A fresh group page, a fresh start! Let's get to know one another, old and new members like, by sharing a few things about ourselves. I'll start us off:

I'm Kristin, English teacher/writing coach/Ravenclaw/video game nerd. I run My Life as a Teacup and head the NovelTea Book Club here!

Favorite genres include: sci-fi/fantasy, Victorian lit, urban fantasy & magical realism, YA (namely sci-fi/fantasy/dystopian), and comic books. And Neil Gaiman. Who I am now making into his own genre.

When I'm not reading, which, who am I kidding, is hardly ever, I enjoy sketching and playing video games (lately: Dragon Age, Borderlands 2, Arkham City...yeah, yeah, and FFVII in preparation for the remake!). Though usually my ambitious self ends up perusing Tumblr instead.

I'm Alice, geek girl, blogger, memory keeper and lover of caffeine, cats, hobbits and books.

When not writing, you’ll probably find me joining photo challenges on Instagram, snapping photos of my Tolkien collection, casting spells to my cat, just to be prepared when I’ll receive my Hogwarts Acceptance Letter, and scheduling posts on my personal blog, The Geeky Burrow.

Mandy (mandyannecurtis) | 3 comments Hi everyone!

I'm Mandy, a technical writer by day and YA/pop culture blogger by night. I also like to consider myself a "small town girl in a nerdy world."

Favorite genres include: sci-fi, fantasy, dystopias, magical realism, fairy tales and their retellings, steampunk, historical fiction ... really, I'll read it all. I most often read YA (because I get a lot of free copies of them through the site I write for), but do read an "adult" book on occasion.

When I'm not reading, I'm: watching movies, watching TV, perusing the Internet for nerdy news or the next best GIF, hanging with my husband and two dogs, or spending times with my friends (many of whom I met through book club).

Audrey Fizer | 2 comments Hi everyone!

I'm migrating over from the Facebook group, though I maintain that I still love the fb format :)

I'm Audrey, 28 year old World History teacher (9th & 10th grade). I like to say that I teach the entire history of the world in 90 days. 6 times a year. I'm also a volleyball coach, a wife, a dog mom, and a proud aunt.

I'm a terrible blogger, and more of a social media stalker than a poster ;) I have also loved being a part of this group, even during the school year when I didn't read essentially anything other than student work!

Eva (misseva) | 4 comments Hi everyone, I'm Eva. Here from the Facebook group as well.

I sell real estate and work part-time teaching technology at a library. I've been a big reader all my life - my favourites are children's fiction, children's picture books, fairy tales, and historical fiction. I'm also a fan of nonfiction history books. :-)

I ♥ video games, fuzzy blankets, gardens, Studio Ghibli, and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Jacquelyn Hello!

I'm a teacher in Canada. I've moved around a few different provinces - teaching jobs are difficult to find in Canada. An online book club is perfect for me since I can't seem to settle. (If anyone in the group is from NB shout out!). I've just started a blog about books and travelling since I seem to be doing both quite often.

When I'm not moving across the country I travel, play squash, read, knit, spin yarn, sew, and other crafty pass times.

I look forward to engaging in some good discussions in this group!

Tenisha (tdsw) | 12 comments Hi all,

I'm also moving over here from facebook. I'm a 20-something legal assistant from Toronto, Canada who loves reading, tea, naps, and small children (specifically, mine).

Similar to Audrey above, I'm also a terrible blogger, but do love keeping up with things on social media.

I love reading I'm really looking forward to July's book, even though I haven't finished June's quite yet (I got sucked into the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy and it just wouldn't let me go).

message 11: by Allison (new)

Allison (serotoninshelves) | 13 comments Hello!

I'm also migrating from the Facebook group, and am excited to explore yet another aspect of this Goodreads app. I'm currently living in Texas, but consider myself a native Washingtonian (state, not DC). I'm a grad student studying analytical chemistry, and rely on reading and Netflix to keep me sane.

Besides loving to read (favorite genres are mystery and nonfiction), I also love live music, watching baseball (and football if the Seahawks are playing), kayaking, scented candles, and keeping the art of letter writing alive. So if anyone wants a pen pal, you just let me know.

Rachel Hello all!

I am Rachel, a graduate student pursuing a doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Currently, I work in retail and, during the school year, I have a GA recruiting MD/PhD students at my university.

Harry Potter was my first love, and since then I have enjoyed reading basically any genre. In my spare time I love Netflix marathons and hiking. My goal in life is to own a dog (because at the moment I don't think that will happen anytime soon).

Jordan Klein Hello!

Tavia Clark (taviaclark) | 3 comments Hi! I'm Tavia Clark from Norfolk, VA. I'm a high school librarian in northeastern NC. Before moving into the library, I was an English teacher.

Reading has always been a passion of mine. As a hs librarian, I try to read a lot of YA Lit. Young adult lit is so powerful!! I love dystopian, mystery, horror and realistic fiction. I've also started reading a lot of graphic novels and comics.

Other than reading, I love baking, collecting vinyl, going to shows and spending time with my husband and my kitty.

I'm super excited we are going to utilize Goodreads! I've used it a lot with my students!!

Jessmc | 1 comments Hi! I'm new to the group having just found it a few days ago on Facebook. I am a Special Ed teacher on a K-5 campus.

During the summer, I can get through a book in a day or two, but during the school year, it takes a bit longer.

I LOVE to read and am open to most genres though I am really enjoying what the YA world is offering up.

I am also a big time Harry Potter, Sherlock, Doctor Who, Supernatural nerd who spends way too much time on Pinterest with the other "fan girls".

By day I am an Interlibrary Loan sleuth at an academic library (we have a fantastic “Popular Reading” section). When I’m not working I love to hike, write, bake cupcakes, spend time with my family, and of course READ.

I am obsessed with all things Jane Austen and Alice in Wonderland. I will pretty much read anything that is recommended to me, or I try to at least give it shot.

My favorite book of all time is The Great Gatsby and my current favorite book is Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore.

So excited to be here with all you bibliophiles!

Hello! My name is Kathryn and I'm just your average college student, swimming and choking in debt and stress-induced breakdowns! I live in the beautiful and colorful Colorado.

For me, I have a proclivity for Supernatural Romance. Or just Supernatural genre in general. I also love reading manga. But I would love to expand my horizons. My favorite author is Jennifer L. Armentrout who, of course, writes that sort of fiction. However, what makes her interesting is her use of creatures who do not typically populate the average Supernatural Romance. She uses abnormal creatures such as aliens (the Lux, the Arum) and gargoyles (the Wardens). I would love to start reading comic books, so if any of you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

My interests are music (isn't it everyone's), reading (obviously), figure skating (ha didn't see that one coming did you?), hiking, making people feel awkward, finding elusive coffee shops and book stores, watching danisnotonfire, and sending myself into existential crisises.

I heard about this group by recommendation of a YouTuber - My Life as a Teacup. I'm really looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Stay in school. Stay classy. Respect nerds.

I found out about this group from my friend, Sara Brink, and I am excited to join! I am a graphic designer in San Diego, CA.

I tend to read a lot of mysteries, gotta love those page turners! I also enjoy literary novels, YA, memoirs written by my favorite comedians *cough* Bossy Pants *cough*, and really anything that keeps me turning those pages, it's all about a good story. Also, Sara and I literally have the same TBR list! ;)

Besides reading; I love theatre, making people laugh, hand lettering, coffee shops, writing letters, and constantly wishing for it to be colder than it is...where are you fall?! ;)

Looking forward to reading with you ladies!

Katelynn Rhoton (katelynnr) Hi guys!

I'm Katelynn. I'm a children's librarian, which is the most fun job ever since it combines two of my favorite things: working with kids and books! I have a bachelor's in English but I'm back in school now to get my license to teach elementary school.

So many people say this, but I'll read almost anything. I tend to be drawn more towards fantasy and classic literature. I've also recently really gotten into non-fiction.

When I'm not working or studying, I'm usually reading (obviously), but I also enjoy watching movies, working on DIY projects, and hiking.

This is my first month participating in this book club and I'm excited to join in with all of you!
