I'm going to be rude. I clicked on the first of your books, Emerald, and read the first review:
"Yes it is true that the editing and proofreading in this book left a lot to be desired."
I'm a reader, not a writer. Proofing and editing errors can kill my interest. Is the version now available the same as that this reviewer read in 2013?
Jon
Is Emerald the start of the series?
I vehemently disagree with the reviewer--while it's true that I and my proofreaders missed a typo here and there (easy to do in a big manuscript!) and one "the the" that I remember offhand, it's for the most part error-free (I'm a grammar and spelling geek--lol!). And I'm not aware of any issues with the editing (although I've heard that the formatting doesn't always translate well to various e-readers, and this was formatted and checked for a very early Kindle device)--that's a bit puzzling. However, some Amazon reviewers will trash a book for one minor mistake (or what they perceive to be one), and sometimes you get sandbagged by competitors, as I and many others have found out! That being said, I would urge you to wait until the second edition comes out (soon)--the characters have changed a bit by the fifth volume and I've updated the story (it's essentially the same, but I think better!).
Yes, "Emerald" is the first.
Brian: Thanks for the response. I'd enjoy giving Emerald a try. It sounds like a good idea for me to wait for the 2nd edition. If you remember, please send me a message when it is out. Thanks, JonPS Unless you plan to up the price significantly, in which case I'll go ahead. LOL.
