Elemental Powers

So, the creation of their elements for all of them, naturally.
Dark maybe illusions completely, since we don't have light. It could also have dreams or something like that, you can give people pleasant dreams or nightmares.
Everyone would have some sort of telekinetic power over their element.
Electric can charge phones and other devices by touching them.
How are those?

Fire resistance to fire wielders, water breathing to water breathers... how powerful do you want these abilities to be? Are you thinking "gods among insects" or the less powerful "super humans?"
Okay, so no earthquakes.
In Avatar, earth-benders could manipulate soil and rocks. One could detect anything around her that touched the ground, so they have basically a 360-degree radar.
Air could be able to fly, or have teleportation abilities similar to electricity. Dark has plenty of powers already, but it could have Shadow Travel, which is basically teleportation using shadows as portals.
Perhaps a limit could be that they can't create the element, just use it. Though this would give earth, air, and shadow a huge advantage, since theirs is everywhere and the other elements won't be randomly found wherever you go.

As well as the rare breathing underwater thingy, water could have the power to walk on water or swim faster than any other element could.
Perhaps we could pair emotion with the elements for the more advanced classes. Air users can bestow a cheerful, care-free but reckless aura while fire users can be warm and welcoming like a hearth, or terrifying like a wildfire. Earth would radiate an old wisdom, water peace and serenity with a tsunami if things get rough, dark would send fear into people and electricity can charge them with energy.
Oh, and night vision for Dark, I think.

Working as a team with multiple wielders could be made more desirable by having them boost each other's powers.
Fire spreads more easily with more oxygen and wind can spread it really quickly, so air and fire are powerful combinations.
Electricity travels through water, an excellent conductor.
Shade helps plants grow stronger and taller, and night vision would really help earth wielders to tunnel and mine and such.
So those could be the main "alliances." Fire and air, electricity and water, shade and earth.

Fire has often been associated with smithing and cooking, so Fire wielders could be natural chefs and good with metal. Though I'm not sure how much the metal thing will help anyone in a modern day setting.
So creating and controlling fire is too much power, but how about just heat? A fire person could heat up the air, which would help air wielders create updrafts and some weather phenomenon. It would also let them survive in colder climates, keeping areas warm.
Since there's no ice, water could have ice-based powers maybe. Or speak to fish!
Everyone can speak to animals native to their own element. Fire would be able to speak with Phoenixes and dragons (if we're going to go that crazy with this), water with fish, electricity with... I guess just electric eels, but maybe some mythological stuff, too, air with birds and bats, earth with worms, moles, and other underground creatures, and Dark with anything nocturnal, like owls, bats, and moles.
There would be some intersection, of course.

Okay, the air thing depending on emotional state could be expanded like this:
A person's mental state will help them control a certain element.
A feeling of freedom, liberty, or rebellion would help one cast winds. Recklessness would allow them more power over it but very little control over the air phenomena they create. Meanwhile, confinement, a feeling that one is being controlled in some way, and a sense of forced order would weaken the air wielder.
A desire to welcome or consume (to bring oneself to a thing, as fire either welcomes you as a hearth or surges toward you as an inferno) would strengthen a fire, that is, a desire to use the power for their purpose.
Not actually wanting to perform the end goal, such as participating in a fight one knows they will lose, would weaken the powers.
When a water person is feeling peace, they will have a gentle control over water, but not for very strong offensive purposes. With sorrow and bitterness, they would have stronger offense.
However, when confusion or a disorganized and chaotic state of mind is achieved, it will be harder to "think like water" and the wielder will lose much of their powers.
To feel old is not necessarily to feel weak. To feel the wisdom of the earth guiding your actions is the strongest phase for an earth-wielder as the very rocks guide your motion. The more one is grounded in some form of history, be it their family legacy or tribe's ancient customs, the stronger their earth powers grow.
A feeling of isolation from history, that one is "the first in a new generation" or separate from the mistakes or achievements of the ancestors makes one lose control over the earth as their connection weakens. One's connection with the past is one's connection with the earth.
If Dark had to feel fear to gain their full power, that would be really terrible for them, because then they could only win fights that they were losing, and that makes no sense at all. So perhaps intimidating is what they should feel, they should feel the fear of others around them instead for power.
But if no one is afraid, if no one is intimidated, the Dark's power wanes. Only their own fear is there, and that doesn't help them at all.
To be electric is to be energetic. When one is bouncing off the walls, wanting to spread and run into everything, one captures the spirit of electricity. The more alive and awake one feels, the stronger their powers.
The natural drawback is that when one is tired and exhausted, their powers wane. While bored, sad, or any other emotion that leads to silence and repression, the electricity stops being in tune with that person's body and will not listen to their call.

That is absolutely perfect, I'm just gonna copy and paste this (and say it's from you) onto the post, if that's okay...
That's fine. Thanks. "Do I become a moderator now," he asked playfully and hoping not to incite any wrath.
XD actually, I've seen how you do, and Alice hasn't been on in a few days, so I'm going ahead and 'promoting' you. Congrats, lol.
for water have them be able to telepathically talk to any sea animal
As opposed to electric and dark.
Electric can channel their powers through water. It allows the water tribe an offensive edge that is difficult for them to have while keeping their minds at peace.

Thank you Cahil for coming up with this whole thing!! :) :) :) (hide spoiler)]
Okay, so any ideas? I'd like everybody's opinion on these - it'll make it more interesting :)
