Discuss your thoughts on this chapter. Anything amazing or juicy, or something that irks you?

Finished this chapter! Matilda is such a witch though given what I know is to come with Eleanor of Aquitaine in the next era, it's intriguing to see what came before. And what amazes me is the Robert in jail! And then with what happens with Clito.. What luck for Henry of England.

Meanwhile I think I prefer this flowery writing with the Carr novels. Am I the only one who feels like it's a tad over dramatic?
I just feel an undercurrent of less than serious snarkiness to the whole tone thus far.

MaryKatherine (opheliaellie131) | 202 comments Haha I agree with you, Marie! I don't see that same urgency and seriousness that accompany most historical fiction novels centered around a major crisis. I think part of that is what makes this such a quick read.

MaryKatherine (opheliaellie131) | 202 comments I really liked the first book in this series and so far the other two have not/are not measuring up.

I agree... I really LOVED the first one. This one needs a swift kick in the plot development.. Like Die, Henry!

MaryKatherine (opheliaellie131) | 202 comments I could take a big red marker to a lot of this novel and cut out a lot of unnecessary repetitive dialogue and thought processes...
