Amanda | 23 comments Personal bias is the values, ideals and personal preferences we add to the characters as we read the novel. If the author has written characters that match up with your preferences you like the character more. If the author has characters that act outside of your preferences the character is not as enjoyable. We all have triggers and personal bias that guide us to what books we enjoy and what books we should personally stay away from. When we encounter them in novels there are two reactions that take place. The I don't like the character views and actions but that is just me or I didn't like the book because the characters didn't act the way I wanted them to act. I do not like the overly emotional dark heroes of young adult novels and the heroines who love them but doesn't mean I won't still check out the books. What are your Personal bias?
