Henry Sturcke | 455 comments In the entry for this book, the paperback edition put out by Pocket Books in its Cardinal edition appears three, possibly four times. The reason I'm not sure is that one is labeled Cardinal Giant. Perhaps that was a large-print edition and should be listed separately.

I own a copy of the book. The cover depicted is correct. It was first published March 1957 and was frequently reprinted.

In addition, the search for Profiles in Courage turns up a second hit, linking to the "Inaugural Edition", 1961.

Empress (the_empress) Combined. Large prints should be combined as the content is the same.

Worldcad says: Originally published: Harper & Brothers, 1956.

Can you provide a link as I am not seeing this?

Henry Sturcke | 455 comments Thanks, Ellie.

Yes, the first edition, Harper, was 1956. Pocket Books issued a mass market paperback in their "Cardinal" imprint in 1957. My copy was reprinted in 1961, but had the same cover. I'm still seeing multiples of that when I search "Profiles in Courage".

The Inaugural Edition, 1961, I referred to was this one:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
But now for some reason it shows up as an edition of the main entry. Perhaps you fixed it already, or maybe the server glitched it to a second entry (I checked twice before I reported it).

Henry Sturcke | 455 comments And here's a publisher that plans ahead:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
says the publication date will be Dec. 31, 2075!

Henry Sturcke | 455 comments Now there is a second iteration of the inaugural edition:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
with inaugural spelled inaugral.

Re the four editions that are all the Pocket "Cardinal" edition. Shall I copy the links for all of them?

Where? It might be a cashing issue.

I'm seeing 1961. However the two inaugural editions should be merged me thinks Merged

yes please

Henry Sturcke | 455 comments Ok, here they are:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

BTW, I'm also seeing three entries of the first edition (1956, not 1955), as well as three of the memorial edition (no date given, I'm guessing it would have been 1964 or so).

Empress (the_empress) I'm seeing those all combined. Not sure why it hasn't updated for you yet.

Thanks, Ellie. I'll wait for an hour or so, then search the title again.

In future, please start a new thread, as this one is for a specific book.

Ellie, I just searched again, and I still get four iterations of the Pocket Books Cardinal edition. These are the same book, simply reprinted over and over.

Empress (the_empress) I don't understand why are you not seeing them combined. They are all here: https://www.goodreads.com/work/editio...

lethe | 16359 comments I think Henry means that they need to be merged?

Yes, I was just looking at all editions and figured that must be what he is trying to say. It didn't occur to me.

I looked at the editions and deleted three empty editions that were obvious and merged one more. For the rest I see not reason for merging.
