Scott (thekeeblertree) | 1049 comments Damn, some crazy scenes so far in this part.

Trull fighting off the Jheck was pretty intense as well as the fight for the sword.

So we get confirmation that the god we met in the prologue is in fact the crippled god. I'm guessing the sword he had Withal make was the one the Sengar's were sent to take. Do you think his plan all along was for one of the sons to touch it first or was he hoping the King would be the one to do it? Seems like he has a grudge against the warlord

Just finished chapter 9 with Rhulad coming back to the world of the living. Some of the creepiest, intense shit so far in this book. The image of him covered in coins is hard to shake

Wonder if this book will take us to near present day and give us some more info on what happened to get Trull exiled

Peter | 153 comments Yeah I think even the final scene of Book Two with Rhulad and Trull gives us some insight into the circumstance of why Trull will be exiled.
'Must you break those who would follow you?' Trull asked.
'Another word!' Rhulad shrieked. 'One more word, Trull, and I will have you flayed alive!'
Trull recoiled at the vehemence, stunned into silence.

Not each other's biggest fans.

Definitely getting more into the story now after that painful start. (:

Same here - wasn't necessarily painful, just hard to adjust to not only new characters, but a new continent, new time period, new gods (or names for them at least).

Are any of the Edur we have seen so far present in any of the previous books? Or are the only Edur we've seen so far the crew of the ship the Toblakai kills in the fragmented warren?

Are the Lethari present at all, or is this the first we see of them?

I wonder what Bugg's deal is - he is definitely more than just a mortician.

The dialogue between Tehol and Bugg is cracking me up.

Scott (thekeeblertree) | 1049 comments That dialogue was the one saving grace for me in these parts of this book. I had a helluva time getting into this one.

As far as I remember, this was our first introduction to the Letherii.

We met Trull Sengar in House of Chains who had been shorn and chained up when the T'lan Imass Onrack found him and they started palling around.

Tehol and Bugg saved this book for me. Sadly they couldn't do the same for Reaper's Gale.

Sky | 1291 comments Yeah, I remember Trull. I wasn't sure if this is the only settlement of Tiste Edur left or there are others they hadn't discovered, and if Edur that pursued Trull and the I'mass and were later killed by the Toblakai in the previous book were from this settlement or one yet undiscovered.
