Period mystery book about a young girl who grew up somewhere with yaks, she is taken to England by a mysterious man who keeps her from dying of diphtheria on the journey. She is returned to her family, but there is a man who is evil who enters their lives. Read it in the late 70's early 80's. The author was female and wrote other books I liked as well. Dark Something?
