Kimberly | 6 comments Hello,

Ok, here goes...I have a question:

I've written a novel, the first of a series. I'm looking to get some reviews and feedback and was hoping to submit it via pdf or any other way to whoever may be interested in a read and can provide a review/feedback (a little blurb on FB or just a clicking of stars or a big schpeal, whatever they feel inclined)?

A little background on this project:

- The purpose of this project is to create a revenue stream for a worthy charity (tbd) - profits from this project will be donated to the charity. Assisting communities and peoples in need is paramount and I'm hopeful I'll gain some guidance to make this goal a reality.

- Entitled Waves in the Desert, this series is based around a trio of of bubbly and enthusiastic 20-somethings, Mia Raven (protagonist), Veronica Duke and Kevin Manning. They decide to create a not-for-profit aimed at training volunteers to ultimately assist communities abroad.

- The characters begin in San Francisco and progress to (mostly in the later novels) Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia, as well as other third-world nations. Real-world events and actual locations and people are utilised to increase the plausibility of the positive actions of the characters.

- This will be a 4 -5 novel series, for which a full timeline has been developed.

- Mia narrates the story from the present, when she undergoes a significant accident. As her bleak present situation progresses, the story jumps back to the past, recounting the main events that occurred leading up to her present. Mia's maturity and personal as well as physical strength is highly contrasted between the time periods, as well as a reflection on "what is important" in our daily lives. Thus, the story jumps from past to present intermittently.

- The novel is contemporary fiction, aimed to young adults, though may attract a slightly older age range. The amount of action and intensity is countered by a lot of dancing and humorous escapades, with a strong touch of romance.

- The novel is currently unpublished and is lodged with the USA copyright office. A few lyrics and references to songs are used/referred to, and the artists are noted but WitD has no direct affiliation with the artists (also noted in the copyright lodgement).

- I am an American & Canadian citizen, living in Australia (currently about to get my Aus citizenship too!), born in England (I'm complicated...).

- Lindsey Powers in California assisted with the editing and sketches of all images found in our facebook page (if you have time to like the page, that'd be amazing!) and other media sources were donated by a local artist, PJ Illustrations & Design.

- Fun fact, Lindsey was a cheerleader in my grade, at my high school ten+ years ago. She reached out to me (I, who was very much not a cheerleader) when she heard of the project I was undertaking and has devoted significant hours and priceless guidance. If you could provide advice and/or contact details of who I might be able to submit a pdf/or similar version of my novel, I"d greatly appreciate it. My goal right now is to to gain honest reviews from around the world.

While I value gaining several opinions, I'll say the obligatory privacy request that the works I'd send will be meant for yourself and your book club to review, and your response will agree to not print or infringe on the copyright of these works. Should you want to print or send any Waves in the Desert (WitD) works to a wider audience, please just let me know prior to proceeding so I can confirm your intentions are in the best interest of the philanthropic goals of this project.

Thank you so very much for your time and please let me know if you have any questions (my email and facebook page is below)!

Regards,
Kimberly Beadle
