Checking in!So do you have a schedule for your many BR's? :) I only have 6 this month and not one is set up for a date yet. Other than this coming weekend, I'm open.
So hi! I think I'm about ready to tackle one of these. I have 1 more audio to squeeze in before it's returned. So I'll probably start one of these (Night Road) over the weekend. Of course, Bingo starts Friday so that might change by a day or two. Do you have a preference on which book you would like to read first?
Okay, cool. I own them so I can listen to them whenever. BUT... I have a slight problem with signing up for team challenges, lol. By next Wednesday I will have 5 going. So much for taking it easy this summer, haha!
Have you started this yet? I'm about halfway through Ch. 11I have to say, I'm pretty bored. It's not bad or anything but it is very Preachy. I don't have anything against it! She always refers to God and religious stuff so I was expecting some. But yeah, I kinda feel like I'm at Sunday school and I'm a little bored.
*hides in the corner*
Yep same here, I'm on chapter 7 Samuel has just got back from the reservation.I agree VERY preachy, I've never noticed it before in her other books when people have said about it, but this one is like a smack on the head with a bible lol
but this one is like a smack on the head with a bible*snickers*
That's pretty accurate! I've zoned out during a few of the school bus sermons. Hopefully, it picks up later! *crosses fingers*
3/4 through chapter 12(view spoiler)
Oh, and it's slightly less Preachy at chapter 12. At least the part that I'm at now.
I finished this morning. I'm thinking 3 stars... On the one hand, I wanna go by GR and say 2 stars- it was okay. On the other, the writing is still very good and if I were in a different mood I might have liked it more. I'm pretty sure those lessons that I was supposed to be learning about- went in one ear and out the other, lol! 2.5 stars rounded up to 3 then, it was okay and I liked it well enough.
Yeah finished this afternoon, gave it 3 stars but it wasn't my favourite of hers I'm afraid, I'll still buy anything she writes though lol

When Josie Jensen, an awkward 13-year-old musical prodigy, crashes headlong into new kid Samuel Yazzie, an 18-year-old Navajo boy full of anger and confusion, an unlikely friendship blooms. Josie teaches Samuel about words, music, and friendship, and along the way finds a kindred spirit. Upon graduation, Samuel abandons the sleepy, small town in search of a future and a life, leaving his young mentor behind. Many years go by, and Samuel returns to find his old friend in need of the very things she offered him years before. Their roles reversed, Samuel teaches Josie about life, love, and letting go.
Deeply romantic and poignant, 'Running Barefoot' is the story of a small town girl and a Native American boy, the ties that bind us to our homes and families, and the love that gives us wings.
