I have read The Farseer Trilogy some years back and now I'm reading The Liveship Traders Trilogy and I'm in the middle of the second book.
I liked the Farseer Trilogy because there was much tension and exciting stuff happened. I only didn't like the last part of the trilogy. The end was disappointing and not very well designed IMO.
Now, some years later, I'm halfway through the second book in the 2nd trilogy, as I said. I like the characters, they are very detailed and vivid. BUT: The story - it's boring.
Nothing ever happens. Sure, SOMETHING is happening but most of it is progressing very slowly and there is nearly no tension in it. No plot twists and nothing. I like the fact that it is so detailed and you can understand every decision of every character. Nearly feel what they feel and think what they think.
But I can barely read a chapter before I stop reading again for a while, because it feels like nothing is happening.
Maybe I'm too spoiled by other modern fantasy where nearly every time you turn the page something very important happens. The last books I read are all of the Brandon Sanderson books and The First Law Trilogy, so that is probably one cause :)
So here are my questions:
1. Will it get more exciting, and is this just a very slow progression to an awesome and exciting third part?
2. Will the next trilogy (Tawny Man) be more like the first books of the Farseer Trilogy?
If at least one of these questions has a positive answer, I think I'll read on but at the moment I am really considering to get a more exciting book.
Thanks for your advice in advance!
