hashtag with automatic Tweets ?

Is there an automatic way to get GR to include the #Pages4Progress hashtag with our reading updates on Twitter? It seems to me that unless I remember to type in the tag #Pages4Progress, my tweets arrive without them. This makes it a bit more difficult to update daily.

Great question! I will try to find out if that is possible. In the meantime, I think the only way to include #Pages4Progress in your updates is if you add in the hashtag manually. Sorry for the inconvenience! I will let you know what I find out from Goodreads.

Hi Shira, I heard back from Goodreads about your awesome suggestion for automatically adding in hastags to your reading updates. Here's the response:

"Unfortunately, there isn't currently a way to automate adding hashtags to your status updates--sorry about that. Right now the function is pretty basic. But it's a great suggestion! We'll definitely consider adding support for that as we continue to improve our Twitter integration with the site.

Members will need to add the tag to their status updates manually for now. Be sure to remind Group members so they don't forget to add the tag to their reading progress updates."

Sorry to not have better news to report right now. But, it sounds like Goodreads might be able to add that function in the future. In the meantime, please keep adding #Pages4Progress to your reading updates -- you are inspiring new readers to join the campaign with every Tweet!

No problem -I find that sometimes the tweet gets to the p4p 'section' and sometimes it does not -does the hashtag have to go at the top or the bottom of the update?

Hmm, I am not sure why the hashtag would only appear some of the time. As long as the post is public and includes the tag #pages4progress, it should display on the feed. Let me take a look at the Twitter feed to see if there is something wrong. Thanks Shira!
