That whole rescue scene was awesome - more and more mystery surrounding the pendants (what are they, how do they work, what's their link to Kelsea?!), the Fetch (he's someone who died? But who?), Kelsea's power and father (for a moment, I was entertaining the thought that it might have been the Mace, but that wouldn't explain her affinity for magic at all - she clearly didn't get it from her mother), the Red Queen & the demon (?) she summons.
Also love how Kelsea's won over her people, how everyone around her is realising that she might be their salvation.

This 80+ pages has all been of her being escorted or taken somewhere, possibly her kingdom?! Honestly everything seems impossible, she cannot trust anyon and no one even gives her a chance 🤷🏼‍♀️ Guess we’ll see what happens (hide spoiler)]

Yeah the chapters are crazy long, one thing I hated. But I adored this book so much first time around <3 I need to re-read to get to the rest of the series.

I'm so sick of how many times she brings this up. And she's got this weird connection thing with Pen, who's just turned 30 three days ago, which is 11 years older than her.. That's still way too old Kelsea! Disgusting!

And so much focus on how plain she is! That Carlin wouldn't even let her have a mirror because she's too plain and boring. But what's the bet that there'll still be a love triangle. And she's dark-skinned right? Just for my own personal description, because I can't remember (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[So her dearest uncle is gone, I'm assuming. Good riddance. I'm getting a lot of like girl power vibes from this book because these people are really underestimating her. I'm glad we at least know we can trust Mace and Pen. The Fetch is also a strong possibility too, I guess I see him like a Robin Hood in some ways, he's more volatile but it's for the good of his country if that makes sense. It's too bad she can't have him as a part of her royal entourage, he'd be a hell of a help, then again maybe he already is. I also am looking forward to seeing how the necklace can be used and what she'll end up using it for. Being able to see the enemy army is a big help but it's unfortunate the leader of her military is such a misogynist and clearly out of practice, his morals refuse to even listen to her smh. He'll learn. Glad this is picking up more. I'm way more into it than I was in the beginning. I do still wish the chapters were not so dang long. (hide spoiler)]
