One moment I am immersed in what seems to be a fantasy world setting, the next it seems more like the medieval times, and then out of nowhere the story makes references to Britain and America. I agree with everything you said here. (view spoiler)[I am not quite sure what the big secret is yet but it's definitely unfair to Kelsea and unrealistic of them to hope for a good queen if she is not allowed to know the past. ALSO Kelsea and Fetch are giving me all the feels!!!! (hide spoiler)]

Finished - (view spoiler)[ Finally more Fetch, and he's gone too soon. Makes me sad. I just want to see them together already. I was a little worried about the part where he showed up on the scene 20 years ago, the same night Kelsea's mother supposedly conceived. I really don't want him to be her dad, that would be gross. It sounds like Fetch might finally know who her dad is.

As far as the ending goes - nice touch that she changed her name to honor the couple that brought her up. Also declares her independence from the things her mother did under the Raleigh name.

I'm really interested in this dark demon character. I don't understand why he wouldn't let the Red Queen invade....unless it is one of those storylines where he gains more blood/power if the sides are more evenly balanced. Like I said, interested to see where this thread goes. (hide spoiler)]

Admittedly, it's just pure entertainment--there's nothing in this book that made me very emotional nor is there anything here that made me stop and think about important issues, but it was a very feel good book. Definitely well written.

Yeah I feel a triangle between Fetch as well as Lazarus. But they're both way older than her, so now I'm unsure. The feelings between the Fetch and Kelsea are also unfounded. No reason why she has them. And I'm seriously sick of her being described as 'plain'! If she's so bloody plain why does she have 2 freaking love interests. Jesus I hate it.

And wasn't it to stop the invasions? Almost like a tithe every so often. Wonder where they get taken though, the shipments.

Chapter 7 (view spoiler)[Holy that was an intense few chapters, with the whole caged prisoners being sent to appease the treaty! Only thing that annoys me is the way she actually did just abolish the cages so quickly. Really wonder what Red Queen'll do now she isn't getting people. I also wonder what did actually did do with them.

I really like the way Kelsea was real resilient during her crowning and the way she actually went through with it even when trying not to pass out.

Into the start of Chapter 7 I was a little bit confused whose POV we were reading from, and then it mentioned his red-head slave, and I knew it was from her uncle the Regent, which I found interesting! Seeing how she's kicking him out is hilarious, and I love Anne's snarkiness and how she talks about Thomas as if he's disgusting. It's great.

Uh oh now the priest's spying on her :/ He's such a doormat.

Is it weird that I just assumed Allie was Javel's daughter, rather than wife? Just the way he spoke about her, the gentleness.

Kelsea has big ambitions and isn't to be pushed over, but she's also shown for what she is-a young girl who's overwhelmed with everything going on. I like that. I'm not a fan of the instalovey attraction to the Fetch which is already showing, he just isn't an attractive character and I don't see how or why she's attracted to him. The lack of information about her mother and father is frustrating. (hide spoiler)]
